My name is Eric, but usually I go by Robot Parade online now a days. The name comes from a They Might Be Giants song, of whom I am a "superfan". I'm also an active editor of This Might Be A Wiki. You can find more info about my story with TMBG on my userpage over at TMBW.
As for my real life, I'm currently a 20 year old music education major at Northeastern State University. I plan on being an elementary music teacher once I graduate while I prepare to possibly eventually pursue graduate studies. I've been in love with music for as long as I can remember, and now it's the main passion and drive in my life.
I joined Wikipedia a year ago, though I've only been editing consistently for about two months now. I guess I could be considered a puma at this point but who knows if the whole WikiFauna thing is even relevant on this site. I still consider myself pretty green when it comes to editing Wikipedia itself. However I'm very familiar with MediaWiki and its intricacies, working on various wikis (including TMBW) over the past 6 odd years.
Research interests
Music
|
- Most of my interests stem from my love of music. This includes:
- They Might Be Giants, naturally.
- Spanish Zarzuela (which I am currently doing my undergraduate research over)
- Composers
- Particularly Spanish and English composers, but I may sometimes review other pages.
- American football, specifically player biographies
- Currently on-and-off working on User:The Robot Parade/Soul Patrol (Oakland Raiders), mostly doing the source-collecting side.
- Tulsa, Oklahoma, currently undertaking a personal task to de-stubbify many Tulsa biographies and pages that have been left dormant for years.
- Recent Deaths
- Soon I also want to work with other WikiProjects such as Wikipedia:Article Rescue Squadron, or at least participate more at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. I think I need a bit more article renovation and creation experience under my belt, though.
Recent Deaths
Wikipedia
|
I have also been enjoying contributing towards the Recent Deaths section of the main page. I've always been interested in how Wikipedia handles the passing of the many people featured in their articles. This was first sparked by me noticing the unofficial rule of changing the primary photo of famous actors and media personalities when they passed away. (Looking at you, David Lynch.) Since then I've been frequently editing pages to get them up to RD standard, adding as many citations as I can and expanding when necessary. Click here for my ITN recognitions!

Recent Deaths Checklist
This is for my own reference when reviewing/cleaning up RD nominees. These aren't hard and fast rules I stick myself too, nor do I hold others to these standards. This is just a reference board for myself in case I get lost.
- Are the birth and death dates cited in the prose with proper, reliable citations? Birth/death locations included?
- Is there anything else in the infobox that needs to be included in the prose?
- Does the article cover the person's life as a whole (essentially from early life, through their career, until their death).
- Is there any information missing from said career section that should be included?
- Is there anything in the prose that is uncited? Do reliable sources exist for those statements, or should that information be deleted. Can that information be deleted?
- Specifically, check sections that are often left uncited. (Filmographies, player stats, etc.)
- Are the sources listed reliable? If they are unreliable, can they be replaced?
