What I'll be working on

I am open to collaborators, I will be attempting to get these articles to featured list status (though some do not meet the length requirement) and the topic as a whole to featured topic. You are encouraged to work on these articles yourself and nominate them. I will review those and you can leave me a talk page message to solicit a review.

Topic ban clarification 2

I am topic banned from the PIC. Can I edit Nadeen Ayoub (her career, accomplishments, early life) as long as I steer clear of content that is directly related to the PIC? I will not edit parts of the article that are about her getting harased by pro-Israel people, feud with an Israeli beauty queen, and analysis about the Gaza war. Also, can i edit the following articles:

  1. List of ambassadors of Palestine to China
  2. List of ambassadors of China to Palestine
  3. List of Palestine international footballers born outside Palestine
  4. Palestine Book Award?

thanks Sahib-e-Qiran 23:50, 31 January 2026 (UTC)

I'm not an admin, but a topic ban means you cannot edit articles in that area, broadly construed. This applies to entire articles. thetechie@enwiki:~$ she/they | talk 01:47, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
WP:TBAN: weather-related parts of other pages, even if the pages as a whole have little or nothing to do with weather: the section entitled "Climate" in the article California, for example, is covered by the topic ban, but the rest of the article is not; This is why I am asking for an admin. I fixed my signature. No reply needed Sahib-e-Qiran, He Who is Otherwise Known as ‪EasternShah‬ 01:55, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
As noted, this is not correct, someone can edit an article where only a portion is about the prohibited topic; I use Ms. Rachel as an example, a children's entertainer/educator who made comments about the Gaza War; banned/non-EC users could edit about her work but not her Gaza comments or her displaying art related to Gaza. 331dot (talk) 10:02, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
@331dot thanks for clearing that up. It appears that I was wrong in this case. thetechie@enwiki:~$ she/they | talk 22:05, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
@TheTechie, for the reasons I mentioned here, which are based on written policy, I'm not sure you are wrong, though I do agree that the position on this talk page is that topic bans are interpreted narrowly instead of broadly. Coining (talk) 22:50, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
Also, please fix your signature. As a general rule of thumb, it should be obvious what your username is from the display of your signature, and "Sahib-e-Qiran" doesn't particularly tell me that your username is "EasternShah". thetechie@enwiki:~$ she/they | talk 01:48, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
@EasternShah: per WP:SIGPROB, could you please sort out your signature, it is confusing, and I can see this was already requested several weeks ago (comment above). Thank you. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 17:16, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
  • Recognition of Palestine(and Israel, really) is a integral part of the conflict as recognizing Palestine confers the ability to exchange ambassadors; even now that more countries recognize them than not, I would steer clear of it to avoid any potential issue.
Yes, you should be fine to edit about Ayoub as you describe. 331dot (talk) 10:08, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
Can i also edit the football and book award ones? Thanks for your response Sahib-e-Qiran, He Who is Otherwise Known as ‪EasternShah‬ 15:04, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
@331dot: sorry for the second ping but I don't think you commented on List of Palestine international footballers born outside Palestine and Palestine Book Award, is it acceptable for me to edit these as well? I understand that I should not edit the ambassador lists. Sahib-e-Qiran, He Who is Otherwise Known as ‪EasternShah‬ 21:25, 1 February 2026 (UTC)
Those should be okay. 331dot (talk) 21:55, 1 February 2026 (UTC)

Sorry, I adapted the question from a similar one at Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Liz, so I thought it would be okay. I do not plan to participate in many RfAs, so this will not be problem in the future regardless. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 16:22, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

The Ridiculous Barnstar
For the most insane question anyone has ever asked at RfA. I do *not* encourage anyone to try to outdo you.
In your defense, the question that inspired it was met with a flawless answer from the candidate, but yours was on another level.  Vanilla  Wizard 💙 21:38, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
I am sincerely sorry about that, I just wanted to check if the candidate knew their stuff because I noticed that they didn't have that many edits (compared to other admins, especially those recently elected). I think they are still experienced enough to become an admin, but I just wanted to make sure. I shouldn't have described the process that much, it was irrelevant, but I was also trying to be humorous. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 00:34, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Don't worry, this barnstar isn't supposed to be taken seriously or thought of as a warning template or badge of shame, I just thought it was a fun way to say I thought you did something silly that was both harmless and funny :) Apologies if the phrasing sounded mean, when I called it "insane" I meant that in a "how did you even think of something that crazy" way, not a "how dare you post that" way  Vanilla  Wizard 💙 02:45, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Thank you Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 03:03, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
Just to clarify, I didn't interpret anything that you said as offensive and it was in good humor. I just wanted to restate that I could've handled the situation better. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 03:36, 11 March 2026 (UTC)

I would've just trouted you, but you had me laughing for at least a few minutes so I think 5 trouts arranged in a star shape is more appropriate here.  Vanilla  Wizard 💙 21:38, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

Articles for deletion/Markville Secondary School

I agree with you that the school has not established notability. You need now to allow the discussion to take its course. If the close is keep, and you consider the closer has not paid enough attention to policy comments, then you can ask for the discussion to be looked at again. Meanwhile it is not helpful to argue details in the AfD, nor to leave a comment telling the closer how to do their job. That can give a poor impression. SilkTork (talk) 18:32, 13 March 2026 (UTC)

Sorry, I had forgotten that deletion review was an avenue. I will not bludgeon the discussion next time. However, I do not necessarily think that it is a bad thing to remind closers of policies, as some seem to forget sometimes. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 22:28, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
It is a bad thing. Always assume good faith of people. We do have procedures for when people make mistakes, so there is no need to assume the worse. I note that people have assumed bad faith of you when you haven't displayed any. Removing your RfA question was inappropriate. If someone was unhappy with your question they should have first spoken with you. The person who templated you for "vandalism" when you redirected the school article could have spoken with you first. It is acceptable to redirect articles if they appear obviously to be non-notable, though in this case it was an established article that looks solid (and might well be kept), so discussing the issue first would have been more appropriate. But similarly, the person who templated you could have discussed it with you first. If we all assume good faith it creates a more respectful and harmonious environment which aids the project. SilkTork (talk) 23:36, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
The template for vandalism was inappropriate. The removal of the RfA question if it made people uncomfortable was appropriate. I do not think that reminding someone of something is assuming bad faith. Note that the policy isn't called assume good or assume bad, I don't think any closer of a discussion acts in bad faith. However, they may make mistakes, so I was reminding them not to. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 23:50, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
Alas, it seems that my prediction was correct (while my behavior was not). Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 15:09, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

Vandalism of a draft

Warning icon Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you may be blocked from editing.

I noticed that you deleted a lot of content in Draft:List of Intangible Cultural Heritage elements in China. I do not understand the purpose. This is obviously inappropriate. And I do not know why some elements are about Palestine.

Due to unknown reason I cannot revert it. If you can, please revert it.

If this happens next time, I will report to WP:VIP.

Note: if this was an accident, please revert it by yourself and I will ignore it. Noordpunt (talk) 10:18, 14 March 2026 (UTC)

drafts are works in progress, I was changing the format to match similar WP:FLs. Note that almost everything was unsourced, which means that it would've gotten rejected anyway. You are too harsh in your tone. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 16:17, 14 March 2026 (UTC)
Your response is not acceptable. Please directly answer this questions:
  1. Why you copied a lot of content from the Palestinian one?
  2. What is the meaning of "unsourced"? I have written that the major content is based on UNESCO's official site.
  3. Why you did not delete the section Need of urgent safeguarding?
And I request you to revert it to my version (before many of contents were deleted). Thank you for co-operation! Noordpunt (talk) 17:26, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
there is a single item on the need of urgent safeguarding list. I copied content from the palestinian one because that one is a featured list but I did not have enough time to add the chinese inscriptions since there are like 60 of them. You need to source every item on the list, even if it may not have a description. I have reverted to your version though. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 17:29, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Thank you. But is it really necessary to add the footnotes for everything in the list? Noordpunt (talk) 17:32, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Stop icon You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to Graham Platner. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.

Important points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.

You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing.

Please note that WP:BLP policy is unambiguous: The burden of evidence rests with the editor who adds or restores the material. See also the sections WP:BLPREMOVE and WP:BLPRESTORE. Generalrelative (talk) 22:21, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

You've read that part, but read WP:BLPREMOVE, which you've cited to me.

Remove immediately any contentious material about a living person that:

  1. is unsourced or poorly sourced;
  2. is an original interpretation or analysis of a source, or a synthesis of sources (see also Wikipedia:No original research);
  3. relies on self-published sources, unless written by the subject of the BLP (see § Using the subject as a self-published source, above); or
  4. relies on sources that fail in some other way to meet verifiability standards.
How does what I've added meet any of these standards? Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 22:24, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
Generalrelative in case you have not seen this. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 22:27, 17 March 2026 (UTC)

To ensure that material about living people is written neutrally to a high standard, and based on high-quality reliable sources, the burden of proof is on those who wish to retain, restore, or undelete the disputed material. When material about living persons has been deleted on good-faith BLP objections, any editor wishing to add, restore, or undelete it must ensure it complies with Wikipedia's content policies. If it is to be restored without significant change, consensus must be obtained first.

You are currently discussing this content with two other editors on the talk page. If your points are reasonable and the content due for inclusion, you will be able to persuade the community and achieve consensus. But you must wait for that to occur and actually do the work of persuasion. We have engaged with you in good faith but the WP:ONUS is still on you. Generalrelative (talk) 22:30, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
Also, I've made 2 reverts and you've made 3, but I'm the one edit-warring? Also, my warning on ur page wasn't tit-for-tat, I didn't see your warning when I put it there. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 00:10, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from AlfredoSfeirYounis (14:38, 20 March 2026)

Hello,

My name is Gonzalo Castellón. I recently created this account because I’ve been tasked by Dr. Alfredo Sfeir-Younis to work on significantly improving and updating his Wikipedia page.

Before making any major edits, I want to make sure I fully understand Wikipedia’s guidelines so that my contributions are appropriate, well-sourced, and not misinterpreted as vandalism or promotional content. My goal is to ensure the page is accurate, neutral, and aligned with Wikipedia standards.

Could you please advise me on best practices for editing a biography under these circumstances, especially regarding potential conflict of interest and how to proceed transparently?

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Best regards, Gonzalo Castellón --AlfredoSfeirYounis (talk) 14:38, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

If you want to edit with a conflict of interest, I recommend reading the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest page. I'll just tell you the main points. On your userpage, you should put Template:User COI. On Talk:Alfredo Sfeir, you should put Template:Edit COI each time you want to make an edit. Please do not directly edit the page. It may take some time for a volunteer to respond to your request, so just keep that in mind. Each time you create an edit request, you want to make sure that all information complies with Wikipedia's sourcing standards, WP:RS. Most major English-language sources are listed at WP:RSP, where their reliability is assessed. Most of the time, you will be citing WP:SECONDARY sources (those not directly connected to the subject themself), and if you are citing WP:PRIMARY sources, then you have to follow some extra rules (which are listed at WP:PRIMARY). You can check WP:CITE for more information on citations, which are very important. Essentially, when you are editing, there is a "Cite" button that you can click. After you click that, a bar will pop up beneath the top bar, on the left there will be a "Templates" section that you can click and it gives you various templates for various different types of sources. You just need to fill in the information there and it will create a citation for you. You should also read the Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch#Words that may introduce bias section and Wikipedia's policy on WP:Biographies of living people. If you have any questions you may ask me, or you may also ask at the Wikipedia Teahouse Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 19:46, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

Quick note on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Markville Secondary School

Hi, I saw your comments at DRV at at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Markville Secondary School. I just wanted to quickly commiserate: it's unfortunate when AfD comes to the wrong consensus! In this case, the keep votes were pretty questionable, and on a different day with a different sample of editors it likely would have been redirected. Unfortunately, this is one of those quirks of editing Wikipedia: sometimes, consensus is against you! Nothing to be done except remind yourself that our work is always incomplete; in a year or 5 or 10, another editor may come along and consensus can change. In the meantime, I recommend unwatchlisting the page and forgetting all about it, because it can be very frustrating! Cheers, Suriname0 (talk) 20:41, 20 March 2026 (UTC)

Worse than the AfD was the closer closing it as keep, rather than relisting , and worse still was (will be, but let's not kid ourselves) the outcome of the DRV. Perhaps the outcome is a fault of the fleeting attention span not to be bothered with the nomination or perhaps voting for the sake of making the edit counter go up rather than chance, but your advice is otherwise solid. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 21:49, 20 March 2026 (UTC)
I think that's probably overstating it! And I don't agree with you about the outcome of the DRV; ultimately, I do think the closer interpreted consensus correctly (or at least within acceptable ranges). The best you could have hoped for was a relist and the subsequent attention of additional participants. Suriname0 (talk) 01:19, 21 March 2026 (UTC)

DYK for Vau i Dejës Hydroelectric Power Station

On 22 March 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Vau i Dejës Hydroelectric Power Station, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Vau i Dejës Hydroelectric Power Station generated more than half of Albania's electricity soon after its completion? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Vau i Dejës Hydroelectric Power Station. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Vau i Dejës Hydroelectric Power Station), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Question from Farouk Koduah on Ministry of Foreign Affairs (United Arab Emirates) (04:56, 28 March 2026)

I do not understand what you mean. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 17:44, 28 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Joppa1 (20:26, 29 March 2026)

Hello i have never been here and idk vvhat do i do and also vvell hovv do i create my ovvn vvikipedia? --Joppa1 (talk) 20:26, 29 March 2026 (UTC)

Generally, you should not create an article on yourself because of the Wikipedia conflict of interest policy. However, you may create a draft article and submit at articles for creation. Make sure that you meet the notability criteria for people, or else you cannot have an article. People with different occupations may be notable even if they do not meet the the general notability criteria if they are notable for accomplishments in a field (usually their occupation). Make sure to read the guide on creating articles first. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 21:05, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from CrabappleTrees (19:12, 30 March 2026)

I want to add 2 names of 20th century Western women mystics to the Wikipedia "List of female mystics" page:

Caryll Houselander Evelyn Underhill --CrabappleTrees (talk) 19:12, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

You can add these people to List of female mystics by placing them under the correct header Christianity in this case. You should copy the format for other people, having an asterix (this creates a dot and it is often used for lists) and then their name within double square brackets (this creates a link). Make sure to include a reference to fulfill Wikipedia's policy of verifiability. If you have further questions, you may ask me. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 21:08, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Landersonbrooke (21:59, 30 March 2026)

Hi - sorry to ask such a basic question, but I've been advised that as an employee of Microsoft, whose direct line manager Carolina Dybeck Happe, is the subject of a Wiki article - I should disclose that I am a paid editor on my user profile. I'm not sure where or how to disclose that? --Landersonbrooke (talk) 21:59, 30 March 2026 (UTC)

I 'think' I've done what I'm supposed to do. If you have time to review, I'd appreciate it. Landersonbrooke (talk) 22:13, 30 March 2026 (UTC)
Yeah, what you've done seems about right. You can check WP:UPE for more information, but I'd advise that if you want to add, remove, or otherwise alter information in articles related to your conflict of interest, (eg. Microsoft, Criticism of Microsoft, History of Microsoft, Carolina Dybeck Happe) that you use Template:Edit COI. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 00:02, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Psychicindi (16:59, 31 March 2026)

How to create a biography of public figure ? --Psychicindi (talk) 16:59, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

See the guide on on creating an article as a beginner. The person that you are creating an article about must meet the [[WP:ANYBIO|general notability guidelines for biography], or if they are well-known, awarded or accomplished in a specific field, then you can see if they meet it. Create a draft article and submit it at the articles for creation project. If you want any clarifications, then please ask either here or at the WIkipedia Helpdesk or Teahouse Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 18:23, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from TinaMarieFarrell (13:31, 3 April 2026)

I believe Pete Hegseth is the Secretary of War not the Secretary of Defense according to the US Department of War website. --TinaMarieFarrell (talk) 13:31, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

If you want this changed, then go to Talk:Pete Hegseth and submit a WP:EDITREQUEST. The section most relevant to your purposes is Wikipedia:Edit_requests#Making_requests. I cannot make an edit for you, as that could be considered WP:MEATPUPPETing (proxying for a user) and I could face disciplinary action. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 15:28, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from ITVStoryWeaver (06:46, 9 April 2026)

Hello I want to make articles for all Udaariyaan actors Abhishek, Isha, Priyanka etc but I am not able to do it. Why? --ITVStoryWeaver (talk) 06:46, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

You need to be WP:AUTOCONFIRMED to be able to create articles. You can still create a draft at WP:AFC. Make sure that the article you create meets WP:NACTOR or generally WP:NBIO. Also see WP:YFA for advice on creating articles. Ask more questions on my talk page or at the WP:TEAHOUSE Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 14:18, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Exploring flamingo (11:32, 9 April 2026)

Heeeey! I just created my Wikipedia account and I'm really excited to start contributing. I'm a complete newcomer so I wanted to reach out before diving in.

I have a few questions: 1. What types of articles would you recommend I start with as a beginner? 2. What are the most common mistakes new editors make that I should avoid? 3. How do I properly cite sources, and what counts as a reliable source? 4. How do Talk pages work, and what should I do if someone reverts my edit?

Also, would you be willing to review my first edit before or after I publish it? I'd really appreciate your feedback. Thank you! :) --Exploring flamingo (talk) 11:32, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

I have left you a welcome template that contains some information on your talk page. If you have any questions after reading those, then feel free to ask me or ask at the WP:TEAHOUSE Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 16:25, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from CheeseAndJamSamdwich (10:48, 11 April 2026)

Hi! Since you've been assigned as my mentor, I wanted to ask what the rules and norms around here. The intro tutorial wasn't the clearest. (Btw, my computer's broken, so I'll be editing on mobile, but with the desktop interface , since the mobile one's just so clunky.) --CheeseAndJamSamdwich (talk) 10:48, 11 April 2026 (UTC)

If you want to talk to someone make sure to be WP:CIVIL. If you want to add something make sure it is backed up by WP:SECONDARY, WP:RELIABLE sources. Sometimes you can use WP:PRIMARY sources though, for basic claims. Otherwise, if you don't want to add material, then you can also just WP:COPYEDIT. If you like to copyedit and want to join fun 'contests' about it or just interact with other copyeditors, you can join WP:GOCE. If you want to improve articles about a specific subject, then you can join a WP:WIKIPROJECT. For a more in-depth introduction, covering more policies and guidelines, I have left a welcome message on your page, which has links to other guidelines. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 15:33, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
I've found an interest in reverting vandalism after randomly stumbling upon some at SK Slovan Bratislava. Can you recommend some resources/pages that can help with this? CheeseAndJamSamdwich (talk) 18:38, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
If you're autoconfirmed you can use WP:TWINKLE which is pretty useful for reverting quickly, nominating articles for a certain process, and giving users warnings. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 22:41, 11 April 2026 (UTC)
What does autoconfirmed mean? CheeseAndJamSamdwich (talk) 09:30, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
See WP:AUTOCONFIRMED, you need to have a certain amount of edits and have an account for a certain amount of days. Sahib-e-Qiran, EasternShah 16:09, 12 April 2026 (UTC)
