Premise

Two people that have hit rock bottom are forced to work together to transport a rich troubled teen to rehab for a shady transport service.

Cast

Production

In 2017, it was announced that Macon Blair was writing and directing an original film with Luke Wilson and Tracy Morgan set to star.[1] By May 2018, Morgan dropped out and Ron Funches took his place.[2]

In February 2025, it was announced that Dave Franco, O'Shea Jackson Jr., and Peter Dinklage had joined the cast, with Wilson and Funches dropping out.[3] In July of that year, Mason Thames joined the cast.[4]

Filming locations included areas in Paulding County, Georgia in the fall of 2025.

Release

The Shitheads premiered at the Sundance Film Festival on January 23, 2026.[5] In February 2026, Independent Film Company acquired U.S. distribution rights to the film, planning to release it later that summer.[6]

Reception

On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 70% of 23 critics' reviews are positive.
