Oxyeleotris colasi
Hi. Re your request for the paper on Oxyeleotris caeca, my French contact is still searching for it. In the meantime, he kindly but slightly randomly sent me the paper "Oxyeleotris colasi (Teleostei: Eleotridae), a new blind cave fish from Lengguru in West Papua, Indonesia". If you're interested, I can zap it over if you drop me an email? I note that Oxyeleotris colasi is a red link. I am not really a zoologist. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 15:53, 5 September 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @SunloungerFrog, thanks for looking into this. I think I found that paper on researchgate, so if it's that one then no need to email. They probably came across it as it is in the same journal, I think. O. caeca and O. colasi are likely convergent evolutions, possibly from the same related Oxyeleotris species. I think any frog surely has the power of a zoologist inside them? CMD (talk) 00:37, 6 September 2025 (UTC)
- It is indeed that paper.

Ha, maybe you're right and I should give it a go! Anyway, I'll let you know if there is any further movement on the O. Caeca paper. Cheers, SunloungerFrog (talk) 06:24, 7 September 2025 (UTC)

Acronym frequencies
I processed the past ~year of ANI threads to get the most commonly cited acronym'd pages. Here's the first several results:
Extended content |
|---|
1146 WP:NOTHERE 574 WP:CIR 365 WP:OR 348 WP:RS 318 WP:AGF 283 WP:NPA 281 WP:BATTLEGROUND 268 WP:BOOMERANG 263 WP:BLP 255 WP:IDHT 243 WP:ASPERSIONS 239 WP:OWN 233 WP:NPOV 200 WP:AIV 198 WP:V 194 WP:CIVIL 192 WP:BRD 188 WP:3RR 172 WP:SPI 162 WP:ANI 160 WP:COI 158 WP:SYNTH 120 WP:ONUS 118 WP:SPA 110 WP:ROPE |
WP:IAR appeared at rank 78 with 41 mentions (plus 3 as WP:IGNORE) and WP:GNG appeared at rank 60 with 51 mentions. Some caveats for this are that this counts, for example, wp:competence and wp:cir as different. It only counts actual links. And I used an extremely simple regex that tried to not include acronyms that "shouldn't count", like linking to a discussion that has an acronym in the title. A parser would be much better. But I guess it's good enough for a first approximation. closhund/talk/ 09:23, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
- Fantastic work @Closhund. The caveat about counting links to the same page differently is a benefit given the question at hand, which is what a user might see the most. A new user would likely not know wp:competence and wp:cir lead to the same place for example. Understandable that CIVIL is higher than CIV. The environment of AN/I definitely showing through in those top ones. CMD (talk) 09:33, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

Please can you help me create a Wikipedia Article about "Benjamin Angeles"?
Good morning @Chipmunkdavis, please can you help me create a dedicated Wikipedia Article about "Benjamin Angeles"? He is known as a Filipino Singer-songwriter on google search. Please help me. Thank you! ~2026-25403 (talk) 02:53, 9 January 2026 (UTC)

January–February 2026 NPP drive - Phase 2

Welcome to Phase 2 of the January–February 2026 NPP drive. During Phase 1, we reviewed 16,658 articles and 4,416 redirects, and there is currently a backlog of 16,475 articles and 23,782 redirects in the queue. Fantastic job! Completing 22,502 patrols in the first phase made a significant dent in the backlog. Let's keep our foot on the gas for Phase 2, and I hope we can achieve even more reviews than Phase 1. Best of luck!

On GAN
Hi Chipmunkdavis! As mentioned at WT:GAN#Questionable review?, I find the competence of the GAN reviewer to be somewhat questionable. Since I am planning to promote the article to FA, I was hoping to receive constructive feedback during the GAN stage to improve the article before submitting it for further reviews, and the current situation concerns and worries me deeply. I am not sure what to do at this point. Should I ask for a third opinion, or is there anything I can do to help Roblox navigate the GAN process properly? I look forward to your advice and thank you very much! —👑PRINCE of EREBOR📜 14:56, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, I left a message on their talkpage earlier today, the best thing to do for them is give advice over time. Regarding preparing for FA, your process is understandable, but I would move on to a WP:PR where you reach out to relevant active WikiProjects and perhaps FA mentors. That process can elicit much more specific advice regarding what is needed for FAC. CMD (talk) 15:45, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you so much for reaching out to Roblox and discussing the issue with them! Yes, I will definitely submit the article for PR later, but since in my previous GA reviews, all the reviewers were very meticulous and provided a lot of constructive feedback that helped me improve the articles, and I originally thought I could benefit from their input again as I prepare for my potential first FA. I have left some advice for Roblox and will try to guide him through the GAN, but if any issues arise, would you mind providing a fresh pair of eyes or a third opinion? Many thanks!! —👑PRINCE of EREBOR📜 04:38, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

Appreciation for your approach
Thank you for helping ground discussions in relevant policies and sourcing considerations. I appreciate you taking the time to link guidelines and explain the reasoning behind concerns. This type of educational-approach helps uplift members of the community.
Redirecting debates between editors toward concrete issues like sourcing expectations makes it much easier for editors like myself to understand how to improve contributions. Your approach is a great example of keeping discussions constructive, respectful, and policy-driven.
Thanks again, keep up the great work! Jpstrommen95 (talk) 04:25, 11 March 2026 (UTC)
DYK for Aitape Skull
On 13 March 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Aitape Skull, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that the Aitape Skull (pictured) may be part of the remains of the oldest known tsunami victim? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Aitape Skull. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Aitape Skull), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

DYK on caves
I think you have a good article contender nearly as is. You should nominate it!
Kingsmasher678 (talk) 00:37, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks @Kingsmasher678, I appreciate it. I think it's my first proper cave article, aside from Asphendou Cave petroglyphs which is less on the cave and more on the petroglyphs. I don't tend to go the GAN route often, but if I do is there a model cave article you'd recommend as an example? CMD (talk) 05:07, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
