Hello Florentyna,

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

I'm just not quite clear what's happening here and why. The user tried requesting G7 deletion at the original location, which I declined because they're not the only or even main author (although do seem to feel some ownership). The next thing I know they've done the copypaste, which is obviously not okay, as it loses the edit history. And they've also now commandeered Elias Hossain which previously redirected to Elias Hossain (disambiguation), although it's not clear on what basis that person would be the primary topic for this title. -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 16:42, 13 February 2025 (UTC)

Hi, please stop mass-removing stub templates from articles that ale clearly a stub, and adding Start to WikiProject banner shells. For example Dmytro Zavadskyi has calculated readable prose size 253 B (33 words) and no WP:SIGCOV, Lithuania national badminton team has 634 B (91 words) and no SIGCOV, which is not close to the approximate limit of 250–300 words (1500 characters). Read WP:STUB (especially WP:STUBLENGTH) and WP:ASSESS. You were already warned about this in February 2023 by @Sportsfan 1234. Please, revert your edits where violation occurred in last months. Umm... no. Per WP:STUBLENGTH, only WP:readable prose counts, so infobox and tables do not count. Per WP:ASSESS, "Start" should provide references to reliable sources (sorry that I incorrectly wrote SIGCOV), to show reasons of why the topic is significant. January–February 2026 Backlog Drive | New pages patrol
New Pages Patrol is hosting a one-time, two-month experimental backlog drive aimed at reducing the backlog. This will be a combo drive: both articles and redirects will earn points. The drive will run from 1 January to 28 February 2026. The drive is divided into two phases. Participants may take part in either phase or across both phases, depending on availability. Barnstars will be awarded based on the number of articles and redirects patrolled during the drive. Two-month drive-exclusive barnstars will be awarded to eligible participants. Each article review earns 1 point, while each redirect review earns 0.2 points. Streak awards will be granted based on consistently meeting weekly point thresholds.
