Abandoned account
This account is abandoned because the person behind this account is not happy about a block they received on Wikimedia Commons. It said that they were blocked for sockpuppetry, but they disagreed with it as they did not own multiple accounts.
What happened?
Edit filter confusion
- I tried to ask a question about fixing the hex colors of road signs, but then it was disallowed by an edit filter.
- The error message was not clear enough, causing me to be confused on why it was disallowed and report it as a false positive. After that, I became inactive on Wikimedia Commons.
Getting blocked and first unblock request
- A few weeks later, I prepared to make a constructive edit, only to find out that I was suddenly blocked indefinitely for sockpuppetry.
- The account that my account was suspected as a sockpuppet of was named Luigiluigi7677, which was not owned by me, causing me to disagree with the block.
- I created an unblock request on Commons. However, a CheckUser believed that my account was operated by the same person as the one behind Luigiluigi7677, and declined my unblock request.
- I still disagreed with the block because they were not owned by the same person, causing me to confess with the administrators. I was wondering what evidence was confirming the block (e.g. if the two accounts were editing from the same location), but they weren't helping.
Second unblock request and talk page block
- A few weeks later, I tried to make another unblock request, this time with more details and explaining that the Luigiluigi7677 account was not owned by the same person. However, a CheckUser declined it again.
- I still disagreed with the block, causing me to continue confessing with the administrators and trying to learn the evidence.
- Before I was able to learn the evidence, they made it worse and blocked me from editing my own talk page, and now I'm upset.
Emailing support
- I emailed support, and they said that my account was suspected to be under an LTA involving "harassing specific users with non-constructive comments in inappropriate locations". However, I was confused because I didn't know why my question about hex colors was marked as harassment, as the question was not intended to upset the user that I was trying to ask the question to.
- I was thinking that, if the error message was more clear or linked to the LTA case, then I would've stopped trying to ask the question and instead identify what the problem was.
- I was thinking that real names would've needed to be shared by both accounts in order to prove that they were owned by different individuals.
