2025–2026 Iranian protests
In the Persian-language article, your claim is seriously challenged, and they rely on a completely different set of sources. Their argument seems more credible, especially since they reference well-known outlets like the BBC and Radio Farda and are speaking from within Iranian society itself. In Iran’s domestic context — where I myself am an Iranian activist based in Bandar Lengeh in southern Iran — the roles of the Prevention Police, the Criminal Investigation Police, and the NOPO Special Unit in such matters are very clear and well established.
Also, the ground force unit that carried out the operation in Kermanshah was the Saberin Special Forces Brigade. Additionally, the Nabi Akram Corps of Kermanshah is part of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), not part of the Basij, which itself operates under the IRGC.
Furthermore, Ali Moayedi, head of the Prevention Police, and Mohammad Ghanbari, head of the Criminal Investigation Police, are both senior military commanders in Iran.
Please revise your article accordingly and align it with the Persian-language article. میثم سجادی (talk) 02:50, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

- Hello! I'm sorry that there has been some miscommunication between the English and Persian languages, and I understand that this is a highly contentious topic. However, I have not contributed to either article, and I do not speak Persian so unfortunately I am not able to help with this situation. GearsDatapack (talk) 07:06, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, I'm not sure what you're trying to tell/ask me here. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 18:29, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- I’m asking you to sort out and edit the article on Iran’s nationwide protests in 2025–2026 so it lines up properly with Persian Wikipedia.
The sources used are all legit and official. Also, the English article says the Nabi Akram Provincial Corps in Kermanshah is part of the Basij, which is straight-up wrong. میثم سجادی (talk) 19:01, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- @میثم سجادی
- Well I'm sorry but I don't feel I'm able to fulfil this request. I don't speak Persian so I am unable to verify or extract information from the sources provided. You would be better off editing the article yourself, or if you are unable to, making an edit request. I am also a little confused as to why you asked me specifically to do this, as I have never touched that article, or any Iran-related article. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 19:56, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- مطمئن باش و به من اعتماد کن، من منابع را بررسی کردهام. میثم سجادی (talk) 20:32, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- Mate, trust me, okay? I have checked all the sources and the admins of Persian Wikipedia also confirm them, the sources are accurate and completely reliable, I have put a lot of effort to translate them for you and even made a table to make reading it easy for you, I cannot edit the article about the nationwide protests 2025–2026, so please add this information so the text is corrected and the Persian Wikipedia text becomes like the English Wikipedia text, which each of them has written completely different sentences.
Here’s the kicker: the English Wikipedia’s got it wrong saying the Nabi Akram Kermanshah Corps is part of the Basij, nah, that’s completely off. میثم سجادی (talk) 01:04, 30 January 2026 (UTC)

Primary sources
You have claimed "Public records should not be used for personal details: WP:BLPPRIMARY"
But this is very superficial and absolutist. You should follow the link in that outline to Wikipedia:No original research#Primary, which says
- Primary sources that have been reputably published may be used in Wikipedia, but only with care, because it is easy to misuse them.[d]
- Any interpretation of primary source material requires a reliable secondary source for that interpretation. While a primary source is generally the best source for its own contents, even over a summary of the primary source elsewhere, do not put undue weight on its contents.
- A primary source may be used on Wikipedia only to make straightforward, descriptive statements of facts that can be verified by any educated person with access to the primary source but without further, specialized knowledge. For example, an article about a musician may cite discographies and track listings published by the record label, and an article about a novel may cite passages to describe the plot, but any interpretation needs a secondary source.
- Do not analyze, evaluate, interpret, or synthesize material found in a primary source yourself; instead, refer to reliable secondary sources that do so.
- Do not base an entire article on primary sources, and be cautious about basing large passages on them.
- Do not add unsourced material from your personal experience, because that would make Wikipedia a primary source of that material.
- Use extra caution when handling primary sources about living people; see WP:Biographies of living persons § Avoid misuse of primary sources.
FreeBMD is a "reputable publisher" and puts no interpretation on anything. Moonraker (talk) 13:47, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- That makes sense. I apologise, I probably reverted that a little too hastily without properly looking into the source. I've reinstated your edit. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 14:56, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
Women in Red
Hi there, GearsDatapack, and welcome to Women in Red. I see you have already created the biography of a British athlete and hope there will be many more. In this connection, you might find it useful to look through the guidance in our Ten Simple Rules. You should be interested to see that our year-long focus is on Women in Sports. I have added the appropriate template to the talk page of Corinne Abraham. If you based the article on the German version, you should avoid copyright problems by following the tips in Help:Translation. Please let me know if you run into any difficulties or need assistance. Happy editing!--Ipigott (talk) 17:13, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Thank you for the welcome and the useful links. The current article does not contain any translated material from the German (or any other language) version. I decided to write it from scratch, to ensure everything was reliably sourced as I know other languages have less strict sourcing policies.
- The current version contains more or less all the information I could find by search for sources (unfortunately that leaves it as a stub), but I know there is more content in the German version which may be added by someone who understands German (I don't), and if reliable sources can be found for relevant facts. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 17:23, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
Rollback granted

Hi GearsDatapack. After reviewing your request, I have enabled rollback on your account. Please keep the following things in mind while using rollback:
- Being granted rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle or Ultraviolet. It just adds a [rollback] button next to a page's latest live revision. It does not grant you any additional "status" on Wikipedia, nor does it change how Wikipedia policies apply to you.
- Rollback should be used to revert clear and unambiguous cases of vandalism only. Never use rollback to revert good faith edits. For more information about when rollback is appropriate, see Wikipedia:Rollback § When to use rollback.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war, and it should never be used in a content-related dispute to restore the page to your preferred revision. If rollback is abused or used for this purpose or any other inappropriate purpose, the permission will be revoked.
- Use common sense. If you're not sure about something, ask!
I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, and feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into trouble or have any questions about appropriate use of rollback. If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin) and Wikipedia:Rollback. Good luck and thanks! * Pppery * it has begun... 05:18, 5 March 2026 (UTC)
Temporary account IP viewer granted

Hello, GearsDatapack. Per your request, your account has been granted temporary-account-viewer rights. You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:
- You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
- Access must not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).
It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:
- When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
- Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
- Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with one or more IP addresses (using the CIDR notation format).
Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. You may also voluntarily give up access at any time by visiting Special:Preferences. Happy editing! Sohom (talk) 12:32, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

I think my edit was legitimate and its complete removal instead of amendment isn't n my view been justified.
The citations meet the Wikipedia:Verifiability and the complete removal of coverage including the Financial Times are in my view unjustified.

Question from Aminu energy (23:20, 6 March 2026)
Hello How do I create a citation --Aminu energy (talk) 23:20, 6 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! If you are using the visual editor, there is a button labelled "Cite" in the toolbar at the top, just below the article title. Press that, then paste the URL of whatever you are citing, and the site should automatically format it for you.
- If you are using the source editor (which I wouldn't recommend until you're a bit more experienced), you can insert a citation by adding
<ref>{{template}}</ref>, and replacingtemplatewith one of the citation templates. - You can read more about creating citations at Wikipedia:Citing sources. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 23:39, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

Question from Georgia Jean (09:14, 10 March 2026)
I edited a post and added myself as one of my dad’s children and someone keeps removing it. How can that be stopped! --Georgia Jean (talk) 09:14, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. On Wikipedia, every statement or fact that is included in an article must be backed up by a reliable source. This means that it is found in a newspaper, book, scientific paper, or other trusted published works. Any information which is sourced from other means (for example, you knowing who your father is) is considered to be original research. While you may know the correct fact, that's not proof enough for everyone else.
- For example, I could go around claiming that I'm the son of someone famous and adding my name to their Wikipedia page (despite this being a lie), but unless I can back that claim up with a reliable source, it will just be removed. I'm not saying that you are lying about your claim, but that is why the mechanism is in place. The fact will only get added if you can provide a reliable source.
- In general, you should try to avoid editing pages about people closely related to you, as you have a conflict of interest, and are likely to biased when writing about them, possibly leading to violations of Wikipedia's policies on neutral point of view, or as was the case here, original research. Instead, you should make and edit request on the relevant article's talk page. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 09:52, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

Pending changes reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "pending changes reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on pages protected by pending changes. The list of articles awaiting review is located at Special:PendingChanges, while the list of articles that have pending changes protection turned on is located at Special:StablePages.
Being granted reviewer rights neither grants you status nor changes how you can edit articles. If you do not want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time.

Question from Riapatel335 (13:09, 12 March 2026)
Hi,
Can you please help review my sandbox to see if it looks good to publish?
Best, Ria --Riapatel335 (talk) 13:09, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. Before I look at your article I've noticed a couple of things:
- I noticed that your username contains "Patel". Are you related to the subject of the article (or is it about you)? If so, you have a conflict of interest, and should read the relevant guidelines. If you are writing about yourself, you should also read the policy on autobiographies.
- Also, you generally shouldn't use your user page as a sandbox for creating articles. Draft articles should either go in the draft namespace, or as a userspace draft in your personal sandbox, which you can find by clicking here.
- As for the article itself, most of the content relies on primary sources, which are works by the subject of the article. These are permitted to be used in articles, but should not be used to form the basis of an article. Most information should be based on reliable sources which are independent of the subject. News articles and books are the main sources for biographies, as long as they are not written by the subject. Your citation to the WashU article is one such source, and I advise you to look for others to support your article.
- Finding more reliable sources will also help establish notability, which is the criteria that must be met for any Wikipedia article to exist. If you can find three or more independent published sources which significantly cover the subject, that is generally enough to establish notability. Currently you have one, which is generally not enough.
- Finally, you should ensure that all claims made in the article are backed up by a reliable source, with an inline citation. All content on Wikipedia must be verifiable, and any information you know due to personal connections or otherwise is considered original research, and cannot be used.
- Once you believe the article is ready, you can submit it at articles for creation, where it will be reviewed before being published. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 13:59, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from Blakeleymcmurrey (17:31, 12 March 2026)
How do I directly message a wiki editor that took down my page --Blakeleymcmurrey (talk) 17:31, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! If you want to contact someone, you should do so via their talk page. You can find it by clicking on the link that says "talk" in their signature at the end of their messages or in their edits. In this case it seems like they left a message on your talk page, in which case you can either choose to reply directly (by clicking the "Reply" button at the end of their message), or by going to their talk page and leaving them a message there. Both are common practise.
- I would suggest reading what they have written in their comment to you if you haven't already, as they explained their reasoning for reverting you and provided some useful relevant information. Feel free to ask further questions here or at the teahouse if you want to figure out how best to further improve the article you were working on. {{GearsDatapack|talk|contribs}} 20:21, 12 March 2026 (UTC)
