User:FinkyOfNalanja
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I am FinkyOfNalanja, a high-school age Wikimedian who mostly edits on the English Wikipedia, and uploads images to Wikimedia Commons(see: my alt). I am extended-confirmed and have access to the Wikipedia Library.
Userboxes are mostly puffery; don't take them too seriously. And according to the 25th anniversary Wikipedia quiz, my, "Wikipedia future," is the, "Data-Driven Researcher."

Interests & Hobbies
Hobbies
- Writing: I love writing, for example, on Wikipedia. Also love writing about other things like dreams I've had or other miscellaneous things.
- Reading: I like children's novels mostly, but also non-fiction (about chemistry, physics, and especially history, geography, and vexillology)
- Cycling: The San Gabriel Valley is a nice area for that, albeit far too hot during June, July, and August.
- Gaming: I like survival, sandbox, simulator, and tycoon games mostly. But sometimes I play brawler games with friends and family.
Interests
- Wings of Fire: A children's fantasy series by Tui T. Sutherland that remains my favorite series of all time. My favorite book is Talons of Power (book #9).
- Cult of the Lamb: Goofy 2022 video game by Massive Monster where you play as a lamb with a magical hat and eventually battle your way into becoming the god of death.
- Minecraft: Everybody knows this one.
Name
My name used to be AngelenoCrow, because I live in Los Angeles County, California, and because I like crows. I've since moved to FinkyOfNalanja to align with my accounts across everything else (YouTube, Discord, Instagram, etc.).
The "Finky" (pronounced /finkē/) part comes from a real-life nickname I earned when I was 12, and has followed me throughout my life since. I wrote my actual first name on a ruler once, but my bad handwriting led to it looking like it said the goofy sounding nonsense-name, "Finky." "OfNalanja," stems from the time my friend created a humorous micronation called, "the Kingdom of Nalanja," (pronounced /nəlänyə/) which interested me. It's long-defunct now; he dissolved it after we lost interest.
How I Edit
Wikipedia
|
As mentioned, all of my edits are on the English Wikipedia; it, unfortunately, is the only language I'm currently fluent in, though I have very, very basic Spanish and German skills.
As for WikiFauna, I believe myself to be a WikiHobbit.
I also define myself as:
What topics do I contribute to
- Things in my local area. The SGV and San Gabriel Mountains, as well as San Diego.
- Mines. Abandoned ones, usually. Most often out in the Mojave desert, Sonoran desert, or Chihuahuan desert. Sometimes the Sierra Nevada Mountains, specifically the area around Wofford Heights, California, where my uncle lives.
- Despite not being Polynesian I am fascinated by Polynesia and am one of the most prolific, currently-active editors of articles regarding Tuvalu.

- Obscure geographical trivia.

Commons
Honestly, I used to have a streak for uploading shite that wasn't mine. I don't do that now; I wasn't taking it that seriously. Sorry about that. Here's my talk page for Commons.
I do use an alt(again, see: my alt) but I fully disclose that it's an alt and I was never blocked from editing/uploading as FinkyOfNalanja so I'm not sockpuppetting.
I mostly upload photos of things in my area or places I've traveled to; that is, San Diego, California, Wofford Heights, California, or Carlsbad Caverns National Park. I wish I were a more traveled person, but alas. Someday, maybe...
Everything I upload is own work published with no rights reserved.

History
First edit: On an IP, shamefully, it was vandalism. I was 12. I changed every instance of a (I think it was an Irish punk band) band's lead singer's name to my own. On this account it was the creation of my user page.
First article: Now deleted Monument to the Friendship between Nanumea and Nukufetau
First upload: Eaton Fire.jpg, as seen near the top of my user page

Barnstars
Wanna' boost my ego? Give me a barnstar/thank an edit! :D Or just add something to my talk page, I'm always open to learning how I could be a better Wikipedian! (seriously though, if I mess up, TELL ME, I'm still pretty new, and that seems to happen a lot!)
Someone left this on my user page instead of my talk page. I've decided to leave it here. Thanks, Hells.

- A picture of the Eaton Fire encroaching upon my neighborhood. It was scary and we had to evacuate but thankfully I didn't lose my house. Funny story: when the power went out in my neighborhood I was in the middle of creating a Wikipedia article (either Kaumaile or Te Po o Tefolaha I think). Then when I learned about the fire I even considered making a Wikipedia article for it on mobile. In the end someone else did, obviously. The linked page is WiP, not done yet.
- My very first created article. Riddled with misinformation lol. My friend wikispeedran to it from Roblox once. Images blurred due to copyright (they've been removed from the article). Moved to the draftspace. Uncensored version can be found on Monument to the Friendship between Nanumea and Nukufetau the archive.org page I made for it.
- Students from local high schools (John Muir High School, Thurgood Marshall Secondary School, Blair High School, Pasadena High School, and Rose City High School) picket Pasadena City Hall during the 2025 Dena Against ICE Walkout. I participated.
- E. Union Street, my beautiful city Pasadena, California, on a 2025 evening.
- Altadena as seen from the Sunset Ridge picnic area in the San Gabriel Mountains, before it was ravaged by Eaton.
- The photo I took that got featured in a legitimate publication. And a Sambucha video.
- A view of Leo Carillo Beach near Malibu, my favorite beach.
- The 2024 Doo-Dah Parade, best parade in the city.
- 2025 Monsterpalooza, a fun event. I got a signed CotL first verse comic.
- An eagle design at the 2025 Independence Day drone show at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California.
- The Gabrielino Trail, when I was less than 10.
- Ducks at the Japanese Garden of the Huntington Botanical Gardens.
- A dilapidated rope ladder leading into an abyss in a cave at Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
- Jane, 2008-2020
- The front entrance of Thurgood Marshall Secondary School.
