Proposed deletion of File:Ryan Wesley Routh's mugshot in February 2010.jpg

Notice

The file File:Ryan Wesley Routh's mugshot in February 2010.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free mugshot being used in Ryan Wesley Routh#Life, career, and legal issues which fails WP:NFCC#3a and WP:NFCC#8. There is already one mugshot of Routh being used for primary identification purposes in the main infobox. A second one from a earlier arrest isn't needed simply to show how he looked 14 years earlier. There's also no real contextual reason for a second mugshot per WP:NFC#CS since there's no need for readers to see a mugshot to understand the reliably sourced statement, " On February 10, 2010, he was convicted of possessing stolen goods. For each of these charges he was given probation." and there's no sourced critical commentary specifically about this mugshot (not the arrest but the mugshot itself) anywhere in the article.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:32, 5 November 2024 (UTC)

Oh alright. I understand. CMBGAMER 2018 (talk) 06:36, 5 November 2024 (UTC)
There are basically three options here and they are as follows.
  1. If you do nothing or don't care, the file will end up being deleted seven days or so after it was proposed for deletion.
  2. If you disagree with the assessment given above, you can WP:DEPROD the file; it will then be brought up for discussion at WP:FFD, where you'll have the chance to establish a consensus in favor of keeping it.
  3. If you understand, accept and aren't disputing why the file was proposed for deletion, you can speed things up a bit by adding the syntax {{db-author}} to the file's page and requesting that it be deleted per speedy deletion criterion G7.
If you have any questions about the above, feel free to ask. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:47, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
how do I delete the file exactly? I'm fine with deleting it CMBGAMER 2018 (talk) 01:48, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
Only Wikipedia administrators can delete pages (e.g. articles, files, talk pages); you can nominate the file for deletion if you want by following Option #3 above, and it will be deleted as soon as an administrator notices your request. You could also do nothing as explained in Option #1 above, and the file will most likely end up deleted in about a week if nobody argues that it shouldn't. Whichever of those two options you choose it up to you and the result it likely going to be the same; Option #3 just pretty much guarantees the file will be deleted most likely later today or sometime tomorrow at the latest. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:11, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
alright. Hopefully I did it correctly CMBGAMER 2018 (talk) 02:21, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
You added the wrong template, but that's OK since it's easy to fix. I can do it for you, but you'll probably learn more if you do it yourself. Here's what to do. Go to the file's page and click on the "View history" tab at the top. In the history page that opens up, you'll see a record of all the edits made to the page, and the edit you made should be at the very top. Click on "undo" and a new page will appear. Leave a edit summary, click on "Show preview" to check your work, and then click on "Publish changes". That's what known as a WP:SELFREVERT and will remove the template you added. In order to add the correct template, click on "Edit" at the top of the file's page and add the syntax {{db-author}} to the very top of the page that opens up. Once you've done that, add an edit summary, click on "Show preview" and then click on "Publish changes". If after reading the above, you're still not sure what to do, then I can do it for you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 02:37, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
The file's been deleted so everything worked out in the end. If you're planning on uploading files and aren't sure whether it would be OK to do so, you can always ask for feedback at WP:MCQ, WP:HD or WP:THQ. Someone should be able to help you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 03:54, 6 November 2024 (UTC)
Alright thanks CMBGAMER 2018 (talk) 03:55, 6 November 2024 (UTC)

Replaceable non-free use File:The sound-call of the White Bellbird.ogg

Thanks for uploading File:The sound-call of the White Bellbird.ogg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 11:21, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

copying within Wikipedia

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved content from Attempted assassination of Donald Trump in Florida into 2024 United States presidential election. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content (here or elsewhere), Wikipedia's licensing requires that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s).

When copying within Wikipedia, at a minimum, give attribution in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination.

Please add attribution if no one has done so yet. If you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. -- mikeblas (talk) 18:11, 10 October 2025 (UTC)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Regarding your recent edits to Kim Yong-hyun (general) when you modified the page, you introduced unknown parameters. Just because you specify |some_param=some_variable does not always mean that variable will display. The |some_param= must be defined in the template. You can look at the documentation for the template you are using but it is also helpful to use the preview button before you save your edit; this helps you find any errors you have made and ensure that the values you have added are displaying correctly. Below the edit box is a Show preview button. Pressing this will show you what the page will look like without actually saving it. It is strongly recommended that you use this before saving. Payton’s middle name

Hi, I am the one who initially posted Payton’s middle name on WPD based on the court documents. I have no idea why people are so desperate to add it to Wikipedia now, I don’t even think that’s allowed. Do you know where you found his middle name, whether it be WPD or somewhere else? I know it made its way onto an effortpost but didn’t know if it was spreading somewhere else I don’t know about. I have been trying to avoid WPD on advice of my therapist (odd obsessions) so just wondering. ~2026-83095-2 (talk) 20:16, 6 February 2026 (UTC)

No, I did not find it on any gore site. I got curious and decided to read some court documents related to the Buffalo shooting (mainly out of boredom) and that's how I found it. Then I remembered the middle name wasn't on the Wikipedia page and that's when I added it. CMBGAMER 2018 (talk) 20:39, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
I am aware of what WPD is, and I am proud that you're taking therapy and avoiding it. Just wanted to say keep up the good work! CMBGAMER 2018 (talk) 20:41, 6 February 2026 (UTC)
