Mirrors
Thanks for contributing to the article Kazan. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. Sam Kuru (talk) 13:06, 23 November 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for informing me about this mistake I made Kuru, I am really sorry about this.
- I believe that I rushed through finding sources for citations too much, and did not realise that the source was a copy of Wikipedia’s article for the same topic, as I falsely thought it was a primary source.
- I have put up a replacement citation on the article already, and I sincerely hope that it is up to the standards of Wikipedia. I will try not to make the same mistake again in the future. Thank you. Gileselig (talk) 15:20, 23 November 2025 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Mobile Guardian logo.png
Thanks for uploading File:Mobile Guardian logo.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. Orphaned non-free image File:Mobile Guardian logo.png

Thanks for uploading File:Mobile Guardian logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of non-free use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Johnj1995 (talk) 23:54, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Johnj1995, I actually created that image for an article which I am still drafting, and haven’t submitted for review yet. It can be seen in the draft page of the article. Can you please elaborate more on what I should do regarding this situation? Thank you. Gileselig (talk) 00:44, 1 December 2025 (UTC)
Your submission at Articles for creation: Mobile Guardian (December 1)

- Hi @Smallangryplanet! Thanks for reviewing my article. Though I am disappointed that my article did not pass review, I guess that is to be expected for my first article.
- Admittedly, I did use AI for the base of my content, which I copy edited, added links to other articles, and found new sources. Obviously, it appears that these efforts were insufficient to qualify for a pass.
- I will continue working on the article, and I will resubmit it in the future.
- Thank you! Gileselig (talk) 13:17, 2 December 2025 (UTC)
- Good luck and thank you for your work! Please do check in with the WP:TEAHOUSE for help as well. Smallangryplanet (talk) 13:27, 2 December 2025 (UTC)

Cake
Hi, Gileselig! All content requires the inclusion of a source for that content. I've found and added one for you at Cake#Flourless cake. Couldn't find one that supported nuts, so I cut that, but if you know of one, we can add it back with that source. Valereee (talk) 14:11, 15 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Valereee! Thank you so much for sourcing my previously unsourced material. I apologise for not adding a source to my content, and I will make sure to do it next time. I just learned of the “nuts” part of my addition from my cooking class, which is of course not really reliable. I will add a source supporting nuts if I can. Thank you again! Gileselig (talk) 12:14, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
- Gilesalig, no worries, newer editors often aren't sure what additions need sourcing. Answer in 2025 is "everything that isn't WP:BLUESKY". I actually found a source for nuts -- well, nut meals -- so added it back in. And welcome to WP! Hope you enjoy it. Valereee (talk) 12:29, 16 December 2025 (UTC)
American English dates
On Wikipedia the general protocol is to use American English dates as per Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Spelling. Dafootballguy (talk) 02:55, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Dafootballguy, can you please clarify which article I made a problematic edit on? 𝕲𝖎𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖌 :) 02:57, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
- Your userpage uses British English for the date. Dafootballguy (talk) 03:00, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
- Thanks for your reply. I have read WP:DATE, and it stated that both the British and American format of writing dates is appropriate on Wikipedia, as long as consistency is maintained. Moreover, those rules don’t really apply in user pages, as it is not an article. As I created my own user page, I am allowed to set the tone on how I would like to phrase what I say. Thank you. 𝕲𝖎𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖌 :) 03:07, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
- Additionally, I am from Singapore, a country that uses British English, so I believe that British English is more appropriate. 𝕲𝖎𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖌 :) 03:08, 21 December 2025 (UTC)
- In addition, I also read Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Spelling, which you provided, and it did not say anything about dates, nor did it mention about the need to default to American English. American English should be sued when appropriate, but British English is also really commonly used in many Wikipedia articles. Again, the rules don’t apply for informal user pages. - @Dafootballguy Gileselig is correct: date formatting is just another component of WP:ENGVAR, and there is no requirement to use American civilian dates through Wikipedia.
- (Why do I call them civilian dates? The US military uses dmy date order, so it is not uncommon to see dates written as, e.g., "7 December 1941" in am article related to the US military.) —C.Fred (talk) 03:17, 21 December 2025 (UTC)

You aren't supposed to put that you can't find a source and ask others to do it on Edgefield Secondary School, its talk page is the place to do it at. Thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia. Dylan Hackworth1 (talk) 04:49, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- I apologise, I have never used invisible messages before, so I did not know that it was not for the purpose of asking others to find a citation. However, you also reverted another unrelated edit made by me, was that intentional? 𝕲𝖎𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖌™ :) 05:30, 26 December 2025 (UTC)

Managing a conflict of interest
Hello, Gileselig. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Edgefield Secondary School, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the Edit Request Wizard), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Are you affiliated in anyway with the school, such as being an employee of it or were you an alumni? Aleain (talk) 06:24, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- Hi @Aleain. I am affiliated with Edgefield Secondary School, but I did all of my edits without being told to, nor was I being paid to edit the article. I am not intending to advertise the school in any manner. I just noticed that the school’s article page lacked sufficient secondary sources to meet the requirements of Wikipedia:Notability, so I added some of my own. I have made sure to not add unsourced or biased content, but I apologise for not disclosing this earlier.
- I have personally found several reliable sources that I thought I could add to the article to meet Wikipedia’s notability guidelines, but were there any edits or contributions I made, that were biased, promotional, or subjective in any way? Thanks. 𝕲𝖎𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖌™ :) 06:32, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- I will avoid making significant edits to this article from now on, can you please check if any part of the article that I’ve edited is accidentally promotional in any way? Thanks. 𝕲𝖎𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖌™ :) 06:55, 26 December 2025 (UTC)
- Nvm the whole article got deleted 𝕲𝖎𝖑𝖊𝖘𝖊𝖑𝖎𝖌™ :) 09:28, 2 January 2026 (UTC)

Scam warning
- If anyone asks you for money or payment to publish, protect, or restore a Wikipedia article or draft, it is a scam. Learn about scams on Wikipedia.
- Feedback given (Directly pasted from Wikipedia:Teahouse):
- Most of the notability of the app seems to come from discussion of the cyberattack; so why so much WP:CORPTRIV fluff? You've got a line in the History section which says
According to a press release, in August 2020 Mobile Guardian announced a $1 million COVID-19 software grant. This was intended to support K‑12 schools in implementing mobile device management and distance learning during the pandemic.
Who cares? I mean that not in a passive-aggressive insulting way, but in a literal way: Wikipedia has little interest in what the subject of an article says or wants to say about themselves, or what their associates say about them. Wikipedia is almost exclusively interested in what people who have no connection with the subject, and who have not been prompted or fed information on behalf of the subject, have chosen to publish about the subject in reliable sources. If enough material is cited from independent sources to establish notability, a limited amount of uncontroversial factual information may be added from non-independent sources. There's pretty much no reason to include anything the company's own press releases say about them, certainly not something as mundane (and borderline promotional) as them giving a software grant to schools 6 years ago. - In the 'operations' section, you begin with
Mobile Guardian has tools that help parents manage...
again, this article should not be promoting the company's services to us in any way. Language likeThis helps administrators to enforce security policies.
belongs on the company's website, where they're trying to sell this product to school administrators. If you're going to include information about the app's functionality; that's all we need to know about, the functionality. You don't need to tell us how this would benefit a school administration. - It's generally faux pas to use other articles as an example of what to do, but look at Google Drive#Features for example. At no point does it say something like "Google Drive's cloud functionality helps to increase workplace productivity." It just tells us what it does, not why it does it.
