Revdel

Hi, young Fritter. I see you revdel'd the edit in Dot's archive. Perhaps I should have done that when I reverted — I'm afraid I just assumed it was all made up. I still think so, but one revdel too many is certainly better than one too few. Happy new year! Bishonen | tålk 09:59, 8 January 2026 (UTC).

Incorrect usage of Template:uw-botuhblock

The following accounts don't have the word "bot" in the usernames, but were blocked for this incorrect reason. As far as I can tell, each of these was a misclick in Twinkle:

@Abdrybak: Thanks. I'll have a look. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 15:42, 10 January 2026 (UTC)
Done Thanks again. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 15:53, 10 January 2026 (UTC)

I've been an admin for a long time.

But, sadly, my life circumstance is such that I do not have as much time for adminning as once I had. And I don't want to be the sort that clings (lovingly? nostalgically?) to adminship as though it were a favorite worn out sweater that hangs in the closet, no longer used. I am therefore putting my dessysop request in with the bureaucrats. It's time to let go. I thank all those I've worked with who have made this a rewarding experience. I'll be around occasionally, but not as much as I would like. Best, -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 12:14, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

I'm really sorry to see you hand in your bit. Hopefully handing it in means you have much less nonsense to deal with. Here's to a (slightly) simpler life, and hopefully more happiness! --Yamla (talk) 12:33, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
You will be missed as an admin and a voice of reason, Deepfriedokra. Sorry to see you hand in the mop. Lectonar (talk) 12:36, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Echoing what the others have said, thank you for your years of work as an admin and as an editor. Lynch44 13:58, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
It's been five years since I retired from my job. And I still have stress nightmares about it. So far, no Wikipedia nightmares. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 14:24, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
It takes a great deal of strength and wisdom to relinquish a role. I offer you heartfelt congratulations on having both.
That your cleaning up of the floors with your mop will be missed is almost too obvious to say, but your work will be missed. 🇵🇸🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦🇵🇸 14:30, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
I will miss seeing you around at UTRS. Enjoy non-adminship! Giraffer (talk) 14:30, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Been a pleasure adminning beside you. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:32, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

dang. I just posted this on talkpage of DannyS712, and saw your talkpage. I hope everything is well with you IRL. I also hope you stay true to you statement "I'll be around occasionally". You were admin since 2007, that is indeed long. Take care buddy. —usernamekiran (talk) 18:31, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your service, you will be missed, friend. Cheers to your newer, slower endeavors :) - FlightTime (open channel) 21:03, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

Thank you for everything you have done here. You have been a great help as an admin, and you will be dearly missed. I wish you all the best going forward. JeffSpaceman (talk) 14:05, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
Your template has long held a spot on my userpage for ease of access, so when I went to investigate the redlink, my heart sank to see your decision to relinquish the mop. To say that your editing approach, calm-headed philosophy, and desire to help users has acted as a North Star to me (and others) would be an understatement. I just hope you know I've always appreciated your contributions, with and without the bit, and your absence will be dearly missed across the project. I wish you all the best in your future endeavours, whatever they may be. Bobby Cohn 🍁 (talk) 00:18, 14 January 2026 (UTC)
I hope you are enjoying your well-deserved admin retirement! Hopefully whatever you're up to now involves fewer death threats, sockpuppets, and confused middle schoolers. -- asilvering (talk) 05:56, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for your years of work. Andre🚐 06:07, 15 January 2026 (UTC)
Sorry to see you hang it up, but wish you the best in your admin retirement. - NeutralhomerTalk • 19:47, 17 January 2026 (UTC)
  • I was just looking up a former admin to see the circumstances for their departure and was shocked to see your name listed! I don't know how Wikipedia can function without you review unblock online requests. Even if you can't offer full-time support, helping out for a few hours a week would be welcome. I hope you miss us and come back. No black cloud over your return! Take care and don't enjoy retirement too much because I want you to become bored and pick up your mop again. ;-) Liz Read! Congratulations on finally winning your freedom! I told you not to give up hope! What article are you planning to vandalize first? Levivich (talk) 03:06, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
Thanks for all the work you've done over the years, DFO. You've been a huge influence on me as an admin, and countless others. Enjoy the emeritus! Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 03:50, 18 January 2026 (UTC)
I know I already left a message, but your presence will be missed. Enjoy the easier years ahead, with no annoyances. You will be very missed. Dafootballguy (talk) 02:23, 20 January 2026 (UTC)
Thank you so much for all of your years of service here. It's been great working with you, and I hope you stick around for a while at a more relaxed pace. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 17:03, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I was offline for a while and then read someone referring to you as a former admin and I was surprised. I wish you all the best my Okra, even though you're always mentally an orca. Well deserved break. Star Mississippi 01:35, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
As a semi-retiree who hasn't always agreed with you, I thank you for your service and wish you well in your semi-retirement. Narky Blert (talk) 19:38, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
Just came across this. I am sorry to see that you laid down the tools, Deepfriedokra. However, I do respect your decision to do so and thank you for your long-lasting service to the 'pedia. It's been a pleasure. I hope to see you again and that our paths once again cross & that I see you around from time to time. We'll be here should you get bored and want the mop back. (Once a janitor, always a janitor...so something like that ). Take it easy and take care, eh? --TheSandDoctor Talk 08:28, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
These things happen as times grinds on. I'll sure miss bouncing queries off you from time to time as your insight and wisdom has served me well. You've calmed down many a boiling situation here to at least leave the waters tepid... A gift not many have. Hopefully we still bump into each other from time to time. Cheers. Fyunck(click) (talk) 19:00, 14 February 2026 (UTC)
A little late to this, but thanks for all you've done on ENWiki. I don't think I can summarize the net positive you have given to this encyclopedia better than any of the others above :) TheTechie[she/they] | talk? 06:08, 17 February 2026 (UTC)
What's the point of Signpost if this news isn't the lead headline and it takes me over a month to find out about this? You'll be hugely missed DFO. Cabayi (talk) 12:16, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
Hello Deepfriedokra, I just came across your 'no longer an admin' signature from the comment you left at that AARV thread. I wanted to say, it's sad to see another long-time, hard-working admin quit the mop! ;(
Thank you for the wonderful 18 years of adminship here, even though I only started editing loooong after you got your bit! — AP 499D25 (talk) 11:46, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi @Deepfriedokra,
You might want to reconsider your deletion of this page. It appears you have linked to it on many different blocked users' talk pages, which may make it unclear to those editors why you have linked the page there. thetechie@enwiki:~$ she/they | talk 16:57, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

Alas, I've laid down my tools. Perhaps a talk page watcher can restore it. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:14, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
Sorry, I only saw that notice after posting this. Even then I thought you were only on Wikibreak. Sorry for the confusion and hope you are doing well! thetechie@enwiki:~$ she/they | talk 17:16, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Quite well, thank you. I have requested a WP:REFUND. Thanks, -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 17:19, 3 February 2026 (UTC)

  • Special report: What actually happened during the Wikimedia security incident?
A horrifying exploit took place, which could have had catastrophic and far-reaching consequences if used maliciously; instead, it seems to have happened by accident and was used for childish vandalism. How did this happen, and what did the script actually do?
