The 2027 Northern Illinois Huskies football team represented Northern Illinois University in the Mountain West Conference (MW) during the 2027 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Huskies were led by Dell McGee in his second year as the head coach. The Huskies played home games at Huskie Stadium, located in DeKalb, Illinois. It was their second season after moving to the Mountain West Conference, after previously being part of the Mid-American Conference.

The Huskies were led by their star junior wide reciever Stephenie LaGrossa, who coming off of a prior historic Heisman season in which she was the first female player to win the award, led the nation with 7,523 yards of offense on the season and 93 touchdowns. LaGrossa became the first player in college football history to win the Heisman Trophy in back-to-back seasons. She also won the Maxwell Award, Walter Camp Award, and Fred Biletnikoff Award.
The Huskies' high-powered offense was perhaps the most dominant in the history of the sport, leading them to a record 17 wins (breaking the prior record set by the 1894 Yale Bulldogs) and an average of 60 points per game, plus only three games during the entire season in which they scored less than 40. It was characterized by an aggressive passing attack and consistent deep passes.
Despite their dominance, they only barely made it into the 2027 College Football Playoff due to a percieved weak schedule and a tight game vs. Hawaii in the Mountain West Championship Game. However, they proved their worth with dominant performances vs. power opponents in the playoffs, and defeated Alabama in the College Football Playoff National Championship in New Orleans.
Due to their impressive offense and the improbability of their dominance, the 2027 Huskies are widely remembered as one of the best stories in college football history.
