From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I'm Jill, a professor of digital culture at the University of Bergen. I've been on Wikipedia for ages, mostly contributing to articles about electronic literature or internet studies but not very active. In the last couple of years I've become more interested in the nuts and bolts of it all and am a lot more active across more topics.

Currently working on
- Wikipedia:WikProject Electronic literature
- And over at Wikidata I'm working with colleagues at the Center for Digital Narrative on Wikidata:WikiProject Digital Narratives where our goal is to connect data in the ELMCIP Electronic Literature Knowledge Base to Wikidata.
- Became an Articles for Creation reviewer in June 2025 and am finding it quite interesting. Also I really want to earn a barnstar in the June backlog drive so need to earn points!

| I have to be honest that I was overwhelmed when I saw the AfC backlog just now! Your work at articles for creation is incredible. Thank you so much for being part of the June Backlog Drive eliminators. I miss reviewing drafts, and I hope I am able to get back more actively again. Redlink lists and other stuff generated from Wikidata queries
- User:Lijil/redlink-test
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronic literature/Electronic literature works that won the New Media Writing Prize
Writing better articles
- Nominating and reviewing articles for GA review (Good Article review) is a great way to improve Wikipedia! Here is a Cheatsheet for GA reviews
- Article quality assessment criteria and importance
Saving time on boring tasks
- User scripts
- Citehighlighter - this highlights the references in an article so you can see how solid they are. Doesn't recognise indie, peer reviewed scholarly journals so don't trust absolutely.
- SourceMD takes DOIs and makes QuickStatements you can import into Wikidata.
Templates for writing articles
It can be easier to start a new article from a template. Will add to this list.
- Work of electronic literature - Wikidata infobox is useful - should perhaps develop this into e-lit infobox template?
- Academic bio (adapted from User:DrThneed) - and process description
- General template for a biography
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Books/Non-fiction article
- How to reference a source multiple times with different page numbers:
- Interlanguage wiki links:
{{ill|Title of page|no}}{{ill|Title of page|no|Title of page in other language if different from English}}
- Talk quotes inline
- {{tq|quoted text}}
Templates for feedback
Templates that do cool stuff
Going to add stuff here.
- Visualisations of characteristics of articles created by Wikipedians using Wikidata properties. (URL)
Tools for managing WikiProjects
I am learning how to set up a WikiProject over at Wikipedia:WikProject Electronic literature. Here are some tools I have liked:
Generate lists from Wikidata
Listeria allows you to generate lists on Wikipedia drawing upon Wikidata using sparql queries. Here is the documentation of the template: Template:Wikidata list. Here are some examples:
- Example using electronic literature: Wikipedia:WikiProject Electronic literature/Electronic literature works that won the New Media Writing Prize
- List of women in a book who don't yet have Wikipedia articles: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/DoWW/Film+Stage (not sure what the
- List of women who are alumni or employees of Tokyo University of the Arts who don't have Wikipedia articles. Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Missing articles by education/Japan - Tokyo University of the Arts
- Women without articles in English-language Wikipedia ranked by how many other language Wikipedias have articles about them: Wikipedia:WikiProject Women in Red/Number of links
- Paintings by J.C. Dahl with details about each painting: User:Jane023/Paintings by J.C. Dahl
- My test list: User:Lijil/testlist - but I want to include how many other Wikidata items link to the item and I don't know how to include Wikidata properties that aren't in the item itself.
Setting up a template for a new project
You can view (and edit) the source at Template:WikiProject Electronic literature.
