Invitation to participate in user research with Wikimedia Foundation

Hello,

I'm Jahnavi, a design researcher at the Wikimedia Foundation (WMF). The Language and Product Localization Team is conducting a study on how editors create new articles or add new sections to existing articles on Wikipedia. We’d also like you to explore some design concepts and provide feedback. Based on your experience, we believe you would be a valuable participant in this study and would like to invite you to take part in an interview to share your insights on creating new sections or articles on Wikipedia.

This study is taking place between 23rd Sept - 6th Oct. The interview lasts about 75 minutes and is conducted remotely over Google Meet in English. Please note that you would be required to share your screen to demonstrate your process and explore the design concepts. We can provide live interpretation into your preferred language upon request. We are pleased to offer a digital thank you gift through our partner service, Tremendous, for completing the interview.

If you would like to participate in an interview, please complete this short form. I will contact you using the email you provide in the form with instructions on how to participate.

If you have any questions or concerns about this research, please feel free to ask me. I look forward to hearing from you,

Speedy deletion nomination of Wood-free paper (disambiguation)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Wood-free paper (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G14 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is:

  • a disambiguation page with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" which lists only one extant Wikipedia page (i.e., there is a primary topic);
  • a disambiguation page that lists zero extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title; or
  • a redirect with a title ending in "(disambiguation)" whose target is neither a disambiguation page nor page that has a disambiguation-like function.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Thanks, 1isall (talk | contribs) 20:36, 25 September 2025 (UTC)

List of paper products moved to draftspace

Thanks for your contributions to List of paper products. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit the draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Significa liberdade (she/her) (talk) 23:24, 8 October 2025 (UTC)

Thank you for taking the time to review the page. I was under the impression that for a list of paper products with all blue links would follow wp:facts and verifiability would be in the articles. Do I just need to cite the lead? chickenpox4dinner (talk) 23:46, 8 October 2025 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Paper, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Printer paper.

Speedy deletion nomination of Association of Shelter Veterinarians

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Association of Shelter Veterinarians requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, society, or group that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. - ExcitedA. It may be a good idea to look at this. 18:31, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

@ExcitedA Thank you for the clear action, I have moved the page to userspace at User:Chickenpox4dinner/sandbox/Association of Shelter Veterinarians; I will refrain from posting half-baked drafts in the future. chickenpox4dinner (talk) 19:08, 5 January 2026 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:East Slavic Kannonik Scaliger 38b ms manuscript.png

Thank you for uploading File:East Slavic Kannonik Scaliger 38b ms manuscript.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 09:25, 10 January 2026 (UTC)

Non-free use of File:Faroe cod tongue box lippukassan.png

Thank you for uploading File:Faroe cod tongue box lippukassan.png. However, there is a concern that the use of the file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. Details of this problem, and which specific criteria that the film may not meet, can be obtained by going to the file description page. If you feel that this image does meet those criteria, please place a note on the file description or talk page explaining why. Do not remove the {{di-fails NFCC}} tag itself.

An administrator will review this file within a few days, and having considered the opinions placed on the file page, may delete it in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion or remove the tag entirely. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 09:32, 10 January 2026 (UTC)

Draft:Roast pork

Hello! I see you are interested in creating culinary articles. I noticed there was an article on German Wikipedia for roast pork, but not one in English. Caul fat cats?

I see you've been doing some work in this area, and I wondered if you might think about your change to Faggot (food) with me for a moment? Faggots are fantastic, but I don't believe that they are a dish that deserves this categorisation, as the caul is used purely to maintain the shape of the faggot during cooking, rather than as an integral necessary part of the dish. The less fat on the caul the better too. I'd like to remove this category, but I thought you might have some thoughts. - Walter Ego 00:14, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

@Roxy the dog Thanks for the message -- Id be more inclined to agree if there was a common catchall for 'meat in caul fat', like 'sausage' is for meat in intestine, but as the encyclopedia currently stands, I think it is useful to include in this new category for improved navigation and expansion efforts. Id encourage you to keep the categorization and investigate other similar foods in the category-- maybe there is a superior treatment I'm unaware of. Thanks again! chickenpox4dinner (talk) 01:02, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
I wont be changing your work, (I'm a stranger to Categories basically), I just wanted to ask. Thanks for your response. Have you ever tried them? - Walter Ego 01:17, 21 January 2026 (UTC)
@Roxy the dog No, but now I have an excuse! chickenpox4dinner (talk) 01:19, 21 January 2026 (UTC)

Metalwork edits

Are you sure you know what you are doing here? I've had to revert one of your edits, & do another properly. Johnbod (talk) 18:45, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

They were bold edits, sure, but I think they were correct.
  • I put gilding in Category:Artworks in metal as the relevant subcat of Category:Decorative arts, so it should not be in the latter as well per WP:SUBCAT -- none of the cats I've been working with at WP:CAT#NON-DIFFUSE afaik.
  • The merge I did was based on the sources not directly supporting 'French bronze' as a distinct varietal of bronze; the lede was based on an encyclopedia opining about contemporary bronze _from_ France. Since my research didn't turn up anything, it just looked like OR, given it was an unmarked stub too. The redirect target being French sculpture was due to my research on Wikipedia Library using the term 'French bronze' in relation to French bronzeworks.
Let me know what you think, I am still pretty confident in the edits you reverted. Thanks, chickenpox4dinner (talk) 19:11, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

WikiCup 2026 March newsletter

The first round of the 2026 WikiCup ended on 26 February. As some of you may have noticed, good article nomination reviews now receive 10 points, an increase from 5 points in the previous year, as per a consensus at WT:CUP. This point increase has been retroactively applied to all good article reviews for which competitors have claimed points in this round. Peer reviews, which continue to be worth 5 points, are now listed in the same section as featured article candidate reviews, rather than with good article reviews. Everyone who competed in round 1 will advance to round 2 unless they have withdrawn or been banned. No other changes to the round-point system have been made for this year.

Round 1 was competitive. Three contestants scored more than 1,000 round points, and the top 16 contestants all scored more than 300 round points. The following competitors scored more than 800 round points:

The full scores for round 1 can be seen here. During this round, contestants have claimed 7 featured articles, 16 featured lists, 2 featured-topic articles, 168 good articles, 13 good-topic articles and more than 50 Did You Know articles. In addition, competitors have worked on 14 In the News articles, and they have conducted nearly 700 reviews. The tournament points table will be updated within the next few days.

Remember that any content promoted after 26 February but before the start of Round 2 can be claimed in Round 2. Invitations for collaborative writing efforts or any other discussion of potentially interesting work is always welcome on the WikiCup talk page. Remember, if two or more WikiCup competitors have done significant work on an article, all can claim points. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, feel free to review one of the nominations listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Category:Meat horses

@Chickenpox4dinner: I see you created a new category, Category:Meat horses, which you have started to fill with draft horse breed articles... up to 46 breeds so far. What is your source for adding these particular breeds?   ▶ I am Grorp ◀ 18:43, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

I did a deepcat search on horse breeds with mention of horsemeat. I included breeds that were described as being bred for the purpose of horsemeat, not horse breeds that were historically slaughtered for meat in short periods e.g. during Soviet culls of Central Asian horses, or wartime. chickenpox4dinner (talk) 18:52, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
