Hello! I have a PhD in biology and I am working on creating and improving species pages by adding information, primarily from peer-reviewed research and original species descriptions published on these taxa, but I also draw heavily on reputable literature-based databases like WoRMS and AlgaeBase, as well as keys such as from the Jepson Herbaria.
I enjoy wildlife and nature photography, so if I have taken a high-quality photo of something (as good as or better than other available photos online), I will be a bit self-indulgent add it during the page creation process. I also draw heavily on CC0 licensed photos uploaded on iNaturalist, taking care to verify that they are the taxon they purport to be before uploading them to Wikimedia (and of course, crediting the author). A huge thank you to iNaturalist users for their generosity with their photos. As Wikipedia species pages are embedded in iNaturalist, my hope is that by providing and increasing the accuracy of information about species available on Wikipedia, not only do I increase the amount of knowledge available to anyone curious about life on Earth, but that it also starts a positive feedback loop that increases the ease and accuracy of species identification on iNaturalist.
I'm still learning how Wikipedia works, so thanks for your feedback and patience! It is very appreciated.
