Hello

Hey buddy. I saw your name in Wikiproject Bangladesh, and noticed you are interested in military. Are you related to Bangladesh Defence Forces by any chance? CaptShayan (talk) 08:40, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

Hello,
Due to Wikipedia:On privacy, confidentiality and discretion policy, I am forbid to disclose much further detail of personal information, But, I can tell you that, yes. I am related and, or perhaps enthusiastic on Bangladesh Military. Happy editing! Aaaas216& (talk) 09:03, 22 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Shah Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Gopalganj. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Post nominal

Hey there. I have seen you removing degrees from honorific suffix such as psc, afwc, ndc etc. Don't you know these are considered as post nominals in BANGLADESH ARMED FORCES and officer/jco/nco has authority to use it after their name? If you edit military articles I think you should have some basic knowledge about our armed forces. These were part of the article from a long time and you just removed it? Another thing I have seen is removing honorific suffix & prefix undet the reason "infobox military person does not need to add Prefixes and Suffixes". My man if it was unnecessary then the infobox creator wouldn't have added it. You should check articles of indian & pakistani generals, then I guess you would have some idea how to properly edit. 103.179.128.60 (talk) 19:35, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

Removing post nominals

Hello there. Hope you are having a good time. I have seen you removing psc, afwc, ndc etc from post nominals from various articles, can I ask you the reason? If you are related to army you should know officers are entitles to use it with there names, therefore it is necessary to add it in one's honorific suffix. If you see the official website of Bangladesh Army, you will see psc in General Waker's post nominal. Again if you see Armed Forces Division's website or BGB's website , you will see these with the respective office holder's name. If you ever get the chance to see the Army Officer's List (2006, 2011, 2014, 2021) you will see not only the medals such as SBP but also these degrees with the name. Since I have access to the latest one, I change the the informations based on the list.

Again I have seen you removing honorific suffix & prefix from articles having userbox military person. Is there any reason to do so? If you think this is "unnecessary" then the guy who created this infobox wouldn't have added it. Id advice you to stay away from editing military articles. As a person indirectly or directly related with the Bangladesh Army since 2007, this is not how you edit military articles. Another IP user also informed you about this, but I think you are unaware of it. Expecting a reply. Thanks. CaptShayan (talk) 05:18, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

Some of this is covered at MOS:POSTNOM BUT, there is a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Biography#MOS:POSTNOM about it. So far though there has been no change in MOS:POSTNOM.
Please also see the bit starting with "Editors should remember that the meaning of the most obvious (to them) post-nominal initials will not be obvious to some readers. When post-nominal initials are used, the meaning should be readily available to the reader"
Also covered in MOS:CREDENTIAL Doug Weller talk 10:47, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
This wikipedia and it is not maintained by Bangladesh Military, It is viewed by millions of people, Adding Bangladesh post nominals does not meet Wikipedia:Notability, hence most of readers would not even understand. Also @Doug Weller this user is a possible suspect of Wikipedia:MEAT. Should I make an SPI about this? Thanks. Aaaas216& (talk) 21:07, 12 March 2025 (UTC)
psc is not a bangladesh military term but a term used by most of the militaries of the world, check psc (military). afwc refers to armed forces war course, which is also similar to army war course of Pakistan army & Indian army (Army War College, Mhow). Hence I dont understand why do you keep removing titles such as psc, afwc & ndc from Honorific suffix.
If officials from India & Pakistan don't use psc, afwc & other degrees as post nominals it doesn't mean Bangladeshi officials wont. Kindly check other sources (BD Army, navy & air force website, BGB website / Army Officers List 2021 which is officially made by the Bangladesh Army). Removal of these degrees are not welcomed in the Bangladesh Armed Forces and thus you are not acknowledging their degrees.
Since you said most of the readers won't understand in that case you can a citation stating what does afwc mean while linking it to National Defence College (Bangladesh) as people obtain afwc from there. CaptShayan (talk) 07:33, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
@Aaaas216& all I am saying is properly add the honorific suffixes, if u think people won't understand add citations. If you think adding these are not worth it then try editing some other articles except bangladesh military. Because clearly you are ruining the articles in on or other way by removing informations. CaptShayan (talk) 07:49, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
@Aaaas216&@CaptShayan Please see WT:MOSBIO#Can someone please advise me on this discussion? Doug Weller talk 11:17, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
These are qualifications, and we don't use any postnoms for qualifications on Wikipedia. We only use postnoms relating to state honours and significant fellowships. -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:23, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
Hello Necrothesp,
However in Bangladesh Armed Forces, along with the Medals we use these qualifications as post nominal with our name. For example : Colonel Mohammad Shafquat,SPP, afwc, psc. Here SPP is a medal, and afwc and psc are armed forces war course & post staff college respectively.
I acknowledge your statement, but since it has been a tradition in Bangladesh Armed Forces, I believe this should also continue in wikipedia.
Although there are no articles about a few degrees such as afwc, hdmc in that case perhaps we can use a citation and state the full meaning of it and where the person has obtained the degree?
, CaptShayan (talk) 17:10, 25 March 2025 (UTC)
See Wikipedia:Ownership of content and MOS:POSTNOM for the reason we are not continuing those. You can discuss your opinions at WT:MOSBIO#Can someone please advise me on this discussion? as we are still figuring out. However I have added the Bangladeshi academic post noms in efn format so far on. Aaaas216& (talk) 03:02, 26 March 2025 (UTC)
This is also the case in the British Armed Forces. It is also the case with academic degrees. However, on Wikipedia we do not do this. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:18, 26 March 2025 (UTC)

Please don't use our articles as sources

As you did at Waker-Uz-Zaman. I'm referring to Awards and decorations of the Bangladesh Armed Forces. Doug Weller talk 11:31, 12 March 2025 (UTC)

Hey buddy, hope you are doing well. I think I had created a confusion earlier regarding post nominals. I want to clear it as in my point of view it is a serious issue. I expect your co-operation and mutual understanding regarding that. CaptShayan (talk) 17:22, 23 March 2025 (UTC)

Ziaur Rahman

Any reason to remove his appointment of 2ic 8 EBR from commands? That was his last Pakistan Army's appointment as he revolted being 2ic of 8 EBR and declared the Independence on behalf of Mujib. It's okay to remove Platoon Commander of PMA, but this is one of his most vital appointments. 𝗭𝗲𝗽𝗵𝘆𝗿 (ᴛᴀʟᴋ) 17:42, 30 July 2025 (UTC)

Rahman was the second in command of 8 EB. He may revolted against his commanding officer but he was not in charge of that unit. The command section need to include the units, forces or brigades that Rahman commanded directly, with few major appointments tied with army headquarters. The 8 EBR was assimilated with Z forces under Rahman but it was commanded by Major A. J. M. Aminul Haque during the liberation war. Aaaas216& (talk) 01:15, 1 August 2025 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to the region of South Asia (India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal), broadly construed, including but not limited to history, politics, ethnicity, and social groups, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged in, have 500 edits, and have an account age of 30 days in order to make edits related to two subtopics: (1) Indian military history, or (2) social groups, explicitly including caste associations and political parties related to India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Ameliorate

Ice cream made better, not ameliorated

Unusual uses of the word "ameliorate" have been creeping into articles, such as in this edit of yours. I've never seen the word used this way; it may not mean quite what you think. Although sometimes defined as "make better", it is only used when something bad is made a bit less bad. For example:

  • checkY The suffering of the flood victims was ameliorated by donated food and water. [They've still lost loved ones, their homes, their crops, etc., but their situation has improved a little]
  • ☒N The ice cream was ameliorated with whipped cream and a cherry on top. [Ice cream is already good, so enhancing it isn't ameliorating it]

In the articles where I've been seeing it recently, another word like expand, improve, promote, or transform would be the right word to clearly convey what is meant. --Worldbruce (talk) 18:14, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

I see, I did not know the proper definition, thank you :) Aaaas216& (talk) 11:29, 4 December 2025 (UTC)

Talk, don't edit war

Stop icon You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war, according to the reverts you've made to Ziaur Rahman. This means that you are repeatedly reverting content back to how you think it should be, despite knowing that other editors disagree. Once it is known that there is a disagreement, users are expected to collaborate with others, avoid editing disruptively, and try to reach a consensus – rather than repeatedly reverting the changes made by other users.

Important points to note:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive behavior – regardless of how many reverts you have made;
  2. Do not engage in edit warring – even if you believe that you are right.

You need to discuss the disagreement on the article's talk page and work towards a revision that represents consensus among everyone involved. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution if discussions reach an impasse. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue to engage in edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. --Worldbruce (talk) 21:27, 31 December 2025 (UTC)

January 2026

Stop icon Your recent editing history at Border Guard Bangladesh shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing a page's content back to how you believe it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree with your changes. Please stop editing the page and use the talk page to work toward creating a version of the page that represents consensus among the editors involved. Wikipedia provides a page explaining how this is accomplished. If discussions reach an impasse, you can request help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution such as a third opinion. In some cases, you may wish to request page protection while a discussion to resolve the dispute is ongoing.

If you continue edit warring, you may be blocked from editing Wikipediaespecially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's workwhether in whole or in part, or whether it involves the same or different material each timecounts as a revert. Also, please keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warringeven if you do not violate the three-revert rule if things indicate that you intend to continue reverting content on the page. Could you please explain the reverts on Muhammad Yunus page?

Hello @Aaaas216&:,

I noticed you reverted my two recent edits to the Muhammad Yunus article infobox. I was trying to add his current position as Chairman of the Yunus Centre (which he founded in 2008 and resumed after resigning as Chief Adviser on 17 February 2026) and to reorder the offices so the past interim government role is not placed above his ongoing primary affiliation.

From what I can see in recent reliable sources:

I believe this information is accurate, well-sourced, and relevant for the infobox (per WP:INFBOX and WP:RECENTISM – current long-term role over concluded temporary one).

Could you kindly explain what specific issue(s) you saw with those additions? Did I make any factual errors, sourcing problems, formatting mistakes, or violate any guideline? I would genuinely like to understand so I can improve the edit and reach consensus.

I have also started a discussion on the article talk page here: Click

Thank you in advance for your time and explanation.

Best regards, Eastiak shoron (talk) 19:57, 23 February 2026 (UTC)

It is not a Wikipedia:GNG, offices. Your edits are resembling Wikipedia:PUFFERY rather than encyclopedic due to emotional attachments of Yunus's recent contributions Aaaas216& (talk) 20:24, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply and for explaining your reasoning.
I respectfully disagree that WP:GNG applies here. The Muhammad Yunus article already exists and meets notability through extensive coverage (Nobel Prize, Grameen Bank, etc.). Adding or reordering his current chairmanship of the Yunus Centre (a verifiable, long-term role he resumed after resigning as Chief Adviser in February 2026) is a content/weight issue, not a notability one for offices/roles within the article.
Regarding WP:PUFFERY (WP:PUFFERY / Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Words to watch#Puffery), I agree we must avoid promotional language. My proposed infobox addition was very simple. Those were very neutral and factual—no peacock terms or emotional exaggeration.
My intent is purely encyclopedic: reflect his current primary affiliation (Yunus Centre chairman since 2008, ongoing post-interim government) alongside his past role, per WP:INFOBOX (prioritize current/long-term roles for living persons) and WP:RECENTISM (avoid over-emphasizing concluded temporary positions).
Thanks again for your input… I appreciate the feedback and want to get this right per policy.
Best,
Eastiak shoron (talk) 20:36, 23 February 2026 (UTC)
