Please use edit summaries more often

When you make a series of edits with no edit summaries, like these, it's much more difficult for other editors to understand what it is you changed. If you had simply taken the 5 seconds to type out "changed photo" and "added link", I and other editors with the article on our watchlists can quickly see what you did and spend much less time checking edits. You're an experienced editor I see editing fairly often so I generally trust your edits, but please make more of an effort to use edit summaries. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 14:26, 25 January 2023 (UTC)

Understood. I often publish too fast before I think so I apologize for this in advance. Davidng913 (talk) 14:33, 25 January 2023 (UTC)
A majority of your recent edits still lack edit summaries, including at least one reversion of an obviously good-faith edit. 4300streetcar (talk) 02:22, 2 September 2025 (UTC)

March 2023

I hate to bother you, but I need some input from someone. I recently remade CNW 1385’s page from scratch, but right now I’m debating over whether or not I should get rid of this photo.

[1] This has been put in categories for the Strasburg Rail Road, but that doesn’t hold up, as sources I’ve recently found state that the wheels were sent directly to the more remote SPEC Machine. It gives me the feeling these aren’t even 1385’s wheels, but I wanted to hear someone else’s thoughts before I do anything about it. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 23:51, 22 March 2023 (UTC)

May need to look at more photos of the 1385 itself and see if the drivers look identical. Chances are, if they're not of the 1385, whoever uploaded the image had no idea which wheels those belong to and probably slapped a random locomotive onto the file. That's my opinion. Do feel free to ask other people about it. Thanks for reaching out! Davidng913 (talk) 23:57, 22 March 2023 (UTC)
Alright, not a problem. I just want to be sure. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 00:05, 23 March 2023 (UTC)
Okay false alarm. It turns out I just found a source that outright said No. 1385's driving wheels were sent to Strasburg. So there's that. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 06:59, 23 March 2023 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of File:Morrison–Knudsen logo.jpg

Notice

The file File:Morrison–Knudsen logo.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused file. Higher quality version available at File:Morrison-Knudsen Logo, August 1991.svg. Nor realistic encyclopedic reason to retain this one as well.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Edit request on protection June 24, 2025 at R179 (New York City Subway car)

As of today June 24, 2025 the R179 is no longer temporarily running on the E train, F train, and R train now it is made up all R160 check this sentences to be fixed:

Description and features

The LED side destination sign of an R179 car
The R179 FIND display

The R179s are numbered 3010–3327. Cars numbered 3010–3049 and 3238–3327 are configured into five-car sets, comprising 130 cars, which are assigned to the A and Rockaway Park Shuttle and are based out of Pitkin Yard. Cars numbered 3050–3237 are configured into four-car sets, comprising 188 cars. Most of them are assigned to the J, M, and Z based out of East New York Yard, while the rest are assigned to the C based out of 207th Street Yard.[1]:11 As of March 2025, some R179s from the A and C routes are temporarily assigned to the E, F, and R.[2] The order replaced all remaining R32s and R42s, which dated to the 1960s and early 1970s.[1]:11 The R179s were also the last subway car order to be built by Bombardier Transportation prior to being acquired by Alstom in January 2021.[3] The R179s are visually very similar to the R143s and R160s, but the three car types are not interoperable with each other due to electrical incompatibilities between them.[4] 148.76.247.205 (talk) 06:28, 24 June 2025 (UTC)

Edit request on protection June 25, 2025 at R160 (New York City Subway car)

As of today June 25, 2025 the R160 is no longer running on the G train now it is made up all R211A/T check this sentences to be fixed:

Description

The LED side destination sign of an R160 car
The R160 FIND display

There are two versions of the R160: the R160A (built by Alstom, numbered 8313–8712, 9233–9802, & 9943–9974) and the R160B (built by Kawasaki, numbered 8713–9232 & 9803–9942).[5] The two car types differ only in a few ways; both can interoperate with each other. The R160As and the majority of the R160Bs utilize the same traction motors as the R142s, while the rest of the R160Bs utilize traction motors similar to those tested on R143s 8205–8212.[6] Both versions of the R160s are very similar to the R143s and R179s, but the three car types are not interoperable with each other due to electrical incompatibilities between them.[7][8][9]

The R160 cars are configured in either four-car sets or five-car sets. 372 R160A cars (8313–8652 & 9943–9974) are configured as four-car sets and maintained at East New York Yard for the BMT Eastern Division. All four-car sets are assigned to the J, M and Z trains, but sets 8313-8376 are able to run on the L alongside the line's fleet of R143s. The remaining 630 R160A cars as well as all R160Bs are configured as five-car sets and maintained at Jamaica Yard for the E, F, G and R trains. 148.76.227.89 (talk) 03:49, 25 June 2025 (UTC)

Also can you fix the click link website on E, F and R train is on it here I just highlighted on the letter:

In early 2025, a disproportionately high number of R160s running on the E, F, and R developed wheel problems as a result of a track defect along one of these routes.[10] This issue resulted in a shortage of rolling stock that lasted several months; the MTA ultimately bought 3,000 additional sets of wheels, after the R160 wheel replacements exhausted the MTA's supply of spare wheels.[11] ~2025-42685-03 (talk) 07:04, 24 December 2025 (UTC)

4014's original tender fuel conversion

I don't see any plans cancelled on 4014's original tender being converted to carry oil: https://www.facebook.com/RailroadingHeritage/posts/pfbid0YfYYhta9f3tYiViFpcJBvZpfwziTJ4Zeux7wkxiQncnj6bQxygT3CnEdoS76TerGl Trainsfan13 (talk) 03:42, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

It’s not. It’s the tender swap between 3985 and 4014 that’s cancelled. I kinda saw this coming after 4014 had PTC equipment installed in its current tender (from 3985). Davidng913 (talk) 04:07, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
