Hi there! Just a couple of points of note in the editing of the List of stage names article -

• The first line of the article states that "This list of stage names lists names used by those in the entertainment industry, alphabetically by their stage name's surname".

You've done a fine job of alphabetizing the list so far, but it should be by their SURNAME, not their first name as you have done.

• The article clearly states that people who are NOT listed include "Those who changed their name to perform a character or alter ego, including drag performers and professional wrestlers".

Any wrestlers should not be added unless they are known for something else apart from wrestling, such as Hulk Hogan who is also an actor.

On a separate matter, I think it sucks that they have deleted the individual pages for each letter. Others have commented on how the article needs splitting but when something is done about it, the new pages get deleted. Maybe you have to do all of them in a Sandbox and publish them all at once. Stop putting "deceased" in infoboxes. Infoboxes should contain a minimal amount of information. It is not standard for the template. Whether someone is deceased belongs in the text of the article, and it usually is found there already. Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles. While there are definitely school articles where a move / rename is appropriate, the use of the WP:COMMONNAME should take priority. Regardless of how the school is listed on their website, it would seem that there are very few articles where "Junior-Senior" or "Jr./Sr." are part of the common name used in articles about the school. You may want to exercise more discretion in such page moves and seek consensus for the name change, which have in many cases spent 15 or more years with the same names. Hi. I wanted to explain why I reverted a change you made to Dexter Doria. In this edit, you added a birth date, but you didn't cite a reliable source. Wikipedia has strict rules on content in biographies of living persons because this can impact real peoples' lives. Please be aware that many sites on the internet purport to give information about celebrities, but few of them of reliable. Sites like the IMDb use user-generated content, and they should not be cited in biographical articles. Similarly, celebrity gossip websites should not be used because most of them don't have a history of fact checking or publishing corrections. Fan sites and blogs are self-published and have no editorial control. We also can't use primary documents, such as government birth databases or genealogical websites (which are also typically user-generated, as above). This means that the number of available sources is quite slim, and we often have to either go without this information or wait until a source like The Philippine Star or the BBC publishes an interview that includes a birth date. Hi. Thanks for your recent edits to Dorothy Tenham. I'm proposing to revert the change you made of 'actor' to 'actress' and I want to run my reason past you before doing the edit. It's modern practice to use gender neutral terms in describing people's jobs. Gender specific terms like actress, aviatrix, conductress, comedienne and so on are increasingly - and in some cases completely - obsolete. It was a considered decision on my part to use the word actor when writing the piece. We do not know if Tenham preferred actor or actress to define her early career but as she was clearly an advanced and forward-thinking individual I suspect she would have used actor, particularly later in her career. Please let me know your view. If I do not hear from you I shall make the reversion.

Worth observing as well, I think, that if you are making a change in an article it should be consistent throughout the piece. You left at least two further references to 'actor' unaltered.

Hi, I see that you've changed the sorting of several Dutch biographies, such as this change. For Dutch surnames, the sorting should not include the lowercase particle, so "Leonie ter Braak" should be sorted as {{DEFAULTSORT:Braak, Leonie ter}} (see also: Wikipedia:Categorization/Sorting names, section "Other exceptions"). If the series isn't described as a sitcom, remove all categories that have the word "sitcom" in them. If the article doesn't mention camera setup, remove all categories that mention camera setup. This applies to all decades, years, or any other added words in the category.

Hello, Ernsanchez00,

I'm not sure what you are trying to do here. You empty a category, which is an "out of process" act and is discouraged and then you put a CFD notice on the category. But it links to a page (February 11th) where there is no related CFD discussion about this category. So, I go back and forth, search different days with CFD discussions and I find one on February 4th that has a discussion about actors and actresses from different regional areas but the discussion doesn't include this category. You can't retroactively include a category in a CFD discussion that is not only CLOSED but didn't include this category in the first place. You're not a new editor any longer so it's hard from me to follow the thought process here.

So, here's what I'm going to. Even though this category was "emptied out of process", I'm going to remove the CFD tag for a discussion (on the wrong day) that didn't include this category and instead tag it for speedy deletion, CSD C1. Also on categories, I see that you have quite arbitrarily recategorised a very large number of people identified in their articles as British to "English" in their categories. Most recently moving people described as "British actors" to English actor categories, but there are hundreds of them in your edit history and I have only reverted the recent ones. You should be aware that whether or not someone is described as British, or English/Welsh/Scottish/Irish, is established - as set out in the MoS - according to reliable sources also taking account of any personal preference expressed by the subject - and changes between them are specifically deprecated unless this is done on the back of reliable citation. Your shifting individuals from British to English categories, based on no argumentation or citation or consensus, where their articles use the British moniker is unacceptable, disruptive editing - All of these changes need to be undone by you, please (or reported). Threats are not helpful, MapReader. You can get across your point without suggesting that you'll take an editor to ANI. All editors are in a process of improving and getting better. It helps to ask a lot of questions if you are unsure and know your limits. For example, I'm unfamiliar with templates and files so I only handle them if an editor whom I recognize knows them well asks me to take action on their behalf. Hello. As you may have noticed, I have reverted most of your edits regarding bisexual and transgender actors and emptied some of your category pages. The reason I have been doing this is to prevent over-subcategorising the article pages and some of these category pages contain less than five subjects. I apologise for not giving you earlier notice. This is never a sufficient explanation for an edit, as it doesn't help other editors understand your motives or reasons. On the pages The Cleaning Lady (American TV series) and Bliss (2018 TV series), for example, you removed categories and simply wrote "fixed", as if that in any way explained the deletions—it doesn't. Early this year you added some categories to Mari Takahashi, when it was a redirect to Smosh.

I have turned the article into a disambiguation page because there's another human named Mari Takahashi that I was trying to look up (a voice actress involved in Loner Life in Another World), and I was terribly confused when I landed on Smosh. A consequence of the page no longer being a redirect is that some of the information you added to the page via categories become "lost" because Mariko "Mari" Takahashi doesn't have her own page. I just came to post a question about categories, too. You are emptying a lot of categories you created and tagging them for speedy deletion. Maybe think twice about creating them in the first place. Ask yourself, does this category really fit a need and will it contain more than one or two articles or categories? I know that some editors can get absorbed by the page creation process so don't create categories simply for the boost of creation. Create them because they are truly needed.

Also, I noticed that you have 2 years' worth of messages at your User talk page. It's time to either delete the older ones or, even better, archive them. It's not hard to archive talk page, just create User talk:Ernsanchez00/Archive 1 and cut and paste them in there or you can even set up a bot to archive messages for you (see Help:Archiving a talk page/Details#Naming). The scale of overcategorizing this editor has done is just enormous. I stumbled upon this today. There are over a dozen pages I just nominated for merging. I thought this editor's work was confined to the US, Canada, and the UK but as seen I have found them in Europe too and I fear to discover how many more of them there are. It is tedious work to have to nominate all these for merging. I wish this editor would go back and empty all these creations, except those already nominated for merging , and save some editors from having to do lots of hard work. I think its time to take this editor to ANI in order to have them banned from creating any more new categories. Look at this page of their more recent work. It isn't like nobody has asked them to slow down. I have and at least one other editor has. Ernsanchez apologizes, stops creating categories for a short time but then goes right back at it. @Lost in Quebec I was thinking the same thing earlier today. I'm willing to believe that this editor is acting in good faith. However, the misguided WP:overcategorization has created a significant time suck for other editors dealing with it - as abundantly illustrated just by all of the notices on this user talk page. I don't think I'd spend the time starting things at ANI, but would certainly support a permanent ban on creating new categories (and on adding categories to articles, if that is technically possible). I don't think a limited "time out" would be sufficient, given a persistent pattern of behavior after multiple editors have voiced concerns. CAVincent (talk) 21:02, 29 March 2025 (UTC)

This category is part of a group that falls under WP:EGRS, which covers categories based on ethnicity, gender, religion, sexuality, or disability. These categories are typically set up as non-diffusing. That means when a page is added to a subcategory like this one, it's still meant to be included in the parent category as well.

This is important because removing someone from the parent category can unintentionally change who appears to "belong" there. Over time, that can make the main category look less representative than it actually is, which the EGRS guideline is designed to avoid.

If you're not sure whether a subcategory is non-diffusing, you can often check the category page itself; many include a note or template. You can also read more at WP:EGRS and in the section on the final-rung rule. If you need further help, ask at the Teahouse. Not all academics teach. The term academic refers to someone employed at an institution of higher learning as either an educator, scholar, or researcher. Some academics are employed in research but not teaching, others are employed in teaching but not research. Many do both. Many publish, but not all. FYI physicians is parented by health professionals and scientists. I've reverted some of your removals, but I would appreciate the help undoing them. For example, Category:Physicians by nationality and populated place should be parented by both health professionals and scientists. Happy to chat about it, but please keep the status quo until then.
