Not done: They neither originated in nor are primarily located in Turkey. Largoplazo (talk) 16:12, 17 August 2025 (UTC)
Yazidis are not indigenous to Kurdistan region
Their presence is concentrated in the Nineveh Plains, particularly in Sinjar (which is literally their homeland), and not within the Kurdistan Region.
Describing them as indigenous to Kurdistan rather than to Sinjar/Nineveh is misleading. 37.236.27.15 (talk) 22:18, 6 September 2025 (UTC)
- Can you clarify whether you're talking about what area they're indigenous to or where their presence is concentrated? Those are two possibly completely different things, but you're writing about them as though they're the same. Largoplazo (talk) 22:27, 6 September 2025 (UTC)
- Sure that's fair, The article states they are indigenous to Kurdistan which is the part i described misleading. They are indigenous to Sinjar as is often described and widely recognized as their homeland. 37.236.27.15 (talk) 22:53, 6 September 2025 (UTC)
- Sinjar is just one of many enclaves where Yazidis live with Bahdinan considered their heartland. All the areas listed here as places where Yazidis live are regarded as part of Kurdistan "In past centuries, the Yezidi tribes had been very powerful, covering large areas of Kurdistan." Semsûrî (talk) 06:49, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
- This has nothing to do with where Yazidis currently live. I believe a good majority still live in Nineveh, e.g., Shekhan. Sinjar isn’t just one of their smaller settlements, and it’s not the only major historic settlement outside the Kurdistan Region. At the very least, the current article should state they are indigenous to Nineveh and parts of the Kurdistan Region. I would avoid calling Yazidi areas parts of Kurdistan, since most Yazidis do not identify as Kurdish and prefer their own distinct identity, and being Kurdish is generally what defines belonging to the Kurdistan Region. 37.236.27.15 (talk) 12:46, 7 September 2025 (UTC)
- "Today, the majority of the Yazidis live in Iraq and are particularly concentrated in the Nineveh Plains and Sinjar areas in the Nineveh Governorate in northern Iraq." From List of Yazidi settlements 37.236.27.15 (talk) 13:23, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

As indicated in the article "Some modern Yazidis identify as a subset of the Kurdish people while others identify as a separate ethno-religious group". Aziz Tamoyan doesn't agree with those who consider Yézidis as “ethnic Kurds”, neither with Vian Dakhil’s “opposition to any move separating Yazidis from Kurds”. He declared publicly " We are not Kurds, they speak Kurdish, we speak Ezdiki. They come from the Middle East, Yezidis come from the ancient Babylonians.". So please insert “On the contrary” before “Aziz Tamoyan the president of the Yezidi National Union ULE indicate that the term Yazidi is used for a nation…” Brunoboe (talk) 23:13, 13 December 2025 (UTC)
