WP:ECRCASTE

Hello, Abecedare. I have a small doubt, Could you provide some information about the ECRCaste Policy?

If a user requests edits to an article about caste-related issues on the talk page, a random editor responds "please establish consensus first."

As per this editor, if the user tries to form consensus on the talk page, can another editor remove their discussion with the summary "violation of WP:ECRCASTE"?

Even on the talk page, are accounts that don't have "Extended Confirmed User" rights prohibited from discussing/forming consensus? ~2025-37812-65 (talk) 10:14, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

@2025-37812-65: Pages related to caste are indeed edit-confirmed restricted, ie, editors with temporary and new accounts are not allowed to edit the article or participate in related discussions. So if you wish to edit in this topic area, please log-in into your existing account, request an unblock, and gain the needed experience with wikipedia's policies and practices. Continued sockpuppetry, including using multiple temporary accounts, is disruptive and just wastes your and other editors' time.
Pinging @Newslinger: as a heads-up and in case any admin follow-up is needed (I'm involved as an editor at Vanniyar). Abecedare (talk) 19:52, 3 December 2025 (UTC)
Hi Abecedare, sorry for the late response. After reviewing the situation again, I realized that I had misinterpreted a block log entry that linked to the talk page User talk:MIB-India as an indication of sockpuppetry, when the block log entry did not explicitly say so. Because of this, I am no longer confident that ~2025-34911-64 (talk · contribs) is a sockpuppet of MIB-India (talk · contribs), so I have re-tagged the associated temporary accounts as proven sockpuppets of ~2025-34911-64. WP:TAIV data is unhelpful for ~2025-37812-65 (talk · contribs), so I don't think any additional action beyond the WP:ECR warning in your reply is needed at this time. — Newslinger talk 06:21, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

Doreen Granpeesheh

Hi Abecedare — I’m looking for an uninvolved set of eyes on Talk:Doreen Granpeesheh. A paid-editing request from the BLP subject was posted, and while reviewing the article I noticed several BLP-sensitive content text where the citations don’t clearly support the subject-specific claims (risking WP:BLP/WP:V/WP:SYNTH and undue weight).

I pinged two WikiProjects to attract additional editors (Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Women_scientists#Doreen_Granpeesheh and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Women_in_Business), but there haven’t been any editor responses in ~10 days.

Given the BLP concerns, I removed one contentious paragraph any related "activist" labels: [| diff]. If you have time, I’d appreciate any additional guidance on how best to proceed. MarsTrombone (talk) 23:50, 18 December 2025 (UTC)

@MarsTrombone: I see that BlackKite has responded at Talk:Doreen_Granpeesheh. They are a highly experienced editor wrt both WP:BLP and WP:FRINGE that are relevant here, and should be able to help in resolving the content issues. If further input is needed, I would suggest posting at WP:BLPN and/or WT:MED noticeboards, where editors may have relevant expertise too. Just be sure to follow the WP:DR process, and given the previous issues you have had at this and a related article, to wait for consensus to develop in favor of your proposals before implementing them.
I don't intend to get involved in the content issues per se but let me know if I can be of help in any other way. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 04:57, 20 December 2025 (UTC)

Need Help with this

Hey @Abecedare, how have you been. If you remember in the past we had a brief discussion of what journals might be WP:RS when we are dealing with articles concerning India. I have seen a lot of AfDs where predatory journals are peddled... So I thought of writing an essay on how to spot predatory journals. If you are interested in helping out with this, do let me know :) Will appreciate it a lot Thanks and best wishes! Flyingphoenixchips (talk) 02:02, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
