My mission on Wikipedia
Wikipedia has always been a marvel to me, as I feel like there's a lot to be done here. Whether it's fighting vandalism, to calmly copy-editing articles which could use some work, I love every second of it. The intense amount of trust Wikipedia places in it's users provides is fulfilling. Every day I am able to see the massive amount of information and data we as humans have access to, not complete anarchy.
However, there are always drawbacks to this encyclopedia. As an editor, I see those changes go through that I can't be sure of. Sports statistics, ages of people, and more always are always being vandalized and changed. It can be a mess to quickly research and verify facts, with edits coming in every second. I always remember, as an editor, that I cannot change everything. As editors, we simply cannot do everything, and as people, we are sometimes powerless to these external forces.
As I change and develop as a person and as an editor, I wish to do as much as I can to help this website thrive. I wish that one day we will have created a masterpiece of history. While this site may not live on forever, we have made history as editors.
I believe we are living in an interesting period of time. Our society is transitioning into something bigger, though I can't tell whether it's good or bad. Either way, my mission is document every second of it. As our society evolves, so should our ability to document it.
Thank you to this community for all of your contributions, and having the passion for a similar mission. We as editors may appear as ghosts to the outside world, but we are the cog in the machine of documenting the beauty of humanity.
