Columbus, Ohio
Columbus is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Ohio. It had a population of 905,748 at the 2020 census, making it the 14th most populous city in the United States, and a metropolitan area population of around 2.2 million. Columbus was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers and was named after Christopher Columbus. It became the state capital in 1816 and grew during the nineteenth century as a transportation and industrial hub linked by the National Road, canals and railroads. Columbus is now a center for high-tech manufacturing with plants operated by Intel, Honda and LG Energy Solution and is home to Ohio State University, one of the largest universities in the country. Overview

Exteray, a Wikipedian, was born in 1990.

Wikimania

A currently avid user of Wikipedia, Exteray first saw this amazing project several years ago. He was instantly drawn to it [citation needed].

He spends as much time on Wikipedia now that it has led to parental objection. (His parents are very strict). But in his young mind Wikipedia is his life.

His Userboxes

Exteray has an uncanny fascination with userboxes. He allegedly spent the entire night creating semi-random userboxes for himself when he first knew about its existence. To date, there are over 356 of them.[citation needed] Due to this overwhelming number of userboxes, they are displayed on a separate page here.

  • 653 (disambiguation): a rather insignificant contribution, as 653 is one of the supposedly infinte numbers included in Wikipedia, many of which lack a disambiguation page. The future of the page is uncertain, but it is likely to be deleted. In creating that page, Exteray primarily wanted to practice his editting skills in Disambiguation pages, [citation needed] although he could have used a sandbox instead.

Tip of the moment...
Power-editing with AutoWikiBrowser

Guess what the power users of Wikipedia use to edit...

The AutoWikiBrowser (AWB), of course.

AWB is a semi-automatic Wikipedia editor. It works on lists (batches) of pages, automatically edits the first page the way you specify, and then takes you to the next page once you approve the changes to the current page. It has powerful features. It can even run an external script, regex (regular expression) on each page it processes.

In order to use AWB, you must either be an experienced editor with over 500 edits, or a Wikipedia administrator.

AWB is very useful and helps perform repetitive WikiGnome tasks very quickly, like stubs sorting, substituting templates, and searching/replacing.

For on-the-fly general discussion and support requests for AWB, try the AWB IRC channel: #AutoWikiBrowser connect
