It is not necessary to give away the ending, thus ruining the entire movie for people.
In reading hundreds of movie articles here, it is obvious that it is not necessary to wreck the experience for hundreds of people (or more) by disclosing the outcome of the movie. One can write a very well done article without giving away the whole main point. It has been done so many times, hundreds or even thousands.
To give it away and thereby wreck the entire experience might be considered by some to be lazy writing. It also demonstrates disrespect for the readers/movie viewers. Many people feeling angry and frustrated when they are unnecessarily given unwanted information about a movie's plot or ending. That can be so easily avoided by just using a little bit of effort in the wording of an article or review.
If there are guidelines somewhere on how to write an article on a movie, it should be stated very clearly there that Spoilers are absolutely NOT acceptable. If guidelines exist for this I don't have any idea where they are.
If a person can't figure out how to avoid giving away info that will destroy the entire experience of the movie for everyone, they shouldn't write or edit the article at all.
I suspect what happened here is that somebody copied verbatim from a magazine, and that person didn't bother making any changes, because that takes actual thought. Yet it is SO very easy to write it in the proper way, that leaves out the info that would spoil people's experience. It is not necessary to include every detail of a movie and thereby ruin the entire experience for everyone. I don't know if guidelines exist or where they might be. If they do exist it would be great if someone could tell me where. I do know there are many examples here on Wikipedia of really well written sections describing the plot of a movie that don't give away anything that might ruin the movie for future viewers. - @Cat Majiv: See Wikipedia:Spoiler. - Denimadept (talk) 21:04, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Denimadept Thanks so much for your reply. I read the article that you linked to, but I will have to read the other articles that it linked to before I can form a firm opinion, and hopefully decide how to proceed. That may take a little time. Thanks again for the excellent help you've given me! Cat Majiv (talk) 22:51, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
I did none of the things I am accused of here!
SOMEBODY IS IMPERSONATING ME. I need to talk to a real live person. Someone please tell me how I can get hold of a person who will get this fixed. I am being threatened with being kicked off Wikipedia! HELP! Cat Majiv (talk) 10:00, 14 January 2026 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contribution(s). However, as a general rule, while user talk pages permit a small degree of generalisation, other talk pages such as Talk:Truss bridge are strictly for discussing improvements to their associated main pages, and many of them have special instructions on the top. They are not a search engine, a chatbot, or a general discussion forum about the article's topic or any other topic. If you have questions or ideas and are not sure where to post them, consider asking at the Teahouse. Thanks. - Adolphus79 (talk) 09:06, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Adolphus79 Thank you for so promptly replying! There were no instructions, and I thought what I'd written had disappeared into thin air. I'm not happy with how Wikipedia has handled this, as I had to write 3 more posts after the first disappearance, before getting an answer, but it is a small thing I guess. Several hours of my time has been wasted.
- In the first 2 posts I asked a question (with an explanation) about images in general, because I can find nowhere else to ask it. Because what I see in the images here is usually quite sloppily done, I felt that this outstandingly good example would be a useful place to say "This is how it should be done."
- No matter how annoyed I am about the policy, the info you gave me has been very timely and helpful, so thanks very much for letting me know. It isn't you that I'm annoyed at. I just want to drop this now, but I do still want to pursue the points made in my posts about high and low quality handling of images. Would the village pump be a better place to raise my concern about images in general? Cat Majiv (talk) 09:49, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
