Two histories
There are literally two history sections in the article. I did not create any of these, and am simply (slowly) doing a rewrite of the first one using the sources at the bottom of the article that look solid to me (Zaydism#Further reading). If anyone has objections to any of these, please voice them here, as I am not connected to Yemen or Yemen-related scholarship in real life, and thus will happily consider other sources. With one of the books printed in late 2023, although apparently hastily put together (note the references to "this dissertation" inside), I see no reason to use any online sources, especially news (this article is not about the current events in Yemen, after all, and can easily be made non-controversial). Regions
@Викидим, it says in the history section of the article that:
The Zaydis formed the states in what is now known as northern Iran (Tabaristan, 864 CE, by Hasan ibn Zayd, expanded to Daylam and Gilan) and later in Yemen (893 CE, by al-Hadi ila'l-Haqq Yahya). The Zaydis on the Caspian Sea were forcefully converted to Twelver Shi'ism in the 16th century.
Northern iran should be in the infobox + the Houthis, although they're the largest practicers of this sect-thingy, aren't the only group that practices it Abo Yemen✉ 10:59, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
- It is my understanding that the section "Regions with significant populations" means current significant populations (at least that is how it is used in the articles I've checked). As the text you quote suggests, Zaidism in Iran is long extinct. The {{infobox religious group}} appears to have no documentation, alas. Викидим (talk) 19:32, 20 May 2024 (UTC)
Infobox image
We should use image of the shrine of Zayd ibn Ali in the infobox like the articles of Ismailism, Bahai Faith, or Babism, instead of a calligraphic logo used by the Houthis, with Arabic text: "Oh ye who believe, be supporters of God". AimanAbir18plus (talk) 19:12, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- Strong Oppose I do not think that ruins located very far away from the places where Zaydis actually live illustrate the topic of a living religion well. Викидим (talk) 23:08, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
- But, a Houthi slogan in the infobox doesn't illustrates this very well either. AimanAbir18plus (talk) 03:52, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- It does actually. The Houthis are the ones who follow this sect and represent it 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 04:45, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
- The calligraphy is of good quality, the proposed photo is of very poor quality (electrical poles / barbed wire) and essentially unknown provenance (the description claims that it depicts a human). Викидим (talk) 08:59, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

- Do you have a source for that actually being his shrine? And if you do, does his shrine have any religious significance (e.i. a pilgrimage site of some sort) because if not then it is irrelevant 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 04:43, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Najran has no Zaydis
The people of Najran are Ismailis with a large Sunni minority (specifically in the northern region of Najran in Yadamh) 46.184.14.39 (talk) 18:15, 11 March 2025 (UTC)
- source? and what should we do with this info anyways? 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 08:07, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
- “What we should do with this info anyways?” Lol why are you speaking like I knocked on your home telling you this? I merely stated this fact because this article claims that Najran has Zaydis which is not true! What to with this info? How about correcting the fucking page? 46.184.90.24 (talk) 22:51, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
- We are writing encyclopedia here, not searching for the WP:TRUTH. We leave the domain of WP:Truth to researchers (the ones that have studied the subject professionally), which we here are not. Researchers write books and articles, and we retell their stories here in a readable format. That's it. If solid books say, there are Zaydis in Najran (and they do), we write it down here. The only way for us to state the opposite is to find an equally solid book stating, "there are no Zaydis in Najran". If you can show one, we can discuss it here, on the talk page. Even then, the WP:NPV will force us to tell both stories: "X says that there are Zs in N, Y says that there are none". If there is no book stating what one knows is true, there is no fix for it here, one has to publish their version of truth (so called "research") in a research journal first.
- I would therefore return Najran back, adding a WP:RS for it. Викидим (talk) 23:59, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
- It's not even a fact and the page is already correct 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 07:09, 9 June 2025 (UTC)
- No it’s not. I lived in Najran almost my entire life. And your sources can’t even name a single Zaydi family from Najran. But as your pal said, “Wikipedia” is not really about truth. 46.184.90.222 (talk) 17:39, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
- God forbid you did a census on the population of najran. See also: Wikipedia:No original research 𐩣𐩫𐩧𐩨 Abo Yemen (𓃵) 18:07, 18 June 2025 (UTC)
