Canadian by birth. American by address. Human by nature.

I have a lot of different interests, including (but in no order): workplace diversity and inclusion, RuPaul's Drag Race and drag in general, anything LGBTQ related, musical theatre, politics, barbershop music, all things Palm Springs, California and the Coachella Valley (and much more). I believe strongly in the Wikipedia mandate and want to share information with the world.

My page is a constant work in progress. I aspire to be one of those WP editors with all the awards and labels for their contributions. For now, I'll just share the articles I've started or contributed to.

I am part of a course taught by Wiki Education that trains scholars in how to edit Wikipedia. Learn more at wikiedu.org. All of my contributions are my own and I take responsibility for them.

AI and LMMs

There is a lot of conversation about the use of AI and large language models on WP, and I want to share my thoughts. I recently started using AI to conduct research when I'm writing an article. And that's as far as it goes. I use the technology to point me in the direction of content that I can use as reference material for an article, but I do not use it to write articles. As a writer, I disagree with using AI to write. It takes the fun out of the process.

WP Editors, when reviewing AfCs, seem to be quick to apply the label of "AI usage" when they review something. And while I'm certain there are editors that are using ChatGPT and other AIs to create drafts, I am not one of them. I believe that writing an article needs to come from me, not an AI. So if there's a mistake, it's not a sign of a LMM - it's a sign of an editor who made a mistake.
