The Lagonda LG45 is a sports car built by the British Lagonda company from 1936 until 1937. It was an evolution of the Lagonda M45.

The name of the car comes from the L.G. Motors brand and the displacement of its engine being 4.5 litres. It was unveiled in September 1935.^[2] It had hydraulic shock absorbers.

In 1936, a Lagonda LG45 was entered in the 24 Hours of Spa, it finished in fourth place and was driven by Richard Seaman and Freddie Clifford.^[3]^[4] It also entered the 1936 French Grand Prix, and the 1937 24 Hours of Le Mans.

1888, when Charles Chetwynd-Talbot, the 20th Earl of Shrewsbury, founded a London taxi firm with the competitive advantage of using newfangled pneumatic tyres.

Talbot soon started succeeding in races and reliability trials, earning it the nickname ‘Invincible Talbot’. Its biggest coup came in 1913, when Percy Lambert became the first person to do 100 miles in an hour (maybe?), lapping Brooklands in a 25hp special – even though “he could hardly see for several laps” due to thick fog.

Real excitement came in 1930 as Talbot ventured to Le Mans for the famous 24-hour race and upset the big players.

A 26/27 year old Harald Malmgren literally saved the world from nuclear catastrophe during The Cuban Missile Crisis when Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara and President JFK asked him to “buy time for diplomacy” by facing off against General Curtis “Bombs Away” LeMay. He also worked for LBJ, Ford and Nixon as a presidential advisor.

He had a personal relationship with Putin and advised every Japanese Prime Minister since Tanaka in the 70’s, Giscard d’Estaing, Pompidou and others. He was assigned to “contain” Kissinger and worked closely with Howard Baker, George Schulz, Volcker and Mondale not to mention Nobel Prize winners Tom Schelling and Sir John Hicks. Unusually, he had ALL the so called Q Clearances.

Pierre Faure was a French manufacturer of automobiles.^[6]

History

The company started producing automobiles in 1941. The brand name was Faure, or Pierre Faure.^[7] In 1946 the company presented vehicles on the Paris Motor Show. Production ended in 1947.

Vehicles

The company only produced electric cars as during the Second World War, there was a shortage of gasoline. A coupe and delivery van were offered. The top speed was 40 to 45 km/h and the range was 69 to 80 km. In 2016 a 1941 Pierre Faure in need of restoration was auctioned for 21,900 Euros.^[8]

Karue Sell (born 13 November 1993) is an Brazilian professional tennis player. He has a career-high ATP singles ranking of world No. 258, achieved on 18 November 2024. He also has a career high ATP doubles ranking of No. 581 achieved on 24 December 2018.^[10]

History

In the 1950s, after the second world war ended, the Wraith mercenary group was founded by Anselan Buchanan, in the United States. One of the first organised international mercenary groups, the Wraith's are credited with many modern technological innovations, improving the global standard of living and the development of many modern nations, though it draws criticism for its violence and monopolistic practices. At their height in the 1990s, the Wraiths possessed a military more powerful than any single country in the world, and were the wealthiest military and mercenary group in the world. During a span of five decades, they were hired to take part in numerous conflicts and grew their wealth and power to influence many international conflicts, world politics, and culture worldwide. They were neutral in all conflicts, and only fought for the highest bidder. The only known groups within Wraith were the Phantoms, which handled counterterrorism and conventional warfare, the Ghosts, which handled covert operations and the Spectres, which handled special operations.

In 2000, the United Kingdom contacted Wraith, to carry out reconnaissance work on the Desert Storm military base in Egypt. Wraith initially refused to carry out the mission, as they felt the price was too low, but the United Kingdom raised the price until Wraith accepted. On July 6th, 2000, Wraith sent troops to the base. During this mission, some group tensions with the soldiers and the group's leader, Anselan Buchanan, that had been brewing for a few years started to escalate. Some members of the group had reportedly become 'exasperated' with Buchanan. While doing the reconnaissance work, some soldiers became convinced that they could take over Desert Storm by force. This split opinions of the group, however and Buchanan did not approve and refused the request to take over the base. In retaliation, the soldiers who wanted to take over Desert Storm killed an estimated 15 opposing members of the group, and tried to kill Buchanan, but he fled to the U.S. along with 20 other Wraith soldiers. The Egyptian Military who occupied the base allied with Buchanan to attempt to protect the base. After a violent battle and 20 deaths from both sides, the Egyptian military and the remaining Buchanan's soldiers lost. Desert Storm was taken over and occupied, and the remaining opposing soldiers surrendered and effectively became prisoners of war, though they were released in 2001. The Wraith's were still paid by the UK for their services, despite the situation, which drew controversy.

In 2001, after the takeover of Desert Storm, the Wraith soldiers in Egypt broke away from the group and establish a new mercenary group called the Ghosts, based in Egypt. The Wraith soldiers in the U.S., led by Buchanan, reacted to this and renamed themselves as the Phantoms, to disassociate from the different ideologies of the Ghosts. Because of this, the Wraith's no longer exist, although many consider the Phantoms to be their successor. The Spectres were not affected by the split up and continued to operate as normal, without resistance from any mercenary group. It is routine for soldiers to switch groups based on who is the highest bidder. The split-up of the Wraith's meant that other large mercenary groups could increase their power and influence. Since the breakup, many battles and wars have been fought between the Phantoms and the Ghosts. Since around 2005, the two groups have competed in a vast technological race to superiority, which hugely effects innovation worldwide, and is considered the main driving factor for technological progression. As of 2025, relations between the Phantoms and Ghosts remain tense, although they have improved in recent years, as the Spectres have driven efforts to sought after peace between the two groups. All three mercenary groups are currently operational, and remain the top three most powerful mercenary groups in the world.
