Concern

For some reason, contributors are opening investigation into my history of editing. They said they are close to WP:CIR, and what is my outcome? What are the concerns about my editing so I can be better at editing pages with good faith? Could my edits be disruptive, constitute vandalism or something else? Thanks. • I saw your request for help, so I read the messages on this page, and checked your editing history. I hoped to be able to find something which I could explain to you, to try to help you see what people see as problematic. Unfortunately, while I did find numerous edits with problems, they all seemed to be just more of the same kinds of things that you have already been warned about, and if those warnings haven't made it clear to you why people think there are problems, then it's difficult to see what else I can say that is likely to be any more helpful. However, I did see one strange edit which may be worth mentioning. Why did you make this edit, in which you gave yourself what you said was "your only warning" about creating unsuitable pages? Was that meant to be a joke? If it wasn't, then what was it? It's difficult to see how you could have done that in the belief that it was a meaningful edit, but if you did then please explain what you had in mind.
  • From what I have seen, I think your biggest mistake has been rushing in and doing too much too fast, rather than starting out slowly and gently, and giving yourself time to learn how to do things. My advice to you is that for now you just stick to making small edits to make minor improvements to articles, and don't try to do anything else until you have much more experience. That is by far the best way to learn how Wikipedia works. Basically you have jumped right in and tried to do multiple things that you don't yet understand how to do. Don't create categories; don't create deletion discussions; don't move pages; don't create new articles; don't, in fact, do anything apart from making small edits to make minor improvements to existing articles. That advice may not appeal to you, because you are evidently full of enthusiasm, and you want to get the excitement of doing great things, but in the long run you will be able to get more great things done if you work up to them gradually, than if you rush ahead. The very fact that you have posted this message asking for help is an indication that you are not clear what you are doing. The fact that you ask is a good thing, because it means that you are willing to learn, but the best way of doing that learning is to slow down and do little things, so that you can gradually pick up how things work. Why did you make this edit, in which you gave yourself what you said was "your only warning" about creating unsuitable pages? I've said it a couple other times, but this-- as well as other instances, where Bill moves something or lists something for deletion or just in general does something only to immediately undo what he himself did-- reads to me like Bill is two or three editors sharing one account that have disagreements on what needs to happen.
Or maybe he's plural. Idk. I'm not Bill, and I'm not psychic; I can't pretend to know what's going on with Bill's account. Either way, the suggestion to slow down is a good one, but I do have a related suggestion: Stick to talk pages and XfD pages for a while.
My entire existence on Wikipedia, save for a few small edits, has been spent on WP:Redirects for Discussion; participating in discussions there has taught me how at least that part of Wikipedia works. From there I've slowly branched out to other parts of the site; I'm not at the point where I feel ready to make my own articles, nowhere close, but I feel like I'm slowly starting to get a handle on how to be a Wikipedian.
I suggest you do the same-- head over to WP:AfD or WP:RfD or another XfD page, and start discussing things with other Wikipedians, throwing in your two cents. As you go, you'll end up being linked to a lot of our various Essays and Guidelines and Policies, as they get linked in discussions in order to support various points other Wikipedians make; as you learn them, you'll also end up learning their shortcuts, and linking them yourself-- it's part of our lingua franca here (although uh, don't overdo it, and make sure you double-check and double-read the essays you link). In this way, you'll learn the groundwork we've already set up; you'll learn how-- and why-- we do things. 𝔏𝔲𝔫𝔞𝔪𝔞𝔫𝔫🌙🌙🌙 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔐𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔬𝔫𝔦𝔢𝔰𝔱 (talk) 04:15, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Nomination for discussion of Template:Stub-warning

Template:Stub-warning has been nominated for discussion. You are invited to comment on the discussion at the entry on the Templates for discussion page. TruenoCity (talk) 05:46, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

user:BilltheBison IF I may... you created this template on the 10th, and user:Trainsandotherthings stubbified the GE Dash 8-44CW article on the 8th... Did you by chance create this template as a response to that, with the idea that people should start using this template rather than just stubbifying without warning?
That... that's not how Wikipedia works either.
I'd like you to read the following essays, Bill; they should help point you further in the right direction re: how the site's supposed to work, and possibly help illuminate what went wrong here:
WP:CYCLE: An essay on how things like this are meant to be handled, through the cycle of "BOLD, Revert, Discuss"-- to wit, after your BOLD edit didn't pan out, Trainsandotherthings Reverted your edits, and then the next step was supposed to be, you heading to Talk:GE Dash 8-44CW and Discussing what'd just happened. i.e. "Hey, [[user:Trainsandotherthings]], I noticed that you reverted my edits, could you point me towards what I did wrong and how I can fix things?"
WP:POINT: "Do not disrupt Wikipedia in order to illustrate a point". Which is... the closest thing I can think of re: what you've been doing here.
When things don't pan out, please don't just Do Things in order to try and Fix it; TALK to us. Go to Talk pages, or XfD pages, or the Teahouse, and open up a discussion. I promise, none of us want to tear your head off, we're really nice, and we just want to make this internet encyclopedia the best it can be. User:Lunamann As a comment, Bill previously created Template:Reduce to stub which was listed for deletion and deleted. I'm not too sure what exactly the Reduce to stub template said, but by reading the deletion discussion, it probably was noting that an article has been reduced to a stub, which is very unnecessary to put a template noting a historical revision made. So I suspect Template:Stub-warning was created in response to that, and Bill intended for that template to be added before an article is stubified, which I believe is also a rather unnecessary template and therefore I listed it in TFD. This template was only transcluded on Draft:Goodman CKL that Bill created after it was declined for lacking any reliable sources and being too much like a manufacturing plan, before tagging it for WP:G7. While this template might have been created in good faith, I do agree with your point about learning how things work on Wikipedia rather than coming up with alternate solutions. In this scenario, there are already maintenance tags to note a problem rather than creating a tag to suggest WP:STUBBIFY as a solution. TruenoCity (talk) 03:00, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Do not create AfC categories

Do not create AfC categories like you did Category:AfC submissions by date/23 January 2026. There is a bot that does it. Gonnym (talk) 09:43, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
