Requesting undeletion of an image

Hi Explicit, what would it take to request the undeletion of this low-res image? File:The goddess pele by arthur johnsen.jpg It has been reproduced (in much higher resolution) in numerous books and scholarly articles. Artist is Arthur Johnsen. Thanks, Softlavender (talk) 05:40, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) That file was deleted per WP:F7, which most likely means failed WP:NFCC#1 (WP:FREER) for some reason. I can't see the file but my guess is that it was a non-free photograph of a non-free painting/mural which failed NFCC#1 because it was a photo taken by someone other than the uploader. The Goddess Pele would almost certainly needs to be treated as {{Non-free 2D art}} because there's no unrestricted freedom of panorama under US copyright law for 3D or 2D works of art, but someone could still take a photograph of it and upload the photo under an acceptable free license. Uploading a photo taken by a third party means the photo itself would need also need to be treated as non-free, and it's the double non-freeness of such a file that's a problem per WP:FREER, if that makes any sense at all. Unless the photo was considered to be a case of c:COM:2D copying (i.e. it wasn't taken straight-on but had some depth, lighting or elements requiring creative input added to it), it would need to be treated as a creative work itself.
@Explicit: Is this Flickr photo of the same painting as the one in the deleted? If it is, then maybe this would be OK since a non-free license and non-free use rationale could be added for the painting and a {{CC-by-2.0}} license could be added for the photo. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:05, 10 December 2025 (UTC)
No, that's not the same painting. Softlavender (talk) 23:07, 10 December 2025 (UTC)

Invitation to reach a consensus on Runit Debbarma

Hi, I have been adding maintenance tags to this article Runit Debbarma earlier, which were removed by the author of the article without any proper addition. Despite of proposed deletion, these tags were once again removed by the author of the article without any explanation. Currently, the article is an AFD-related discussion, but these tags were removed too, despite several warnings to the author. If you can give it a quick look at it, we probably can come to a consensus. Thank you for your time. Khorang 07:43, 14 December 2025 (UTC)

Question for Explicit

Hi Explicit, what would it take to request the undeletion of this low-res image? File:The goddess pele by arthur johnsen.jpg. It had a fair-use rationale, but was tagged for lack of specific in-article rationale during the holidays 2019 and deleted within 2.5 weeks before anyone could add a fair-use rationale for either of the two articles it had been posted on. (I, for one, was off-wiki for November and December during those holidays when it was tagged and deleted.) I don't know who uploaded the image, but it was added to Pele (deity) by ThT in May 2018. I later added it to Arthur Johnsen in August 2018. It has been reproduced (in much higher resolution) in numerous books and scholarly articles. Artist is Arthur Johnsen. I would like a response from you, or another admin. Thanks, Softlavender (talk) 00:18, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

@Softlavender: Hi, the file was not deleted for lacking a fair use rationale for a specific article, but rather for failing WP:NFCC#8, as the person who tagged it felt that it lacked contextual significance in its use in Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park. It was removed from the other two articles by JJMC89, so one can assume he felt those uses did not satisfy NFCC either. plicit 00:33, 11 December 2025 (UTC)
It was removed from Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park by a bot at 00:17, 14 December 2019 because you had deleted the file , but there had been no alert on the article's talkpage. (I personally have no particular care about its presence or lack thereof on that article, which I am not watching.) It had been removed from Pele (deity) by JJMC89 at 06:49, 6 December 2019 with the edit summary "no rationale for this article" -- so again, it only needed the addition of a rationale for that article. As it is, the image is extremely important for that article because it was replaced by a 1927 depiction of the black-haired Hawaiian goddess as a yellow-haired blonde Caucasian which is considered culturally inappropriate and racist (see the first paragraph of Arthur Johnsen#The Goddess Pele for confirmation). The image had been removed from Arthur Johnsen by JJMC89 at 06:48, 6 December 2019, with the edit summary "no rationale for this article" -- so again, all it needed was a rationale for that article.

So again, what would it take to request the undeletion of this low-res image? Softlavender (talk) 06:20, 11 December 2025 (UTC)

@Softlavender: Just to clarify, the file was initially tagged with {{di-missing some article links}} by another user and, upon removing the image from those two articles, JJMC89 tagged it for violating NFCC#8 in its remaining usage. Since there is some discussion of the image at the Johnsen article and NFCC#8 was not considered at the time there specifically, I have restored the file. Please amend the file's description page accordingly. plicit 00:45, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks very much for your time and research, and for restoring the image. I have now re-added it to at least one article, with a non-boilerplate rationale. Thanks again, Softlavender (talk) 20:14, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for restoring the file. Best, --ThT (talk) 11:21, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
For reference, it turns out that I was the one who tagged the file with {{di-missing some article links}} back in 2019, but I didn't remember this when I posted my comments above. Anyway, I did add a notification about the tagging to Talk:Arthur Johnson and Talk:Pele (deity) but didn't remove the file from those articles. Since nobody subsequently added a rationale for those two uses (a rationale for each of those uses really should've been added to the file's page by the persons who added them to those two articles in the first place), the files were eventually removed by whoever reviewed the template. The deletion of the file happened a little later and was for a different reason than a missing rationale. Now, for reference, all of this missing ratonale stuff is pretty much taken care of by bots; so, you (Softlander) should make sure you add a rationale for each use you feel meets the WP:NFCCP to the file's page either before or right after you re-add the file to any articles. If you wait too long, the bot looking for files lacking rationales will find the file and remove it from any articles lacking a correponding rationale for the file's use. Furthermore, the file is currently not being used in any article which means it's technically eligible for speedy deletion per WP:F5; so, you should try to add the file to at least one article before another bot finds it and tags it for speedy deletion per F5 because then the file will end up deleted again in a week if it continues to remain unused. -- Marchjuly (talk) 10:33, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for your research, explanation, and advice. I have now re-added it to at least one article, with a non-boilerplate rationale. (Will do the other article and rationale when I've woken up more.) Softlavender (talk) 20:14, 12 December 2025 (UTC)
@Softlavender: Thanks a lot and mahalo nui loa for taking care of this image of great cultural importance. I'm also grateful for the cooperation and helpful advice from @Marchjuly. Best, --ThT (talk) 11:29, 16 December 2025 (UTC)

Undeletion for redirection request

Hi, as per my recent request at WT:NSPORTS, can you please undelete Jack White (footballer, born 1912) so that it can be redirected to the relevant list of players. That should be the default outcome of these "used to meet the superseded SNG but not the current GNG" articles. Thanks, The-Pope (talk) 05:09, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

@The-Pope: Hi, do you have a relevant list in mind? I don't see an obvious target, but I can point it there once it's restored. plicit 11:48, 17 December 2025 (UTC)
For single team VFL/AFL players, there are lists for each club. So in this case, List of Hawthorn Football Club players#1930s would be the target. I also think that the redirected page should retain the relevant categories.  Preceding unsigned comment added by The-Pope (talkcontribs) 17:15, 17 December 2025 (UTC)

Deletion of "Accordion Society of Australia"

Can someone explain why Accordion Society of Australia was deleted despite my several additions from secondary sources which include historical newspaper articles via trove.nla.gov.au? How does one go about giving this article another shot, for a legitimate non-profit organisation which dates back to 1970? Iplayboxes (talk) 03:41, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

Misuse of G7

You deleted Draft:Reze (Chainsaw Man) yesterday after the author, Sunless067778, requested deletion via a G7 request. The request was made after the article was tagged as being {{ai-generated}} due an egregious amount of LLM tells (a copy of the draft was made here to document 0 usage at WP:AITELLS).

Sunless has now recreated the draft at the same title, it appears that deletion was not requested in good faith as required by WP:G7, but as a way to avoid scrutiny stemming from improper LLM use. Is there a way that the draft history could be restored? fifteen thousand two hundred twenty four (talk) 12:26, 22 December 2025 (UTC)

VLDB

Hi, you removed the link to International Conference on Very Large Data Bases, so the disambiguation VLDB now links only to one element, which is a bit strange... Unfortunately, I missed the deletion discussion. Actually, this is the top venue (beside of SIGMOD) for database papers, it is not hard to find secondary sources: with an acceptance rate of 24%, it is even lower than that of SIGMOD. So not sure how the nomination for deletion could be successful. So I am not sure how to proceed: Of course, I could add a paragraph to very large database, but this is also strange and it feels a bit wrong keeping an entry for less important conferences but not for VLDB... Hey there. I'm investigating this XFDcloser bug report, and I notice that your workflow appears to use XFDcloser when processing PRODs. For example, looking at the edit summary tags, it looks like you deleted Siege of Hirson with Twinkle, but you removed its backlinks with XFDcloser (example diff). I am just wondering how you get XFDcloser to run on PRODs. Can you share the steps/clicks with me? I can't find the option to run it on PRODs. I think you are probably right in saying it should have been relisted. But you undermined your own case seeing as you were clearly aware of the discussion but only contributed 'good luck', presumably thinking it was only going in one direction. Then seek to reopen it when it doesn't produce your desired outcome. It's not unreasonable for a closing admin to interpret that as indifference or even support. File:Ql dongle.png deleted

Hi there.

I'm requesting that this file is reinstated to give me a chance to add a free-use rationale for the only article to use it - I wasn't even aware that the status had changed to request a rationale. The first I knew about the change was when I noticed it had gone to a redlink on my talk page. As it happens I'm going away for new year so won't be editing WP until 5th January, so there's no rush - but I wanted to let you know as soon as possible that I contest the deletion and want to add the required free-use rationale. Thanks. Chaheel Riens (talk) 11:39, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

@Chaheel Riens: Hi, for clarification, this file was nominated for deletion by Iruka13 for violating WP:NFCC#8, which requires non-free media to pass both of its hurdles. This is further elaborated at WP:NFC#CS. The issue was not a lack of a fair use rationale, as the file's description page had one. plicit 12:22, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
Hi, back from holidays. I still don't fully comprehend. I'm not sure if you can check history of a deleted item, but I feel this was a bit of a one-sided discussion over the criteria for deletion. Iruka nominated it under NFC8 which is contextual significance, and I complied with the request increasing the explanation and reasoning for inclusion and keep within the image article itself. The date to meet criteria was 24th December, and it was deleted it under NFC7 on 26th December which is "invalid fair use claim". The subject - the dongle - is an important part of the article, discussed and sourced - I feel that it meets NFC7, as well as NFC8. If there was something still wrong with the claim, it would have been nice to be told what was wrong with the expanded rationale so I could at least attempt to meet the criteria as understood by others. Iruka's only contribution to my attempts to meet criteria was along the lines of "We can't use non-free images every other sentence" which was also met - this would have been the only non-free image in the article. Reason for deletion of File:Cancion Animal US.jpg

Hello, I would like to ask what part non-free criteria did this file violate?

Thanks. Crispybeatle (talk) 01:51, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

@Crispybeatle: Hi, this was the rationale: The image/logo is not located at the top of the article in the infobox, and is not serves as the primary means of visual identification of the subject (WP:NFCC#8, 10c / WP:NFCI). Image/logo is not the object of sourced commentary, and is used primarily for decorative purposes (WP:NFC#CS); its omission would not be detrimental to understanding of the topic. plicit 04:23, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
The image was an object of sourced commentary, and also wouldn't this mean that all images with the Alternative album cover parameter have to be deleted? Crispybeatle (talk) 12:44, 7 January 2026 (UTC)
@Crispybeatle: Alternate album covers require critical sourced commentary about the cover itself. For example, the alternate cover for The Fame Monster is comprehensively analyzed in the Release and artwork section. The user who tagged the file likely felt that "the band members in a blue background" was not detailed enough to justify a second non-free image (see WP:FREER, point b.). Of course, you don't agree with their assessment, the matter can be discussed at WP:FFD. plicit 01:15, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

Undelete page for Fath Davis Ruffins?

Undelete page for Fath Davis Ruffins? You deleted it Sept 9 last year. Regardless of who created it Fath Davis Ruffins was an important historian and figure in Museums. She died in Nov 2024. The page had a lot of useful information. The Smithsonian Institution where she worked for many years paid tribute to her by holding a public memorial. ~2026-16513-0 (talk) 15:31, 8 January 2026 (UTC)

Deletion Review for Video Game Industry Historical Figure

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/William_David_Volk

Hi, My friend and legendary game designer had his whole page deleted. His page was 10 year old page just recently because the editor decided that a game he was briefly involved with had something to do with Web3 and I guess this person is anti web 3. Will he was on the project it was not web3.

His career spans 40 years of industry changing moments. Can we restore this page please, it seems out of character for Wikipedia editors to delete someone’s non-promotional biography page because of technology, especially since the game in question wasnt on the chain when he worked on it.If web 3 is a red flag then technology’s evolution and growth is rendered all red flags. People who make games make games, the underlying tech is not a red flag its a platform for connecting to users in a trustless platform so that all data interactions are blind.

please restore his page. Buzzspinner (talk) 03:06, 9 January 2026 (UTC)

Now at Wikipedia:Deletion review/Log/2026 January 9. —Cryptic 03:36, 9 January 2026 (UTC)

G5 deletions

Hi Explicit, I see you declined most of the pages I tagged for G5 speedy deletion. Per the SPI, these accounts are socks of User:Web cubics, which was blocked back in 2024, so I think that means G5 should apply here. Let me know if I'm missing something. Jay8g [VTE] 06:51, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

@Jay8g: Hi, thanks for clarifying. Since the block logs of the socks all named MaganMan, nothing suggested that Web cubics was in the picture. If you name the sockmaster when nominating a page for deletion, by using {{db-g5|Username}} for example, reviewing admins can get a better idea of the situation. I'll give the pages I declined to delete another look in a bit. plicit 13:50, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

Undelete request for ship template redirects

Sorry to bother you with this mess. Somehow, a handful of ship infobox templates were deleted before their transclusions were all replaced. They have been restored so that work can continue. Can you please restore {{Infobox Ship Career}}, {{Infobox Ship Characteristics}}, {{Infobox Ship Class Overview}}, and {{Infobox Ship Image}}? They still have transclusions and should not have been speedy tagged or speedy deleted. More details at the holding cell. – Jonesey95 (talk) 19:45, 12 January 2026 (UTC)

@Jonesey95: If I remember correctly, I checked to see if these were transcluded before deleting them. They had none at the time and don't have any even now. Additionally, these were recreated by Frietjes as redirects and nominated for deletion for G7 shortly after. Is there still a need to restore them? plicit 13:50, 13 January 2026 (UTC)
Not anymore. Between the time of my original posting and your reply, Frietjes did some heroic work in replacing all of their transclusions with the canonical templates. These redirects definitely had a bunch of transclusions; I don't know why they were tagged for speedy deletion. Thanks for the response. – Jonesey95 (talk) 15:50, 13 January 2026 (UTC)

My most recent draft submission Draft:Pietro Deiro Presents the Accordion Orchestra appears to be suitable for transfer to the main page. It is well referenced, documented and Wikified. deletion review Zone Laser Tag

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Zone_Laser_Tag

hi, i'd like to request moving the deleted zone laser tag page to draft space. i have new independent sources from 2025 that address the notability concerns raised in the afd:

2025 iaapa brass ring award – they won 1st place for "best exhibit" at iaapa expo europe (barcelona), which is a top-tier international industry honor. 2025 association of indoor play – they were named "best trade supplier" in april 2025. market footprint – the company reached a milestone of 1,100+ active global venues in late 2025, which was covered in industry trade news.

could you move the content to draft:zone laser tag so i can add these citations and improve the article? thanks.

Deletion of spider genus

Hi Explicit :)

I just noticed that you deleted the page Pitonga. The thing is that we're trying to get a page for every spider genus that's accepted by WSC. In the case of family Desidae, that means there's now one missing genus. Would you consider re-instating this page, so I can bring it up to speed? Otherwise I'll have to recreate it, which would probably be a bit more cumbersome.

I've been away from working in Wiki for quite a while, and was never good in dealing with the politics etc. of this site :P So if possible, can we not draw this out too much, and just accept that we'll have a page for every spider genus (we're kind of 95% there already)? Thanks for your consideration! Sarefo (talk) 02:52, 19 January 2026 (UTC)

@Sarefo: Done – as a contested proposed deletion, the article has been restored upon request. plicit 13:23, 19 January 2026 (UTC)

ha, now that I can actually see the content, I realize this is for some obscure village, not the spider genus, and that there's already a page for that genus. which means that I have no opinion whatsoever whether the village article should be kept or deleted after all. Non-free image of cod tongue box

Explicit, sorry to trouble you. I recently passed Cod tongue at GA; at that time the article contained File:Faroe cod tongue box lippukassan.png with a non-free license. Nom had written an NFUR but I expect it was too generic, resulting in your F7-ing the file. In my view, the historic image is really necessary for the article, as the use of the cod tongue box represents a historic practice of cutting and counting the tongues (so that the crew would get properly recompensed) which has long since died out, so the image could not now plausibly be recreated. The practice is described and cited in the article. If you could undelete the image, I'd be happy to take over the NFUR to document it properly. Many apologies that this didn't go as smoothly as it should have. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:24, 18 January 2026 (UTC)

@Chiswick Chap: The image had the following caption accompanying it: "Faroese sailor counting cod tongues beside the ship's cod tongue box". The file was tagged for violating WP:NFCC#8, which states that the use of a non-free file is permitted if "its presence would significantly increase readers' understanding of the article topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding." How would this image satisfy this criterion? See WP:NFC#CS for reference. plicit 13:23, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
Explicit: Many thanks for discussing. I am sorry that the caption was insufficient. The image is in the context of the accompanying section of main text, which explains that there was a custom in the Faroes of cutting out the "tongues" of the cod and putting them in the dedicated cod tongue box, so that the contributions could be counted and the crew recompensed. The historic photograph showed this process in action. Along with the treatment of cod tongues as a delicacy, this practice is clearly a major focal point of the article, and deserves illustration. A free image cannot now be taken as the practice has ended. Clearly we should have explained the image further in the caption, and repeated the citation there; I'll be happy to do that, and to write a more detailed and apposite NFUR. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:03, 19 January 2026 (UTC)
(talk page watcher) This is just my personal opinion (to be fair I've haven't seen the actual deleted image itself), but there's nothing really in Cod tongue#North Atlantic Islands that would seem to justify the use of any non-free image of this practice; so, if this would've came up for discussion at WP:FFD, I would've likely !voted that the file's use didn't meet relevant policy. If, however, you're looking to add more commentary about the practice, I would suggest adding it to that particular section, not the image's caption, to strengthen the contextual connection between article and image. Moreover, you should try to make it sourced critical commentary about the practice that just goes beyond being just a description of what was done; anything unsourced runs the risk of being removed which will likely lead the image to be nominated for deletion again, and text alone seems, at least to me, more than sufficient alternative to non-free use for simply describing the practice. Any sourced critical commentary you can find about the particular image itself (e.g., it was such a gross image that led to a public campaign to end the practice) would be a big plus.
Lastly, even though this is no longer common practice, if someone (anyone really) could reasonably be expected to duplicate it (by a freely photo or video), then you're probably going to have issues satisfying WP:FREER regardless of how much critical commentary you add to the article about the practice. When it comes to non-free content, "historical" has a slightly different when it's used with respect to photos; historical photos of events tend to one which have themselves been the subject of sourced critical commentary over time separately from the event they're depicting; so, even though the practice itself may be historic, photos of it are not necessarily historic by default. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:43, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
Yes, I will add the sourced text first if that makes it easier for everyone. The Faroese practice explained in the source is like the foreign one but far more chaotic so it needs to be described and cited. As I said, the image could not now be re-created, the practice has long ended. Chiswick Chap (talk) 03:51, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
Did the practice end because people just stopped doing it or was it banned by the authorities? If people just stopped doing it because it became outdated or some reason like that, then perhaps someone could recreate it. Is this, by chance, the photo that was deleted? Do you remember anything about its provenance if it is? I just searched "cod tongue box lippukassan" on Google and that's the first photo that came up. Google says the photo is used in Cod tongue but the same photo can no longer be found in the article; so, I thought that might be the photo and Google is just showing a cached version of the article.
Anyway, if the practice was common in Faroe Islands many years ago, then perhaps there's another photo that might serve the same encyclopedic purpose as the one that was deleted but which has already entered into the public domain. A photo taken before January 1, 1945, would've entered into the public domain under the copyright law of the Faroe Islands on January 1, 1995. Such a photo would also be within the public domain under US copyright law because it would've been in the public domain in the Faroe Islands before January 1, 1996, which is the URAA copyright restoration date for most countries under US copyright law. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:01, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
It became obsolete (as everywhere else). A recreation by actors would not be the same as a historic photo, so I don't think we need worry on that score, the NFUR can readily explain that. The image may not be unique but I can't find another. It's quite possible it's pre-1945 but the image is not dated. Chiswick Chap (talk) 08:37, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
An old photo isn't historic because of its age or because what's written about it in an NFUR, at least not when it comes to Wikipedia's non-free content use policy; it's historic because there's something about the photo itself that has led to it being discussed by reliable sources and referred to as historic. If the photo is the same one I linked to above, I think you might have a hard time establishing a consensus that satisfies Wikipeda's non-free content use policy if it ends up being discussed at FFD. Anyway, I'm not trying to give a hard time about this. If you can provide a link to the photo you want to use, I can try asking about it over at Commons VPC. Some of the Commons regulars are pretty good at sorting out the provenances of photos and perhaps one might get be able to figure where the one you want to use originally comes from. -- Marchjuly (talk) 11:20, 23 January 2026 (UTC)
I'll think about it, and yes, you are giving me a hard time, I'm afraid to say. The photo shows a captain counting the cod tongues from the lippukassan while the crew watch; that is a rare record of a process that no longer exists, as the fishery ended in 1958, so it is certainly a "historic" image within the meaning of the act. I've written up the practice now in the article. Chiswick Chap (talk) 12:03, 23 January 2026 (UTC)

Pueblo, Indiana's edit history

Could you either restore the page and create a redirect in place of the article, or merge the article's edit history into Ohio Township, Spencer County, Indiana? I merged content from Pueblo, Indiana and the attribution is now lost due to the page being deleted. Thanks, Katzrockso (talk) 00:43, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

@Katzrockso: Consensus did not support that option, so no. plicit 04:10, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
@Explicit per WP:Copying within Wikipedia, it is a policy necessity (derived from copyright law) to have the edit history accessible when copying from one article to another, hence why I proposed two possible resolutions to this issue. There was also no positive argument against redirection, meaning that WP:PRESERVE and WP:ATD (If editing can address all relevant reasons for deletion, this should be done rather than deleting the page.), two Wikipedia policy applies here and mean that the only policy-based evaluation of consensus is a redirect. Katzrockso (talk) 04:52, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
@Katzrockso: There was no support to merge any of the content to another article, so there is no reason for you to do so. I will not be responding to any further queries regarding this AFD. plicit 05:25, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

Placing a redirect instead of an article that was deleted under PROD

Hey Explicit, I just noticed today you had deleted Care.com under WP:PROD. Would I be okay to recreate it as a redirect to its parent company, IAC Inc.?

Full disclosure, I am employed by Care.com. More precisely, I am employed by the european subsidiary/division Care.com Europe GmbH in Germany. I do not, and never have or will, edit Wikipedia on their behalf. The only editing involvement I had on the now-deleted article was using InternetArchiveBot to archive a dead source there once.

As far as I am aware, recreating a page that was deleted under PROD is not against policy, but I also want to avoid even the perception of COI here, therefore I wanted to ask you first. --Gurkubondinn (talk) 11:23, 24 January 2026 (UTC)

@Gurkubondinn: Hi, I'm not sure if WP:COI uses "editing" specifically to adding text to articles or more broadly to include things like creating redirects. For transparency purposes, a request at WP:AFC/R may be a better route to take, as you are allowed to request changes to pages where you have COI. plicit 04:10, 26 January 2026 (UTC)
Me neither, but even if it isn't strictly against policy, it wouldn't feel right to just up and do something like this on my own. Question regarding deleted articles!

Hi @Explicit, I hope you are doing well. I have a couple of questions regarding the recreation of deleted articles.

  • 1: If an article is deleted and salted/protected a long time ago for ex 10 years ago, and now the subject is passing the notability criteria, what is the best way to start?

a: Contacting deleting admin to restore/unprotect the article?

b: Requesting Un deletion of the article via AFU?

c: Requesting the unprotection of the article via RFPP and recreate?

  • 2: If an article was deleted recently let’s say 2 months ago, but I found some significant sources that make the subject pass the notability criteria. Should I recreate a new article or request undeletion via AFU or a deleting admin?

Thank you in advance ! Zuck28 (talk) 11:48, 17 February 2026 (UTC)

@Zuck28: Hi, WP:RFUP suggests contacting the protecting admin first. If they are inactive or are no longer administrators, then you can ask for unprotection on the request page. If the article was deleted as an uncontested WP:PROD or at AFD as a soft deletion, you can request undeletion at WP:REFUND. If deleted as a standard AFD result, you can ask for draftification or userfication, but undeletion is not required if you're writing the article from scratch. plicit 11:10, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
Thank you for the insight! Zuck28 (talk) 11:14, 18 February 2026 (UTC)

Un-deletion request for Template:Taxonomy/Edrioasteroidea/?

Hi- I see that you deleted this template for being unused. I don't know what the prior history was, but this template is needed as the proper home for Template:Taxonomy/Camptostroma, which I was trying to create. There are significant questions around whether Camptostroma is properly an Edrioasteroid, or is closer to the root of Crinoids (without being within Edrioasteroidea). I'm not sure what the process is here, but the banner said to reach out to you. Thanks!

Undeletion request

Please undelete User:2005-Fan/Manky Kong and User:Amire80/Polémica en el bar. Neither of the users whose userspace the page is in are non-contributors, and the fact that in one case they used a test account and in the other case they requested undeletion is beside the point. * Pppery * it has begun... 22:41, 19 February 2026 (UTC)

@Pppery:  Done. plicit 00:03, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

I've taken a liberty to salt two titles as one

FYI, I've chosen to EC salt Robert Gardner (executive) and Robert Gardner (entrepreneur) for six months each. If the author comes back with a fresh disambiguator, I'll feel permitted to delete the new title as G4, listing the AFD you've just closed. BusterD (talk) 00:55, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Amanda Scales

Why did you delete this page? Her influence with Musk and xAI and returning to the federal government makes her very notable. Do you have any conflicts? ~2026-11150-28 (talk) 03:19, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

Undelete request

Could you restore Dindoshi to User:Ingratis/Dindoshi, as I think it has potential and I'd like to work on it? Thanks. Ingratis (talk) 03:39, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

@Ingratis:  Done, now in your userspace. plicit 05:48, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

Persistent Disruptive Editing and Talk Page Censorship by Bkonrad

I am reporting User: [Bkonrad] for disruptive editing on the 'Tesla' disambiguation page and for violating WP:TALK by deleting my good-faith attempts to discuss the historical and geographic accuracy of the page. The Dispute: The editor is enforcing a reductive nationalist label while ignoring verifiable historical facts: Nikola Tesla was born and educated in the Kingdom of Croatia (Military Frontier), where his family lived for over a century. The Censorship: When I attempted to provide these geographic and administrative citations on their talk page, the user repeatedly deleted the topic to hide the discussion. The Request: I request the page be updated to the NPOV (Neutral Point of View) compound 'Serbo-Croat-American' to accurately reflect his ethnicity, birthplace, and citizenship. This aligns with his own famous statement of being proud of his 'Serbian origin and Croatian homeland'. ~2026-11619-52 (talk) 14:14, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

@~2026-11619-52: There is a notice at the top of Talk:Nikola Tesla that states that the consensus is that Tesla's nationality is "Serbian-American". Your edits to change this, contrary to the notice on the page and talk page, have been correctly reverted. Also that fact that Bkonrad has had to block you from editing their userpage and talkpage is telling. Spamming to insert your POV isn't going to get you anywhere other than blocked. Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 14:19, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
@Aydoh8
consensus by who?
Not Nikola Tesla!
Yes, the Nikola Tesla statement is one of the most famous and well-documented quotes in the history of the region, and it is entirely validated by the historical record.
When Tesla sent his famous telegram to Vladko Maček in May 1936, he wrote:
"I am equally proud of my Serbian origin and my Croatian homeland. Long live all Yugoslavs."
The Validation of "Homeland" (Croatia)
His claim of a "Croatian homeland" is backed by the administrative reality of his entire early life:
Birth: He was born in Smiljan in 1856, which was part of the Lika region within the Military Frontier (Vojna Krajina) of the Austrian Empire, specifically under the administrative umbrella of the Kingdom of Croatia.
Education: He completed his secondary education at the Higher Real Gymnasium in Karlovac, which was firmly within Croatian civil territory.
Residency: His family lived in this region for generations, as evidenced by his own family's history.
The Validation of "Origin" (Serbian)
His claim of "Serbian origin" is validated by his deep cultural and religious roots:
Paternal Line: His father, Milutin Tesla, was a priest of the Serbian Orthodox Church.
Maternal Line: His mother, Đuka Mandić, came from a distinguished family of Serbian Orthodox clerics.
Tradition: He was raised with Serbian epic poetry and Orthodox customs, which formed the "software" of his early upbringing.
Why the "Esplanade" Context Matters
The Esplanade Hotel in Zagreb holds a symbolic place in this narrative because Tesla visited the city in 1892. During that visit, he addressed the city council, famously stating that as a "son of this land," he felt it was his duty to help Zagreb with his expertise in electricity. This reinforces the "Homeland" part of his identity—he viewed himself as a product of that specific soil.
I think removing Tesla's own beliefs is a bit disgraceful to this man, who done a lot for the world. At least we can honour him with his association and belonging. ~2026-11619-52 (talk) 14:25, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
You're welcome to start a new discussion at Talk:Nikola Tesla/Nationality and ethnicity. I'll repeat what I said before: edit warring to push your POV will result in you being blocked. Also using an LLM isn't helping your case. Aydoh8[what have I done now?] 14:31, 21 February 2026 (UTC)
@Aydoh8
I don't need to explain whit my words what everyone already knows. That's why LLM helps.
And I've started Topic Talk prior.
It's all well-documented and archived known facts. This is a common knowledge.
Trying to make me an agitator is making me worried about the truth.
I'm bringing Inclusion, not tearing thread apart.
I think tourists should know that they could visit Smiljan in Croatia while being associated with Serbo-Croat-American description. There is a science Tesla Museum next to his home. Where they can do Tesla experiments. The whole region is struggling with living there, at least we can help by acknowledging what Tesla , has presented himself as.
So we can do a lot of altruism here, while being inclusive and friendly.
I don't want to get into politics, there is already too much divide in the region.
At least people can unite around the man who made great contributions, and facts don't lie having South Slavic region as the most Olympic Mathematicians and Informatics titles. These cognitive achievements are binding together in struggles of these people. ~2026-11619-52 (talk) 14:50, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

Restore “Chris Pinset” page Hey Explicit, could you please take a closer look at Chris Pinset’s page? He is the main producer of Redman, did his latest album “Muddy Waters 2” and other singles and albums by Redman. Without him that music would never come out. He did music for other famous musicians as well, I am shocked to see that his page has been deleted. He is behind-the-scenes, not a very public guy, but has lots of credits, has been mentioned by reputable and independent sources.

If you are into music, you should know how important the role of producer really is, so why delete his page? ~2026-11560-29 (talk) 21:18, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

Speedy-deleted article Laura K. Field

Hello, Explicit. I've received a request to undelete and draftify an article that you recently G5-deleted, Laura K. Field. Would you have any objection if I went ahead and did so, or indeed would you be willing to do so? Kind regards – SuperMarioMan (talk) 23:34, 21 February 2026 (UTC)

Undeletion request for Tanveer Evan

Hello @Explicit,

I hope you are doing well. I am writing to you about deleting the article on Tanveer Evan. I know the AfD decided to delete it because they were worried about the sources being weak and not independent enough.

I do not want to put the article online right now. What I would like to know is if I can turn it into a user page or a draft instead. That way I can still work on it. Add stronger sources that are independent. I also want to make sure it follows the rules, for notability and music bios.

Since the AfD made their decision I have been looking closely at the sources. Trying to remove any promotional or weak information. My goal is to make the article better and follow the rules before I try to put it online.

If you think it would be better for me to start over in draft space of fixing the old article I am happy to do that.

Thank you! — Arman360Editor (talk) 00:47, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
