Speedy deletion nomination of Dr.Arun Chockalingam

Hello BioEditss,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Dr.Arun Chockalingam for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Dr.Arun Chockalingam moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to Dr.Arun Chockalingam. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability, it is promotional and reads like an advertisement and you may have a possible Conflict of Interest. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Cabayi (talk) 10:16, 16 February 2025 (UTC)

It is now at Draft:Arun Chockalingam as professional titles do not belong in the article's title - WP:TITLE.
Your username suggests you have an interest in editing biographies. Please look at other biographies to see how it should be done. You need to show that Chockalingam is notable according to Wikipedia's standards - WP:NACADEMIC, citing reliable, verifiable, independent sources about him, not by him. Your text should also follow the manual of style. Hope that helps, Cabayi (talk) 10:31, 16 February 2025 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Arun Chockalingam

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Arun Chockalingam, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, group, product, service, person, or point of view and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Your submission at Articles for creation: Arun Chockalingam (February 28)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Rahmatula786 was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of people). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Hi Rahmatula786,
I recently made revisions to my draft article on Arun Chockalingam after it was previously declined. I have worked on improving the references and ensuring the content meets wikipedia's notability and verifiability standards.
Before submitting it for review again, I would appreciate your feedback on the following:
  1. Overall improvements - Is the draft now suitable for submission?
  2. Citations - Have I properly formatted and sourced them? Are they reliable?
  3. Any other concerns - Are there any issues that could lead to rejection again?
If you could pls take a look and share your insights, I would be very grateful.
Here I have attached the updated draft link: Draft:Arun Chockalingam

Do you know Arun Chockalingam?

BioEditss, there are already several notices above on this page asking about a possible conflict of interest with the subject of Draft:Arun Chockalingam. Are you Arun Chockalingam? Do you know Arun Chockalingam, or do you have any personal, educational, or professional connection or relationship with Arun Chockalingam? Please respond. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 20:01, 15 March 2025 (UTC)

Hi Mathglot,
§Yes, I know Arun Chockalingam in an educational context through someone but have no direct personal, professional or financial connection with him. My edits are based on reliable sources, and I aim to maintain neutrality in accordance with Wikipedia's guidelines.
As a new editor on Wikipedia, I am open to feedback and look forward to any reviews or guidance from experienced editors to help improve my contributions. BioEditss (talk) 20:23, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Hmm; that seems like a gray area to me. If I were you, I would post a message at the Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard, and ask whether you should declare a conflict of interest or not. You can just very briefly introduce yourself, link your Draft, link this discussion, and mention that a user recommended that you come to the COIN for further assistance with this question. You will get sage advice from the folks there. If you prefer, I can add the message there for you; let me know. Thanks, Mathglot (talk) 20:59, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi Mathglot, thank you for your guidance. I'll go ahead and post the message at COIN and will share the link once done. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! BioEditss (talk) 22:52, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi Mathglot, Thanks for your guidance on the wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard process. I planned to go ahead and post the message myself, but as a new editor, I find it a bit tricky to navigate the process. Would you be able to help me by posting the message on my behalf? If so, I'd really be thankful to you. If you need any details from me, please let me know.
Thanks again for your support! BioEditss (talk) 23:16, 15 March 2025 (UTC)
Sure thing. Posted at COIN: here. Mathglot (talk) 04:04, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi Mathglot, thanks for your guidance and post in COIN. Looking forward for more guidance. BioEditss (talk) 00:28, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi Mathglot, Thank you for your guidance. Received a clarification for which you posted at COIN for the COI. Thank you again! BioEditss (talk) 19:38, 19 March 2025 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Arun Chockalingam (June 5)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by Ldm1954 were:
This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject.
This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.
The comment the reviewer left was:
This page is a mess. It is a stack of claims that he did many things, quite a few of which are not relevant - all academics organise conferences, have roles on boards etc, this is routine. It also has claims that he wrote many books, when for at least those I checked he is either an editor or contributor. To have a WP:BLP requires demonstration of notability, not an advert about him. We need a clean indicator of his publications (no bragging) so we can check WP:NPROF#C1, for instance a GScholar listing. We also need clear indication of any major awards.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
