IABot question

Hi! I've been trying to figure out how other editors run IAbot like this, so I'm finally just asking someone. I know how to run jobs from the management console, but what tool are you using to run it in individual pages from your own account? Is this a module in AWB or something similar? Alyo (chat·edits) 18:37, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I'm not sure if you need special permission to do this but from a page's history tab just hit "fix dead links" which should be on the far right of "external tools". J04n(talk page) 19:30, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
Ahh, I see it--never noticed that before. Thanks! Alyo (chat·edits) 19:31, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Artworks and Cover arts

Greetings J04n, thanks for adding the album art to King Zamar. I was wondering, since I heavily work on creating articles of songs and albums, how does one get permission to add an album art or a song cover art on Wikimedia commons, or get it licensed under Fair use?
Thanks in advance, I'll be on the look out for your response. dxneo (talk) 20:45, 23 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, If it's under copy right it can't be added to commons but all you need to get fair use permission is to include the following during the upload and filling in the blanks:
{{Non-free use rationale album cover
| Article =
| Use = Infobox
| Name =
| Artist =
| Label =
| Website =
}}
== Licensing ==
{{Non-free album cover|image has rationale=yes}}
J04n(talk page) 20:52, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks a lot you're a lifesaver, I'll try and see if it works. dxneo (talk) 21:14, 23 September 2023 (UTC)
J04n, sorry to disturb you at this hour as it is 02:05am (SAST), Using the Upload wizard i seem to can't get past the second step which is "Release rights", I tried using the "Another reason not mentioned above" so that I can paste that template but instead I get slammed with a red link "Template:Non-free use rationale album cover". What do I do from here? dxneo (talk) 00:05, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
I don't use upload wizard, just type the name of the file you are going to create with .jpg into the infobox, which creates a redlink. Then clicking on the redlink will allow you to upload the image. J04n(talk page) 00:08, 24 September 2023 (UTC)
Thanks, it worked. dxneo (talk) 00:52, 24 September 2023 (UTC)

Greetings sir J04n, a question, does music recording certification alone help a (stub) page to stay afloat? (I do recall that certificates signify notability)
I once created "Amaphiko" before I became an autopatroller and it was marked as reviewed meaning it wasn't auto reviewed, so I was wondering if maybe I could create one more without faltering my account or would it be abusing my rights? dxneo (talk) 06:57, 28 September 2023 (UTC)

A recording being certified is a criterion for notability, no once could fault you for creating notable stubs. J04n(talk page) 13:21, 28 September 2023 (UTC)
Hi, I just created article for Selena’s Preciosa album. Could you help me with some artwork. Tejanorules (talk) 01:28, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
Tejanorules, in this case I think you should at least wait for a new page reviewer to patrol the article first, please be patient. dxneo (talk) 01:57, 3 October 2023 (UTC)
Hi JO4n, I was wondering if it would be possible for you to add alternative artwork to infoboxes of Selena’s independent albums. They were re-released in 2006-2007 as Selena Classic series. I just thought they could use them as other album articles usually have alternative covers included in their infoboxes along with original album artwork. “Alpha-vol 1, Munequito de trapo-vol 2, And the winner is Vol 3, preciosa-vol 4, Dulce Amor-vol 5. If you could do this, I would greatly appreciate it. Tejanorules (talk) 22:25, 4 January 2024 (UTC)
Hi, considering that we have over 12,000 pages missing the primary cover art I'm not going to start spending time looking for secondary covers. Also there's this" ...per WP:NFCC#3 use of non-free content is to be minimal, and not to be used if one item can convey equivalent significant information. An alternative cover that is significantly different from the original and is widely distributed and/or replaces the original has generally been held to pass this criterion. Also, an alternative cover that is the subject of specific (sourced) critical commentary passes the criteria for inclusion. Covers that are essentially similar, despite differences in colouring, poses, text, etc., should not be included. Perhaps after cleaning up the primary backlog I'll look at some of these but I tend to find big backlogs and shift my attention to them. Be well, J04n(talk page) 22:48, 4 January 2024 (UTC)

Wig Wam - Wall Street cover art

Hey dude,

Saw that you added a cover art for the Wig Wam album Wall Street (2012). The cover art that's currently in place is the European edition and according to the band, it's not the one they intended for this release. The artwork they wanted to use is the one that ended up on the Norwegian and Japanese edition. Some miscommunication between the band's Norwegian label and their international label caused a mix-up. See the following interview for a source on the matter: http://www.queensofsteel.com/2005/07/wig-wam-eng/

The album cover in question: https://is1-ssl.mzstatic.com/image/thumb/Music4/v4/20/20/1b/20201bdb-f5ce-3a29-5761-e30df1822666/7332334361247.jpg/1200x1200bb.jpg

This artwork is the preferred version of the band and what they consider the album's 'real' artwork. Highly suggest that the album page use this one instead of the other cover art. I replaced the file that you originally uploaded (apologies for doing this right away instead of giving you a heads-up on the issue), but as this is technically not the right solution and I'm not too savvy with uploading and filling out the forms in Wikimedia, it would probably be best if you uploaded a new file and set this one as the main artwork. :D ValhaIl (talk) 19:50, 20 October 2023 (UTC)

Hello J04n, I hope you're doing well. You recently edited the article and rescued the sources. Looking through it I got the idea that you are archiving the source. I didn't knew if there a local tool or how does it works. So I would like to more about the tool and its usages on articles. Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 04:58, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Howdy, very easy: from a page's history tab just hit "fix dead links" which should be on the far right of "external tools". J04n(talk page) 13:30, 9 November 2023 (UTC)
I didn't came across this tool till today. The usage of the tool is only for dead links fixes or it can be used on newly created articles too (maybe with a week old sources). Thanks C1K98V (💬 ✒️ 📂) 13:59, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Hello C1K98V, try using the IABot, easy to use and I think it is or does what you're asking for. I'll be on the lookout for your response Thank you. dxneo (talk) 13:55, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
Oh yes J04n definitely used the IAbot, I just checked the page history. Ciao! dxneo (talk) 14:04, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

Translation

Hello J04n, I have a small problem, someone translated Afro house to Japanese, however the content written in the Japanese version does not correspond with the English/primary version or so the google translator tool say, and worst part is that I cannot CSD, PROD, AfD or even improve nor rewrite the article since I don't know Japanese. Could you please resolve this problem? Thank you. dxneo (talk) 14:01, 20 November 2023 (UTC)

Request of third opinion in dispute

Hello J04n. I found your name, looking at Wikipedia:Administrator review. Because you willfully submitted your work for review, I decided to contact you. I am currently in a dispute with an administrator. I was wondering if you are willing to provide your input as part of the dispute resolution process. Don Ienner: Later career and Columbia Records

Hi. I noticed that you are an active member of WikiProject Musicians. Therefore, I thought you might be interested in taking a look at an edit request I recently posted at Talk:Don_Ienner#Later_career. Although Don Ienner is not a musician himself, as the head of Columbia Records and Sony Music, he helped launch the careers of many popular contemporary musicians, so I am hoping this might interest you. I wonder if, while you are already on the talk page, you would also look at a previous edit request I posted at Talk:Don Ienner#Columbia Records & Sony Music section, which was only partially implemented. I was in a discussion with another editor about the bullet points he did not implement, but he has not responded to me. I would really appreciate it if you can look and see what you think over there as well. Thanks, GarrettEye (talk) 12:53, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

Infobox television

Hey, thanks for adding infoboxes to television articles. If you can, please don't add the complete list of parameters as those are just not useful for most articles and some are mutually exclusive so adding both is never helpful. If you really must add empty values, use Template:Infobox television#Short which at least has lesser things to clean up after. Also, if you don't want to care about spacing, please use {{subst:Infobox television/subst as it automatically fixes spacing. Gonnym (talk) 14:39, 8 February 2024 (UTC)

WikiCup 2024 February newsletter

The 2024 WikiCup is off to a flying start, with 135 participants. This is the largest number of participants we have seen since 2017.

Our current leader is newcomer Generalissima (submissions), who has one FA on John Littlejohn (preacher) and 10 GAs and 12 DYKs mostly on New Zealand coinage and Inuit figures. Here are some more noteworthy scorers:

As a reminder, competitors may submit work for the first round until 23:59 (UTC) on 27 February, and the second round starts 1 March. Remember that only the top 64 scoring competitors will make it through to the second round; currently, competitors need at least 15 points to progress. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, and you hope to get it promoted before the end of the round, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. However, please remember to continue to offer reviews at GAN, FAC and all the other pages that require them to prevent any backlogs which could otherwise be caused by the Cup. As ever, questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup and the judges (Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs), Epicgenius (talk · contribs), and Frostly (talk · contribs)) are reachable on their talk pages. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. New categories and templates

Hey J04n, when creating album by artist subcategories (live, compilation, EPs, etc.) could you also include the categories “by artist” and “by Fooian artists” as well as any appropriate genres as parents? Also, it is not absolutely necessary to create such subcategories for an artist who releases a single live album or one compilation album. Nothing against it either but it can make things simpler to stick with the status quo.

Out of curiousity, what got you interested in creating categories and musician templates? You are a long-time editor but really haven’t delved in those areas previously. I know you have always done a fabulous job adding album covers to articles that didn’t have them, and I noticed this change when your creations began showing up on User:AlexNewArtBot/AlbumSearchResult. Cheers. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 05:47, 20 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the tip. I simply started adding categories because I (finally) cleared the backlog of missing album covers. J04n(talk page) 13:08, 20 February 2024 (UTC)
Hey again. Great job creating new navigational boxes. Just want to point out that musical group navboxes have their own categorization scheme, so something like Template:The Bad Plus should go in Category:United States jazz musical group navigational boxes and not Category:American jazz musician navigational boxes. It's funny though...it looks like you found Jax 0677's template creation "to do" list from your latest batch. StarcheerspeaksnewslostwarsTalk to me 21:53, 5 March 2024 (UTC)

thanks for adding these! TlonicChronic (talk) 16:06, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

Thanks for cleaning up the title of my first article!

Thanks for moving my article, The Elephants of Mars, to the proper case, and for adding the cover image. Weird thing is, I added a cover image myself originally, but it seems that it was removed by a bot for a lack of fair-use rationale, despite me adding a fair-use rationale when I uploaded it... https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=The_Elephants_of_Mars&diff=1210958509&oldid=1210934072

The image I had uploaded is still at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Joe_Satriani_-_The_Elephants_of_Mars.png - since it's been reuploaded, should I delete it? Thanks Jedibob5 (talk) 16:01, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

Hi Jedibob5, you're very welcome. Not sure why the bot targeted your image but I just deleted it. Nice job on your first article! J04n(talk page) 16:06, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
Much appreciated, thanks! I wonder if it had something to do with the title case issue... I think I may have put the lowercase "of" in the article title for the fair-use rationale, so perhaps the bot didn't see it as the same article while it still had the uppercase "Of." Jedibob5 (talk) 18:59, 29 February 2024 (UTC)
@Jedibob5 yes, if the fair use and page don't perfectly match the bot will remove it. J04n(talk page) 19:01, 29 February 2024 (UTC)

The name of the EP is titled Devil's Son (From the Vaults) 600CW (talk) 21:05, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

@600CW, Discogs does not help to establish notability, you're going to have to find a source that reviews or talks about the album. I'm not sure this album is going make it. Read WP:NALBUM to understand the criteria. J04n(talk page) 23:01, 10 March 2024 (UTC)
@600CW, I added a couple of references. If you attempt to start an article again, you should first find some quality references then go from there. I highly recommend you read Your first article. J04n(talk page) 23:48, 10 March 2024 (UTC)

Hello J04n, I think you made a mistake by deleting the above mentioned article. We Don't Trust You is the first collaborative studio album released on March 22, 2024, and We Still Don't Trust You is the second collaborative studio album scheduled for release on April 12, 2024. Upscaling cover art for That's Why I Gave Up on Music

Hi there. Thank you for uploading the cover art for That's Why I Gave Up on Music. I didn't do it at the time, since I was trying to figure out an optimal resolution—one that's a bit clearer as well as complies with the non-free use policy.
Would it be possible to upscale the image so as much as the phrasing "Tyska Skolgränd" and the other one beside it are roughly visible? If you read the story, you understand how important it is because of it being a prominent place visited by the main character and its mention in the future sequels.
I understand that it is possible to list the same in the caption too, but since I have yet to add the original caption, and if the place name is added as well, it'd be a little too long. But that's what the intentional high scale image with valid rationale is for, right? Needless to say, the image would still be inferior to the original, and it only ever needs to be upscaled so much as the phrasing is vaguely visible. What do you think? Is it appropriate to do that for this purpose? Lunar-akauntotalk 06:46, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
@Lunar-akaunto, I just added a better image, but it's tough because the lettering is so small. J04n(talk page) 00:20, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
I see. Then, would the reason I stated above be plenty to demonstrate the intentional use of high resolution? What's your take on it, Do you suggest trying it? Currently, I am working on the body of that and another article, so I cannot do it at the moment. If you see the potential and choose to do it, I'd be thankful. Lunar-akauntotalk 09:46, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
probably not J04n(talk page) 12:50, 12 May 2024 (UTC)
I will try to do it later, but if it doesn't work, I will use the caption instead. Anyhow, thank you for your input and for uploading the cover art. Lunar-akauntotalk 15:26, 12 May 2024 (UTC)

Please insert the alt= parameter when uploading images

Hello J04n. Please insert the alt = parameter where you upload cover images per WP:ALT. I don't think any editor would necessarily expect you to describe all images you're uploading, but it should be present per the linked guideline (and WP:ACCESS). Ss112 09:21, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

@Ss112, thank you for removing the perfectly fine image I added to Hardstone Psycho and replacing it with one with a parental advisory label on it. Please show me a link to the conversation about cropping images. J04n(talk page) 14:42, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
J04n, I have pings turned off. As I said, this was 5+ years ago, and you'll note I also said I couldn't recall where it occurred. I don't keep a repository of links for future reference (do you?), but I specifically recall it happening and an admin disapproving of regular editors cropping images/substantially altering images from the source they have linked. That being said, I don't know why you're replying to a message I removed and admitted I may be incorrect about as I already found MOS:IMAGES says it's mostly fine to crop images, even if I don't think it's right to do so.
Besides, I added "blank" in cover= so Hardstone Psycho was removed from the infoboxes lacking an album cover category you patrol so that the cover could be added when it became available, but you still found it somehow anyway—and then you go out of your way to find an image to crop just so you can avoid using a Parental Advisory sticker? Seems a bit much to do for one cover. I'm sure a Parental Advisory-less cover we don't have to extensively crop will become available soon enough. Ss112 02:05, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

Can you please add cover art for the article Attitude (Don Toliver song)? You can get it from here: https://music.apple.com/us/album/attitude-single/1749160527. Thanks! 24.28.41.229 (talk) 00:31, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

Hi again. Thank you for adding the cover art for the album, but a previously added file already existed that was renamed (the file mover probably forgot to update it on the article). I hope you don't mind, but I replaced it because the previous file size was smaller. Lunar-akauntotalk 13:27, 21 June 2024 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Bad to the Bone (Inner Circle album).jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Bad to the Bone (Inner Circle album).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — Ирука13 10:57, 7 January 2025 (UTC)

Blue Paradise album cover

Hey, heads up, I don't think File:Blue Paradise.jpg is the actual album cover for Blue Paradise; I believe that's just a placeholder image compiling all the different possible digipack versions available - no album will actually include the photos of all 9 members; each member's image is a separate edition (you can see in the store listing that you can select which member's digipack you want to buy).

I don't believe the actual standalone album cover has been released yet. RachelTensions (talk) 01:02, 5 February 2025 (UTC)

File:Elvis Aron Presley (box set).jpg

Hi Jo4n. You might want to ask about File:Elvis Aron Presley (box set).jpg at c:COM:VPC or WP:MCQ because this cover art seems too simple to be eligible for copyright protection under US copyright law per c:COM:TOO US and c:Commons:When to use the PD-signature tag. Most signatures are ineligible for copyright protection under US copyright law, which means the only potentially copyright element for the cover art is the background itself, which looks fairly non-creative (at least at first glance). If this file can be relicensed as {{PD-signature}} or something similar, it can be moved to Commons. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:57, 18 February 2025 (UTC)

Assistance needed

Hi! Thank you for all your hard work!

I would like to replace the artwork in some articles, can I just upload new files on top of the existing ones?

  1. "Forever (Slim Whitman album)". I think the mono version cover is preferable: https://www.discogs.com/release/7016156-Slim-Whitman-Forever. --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:57, 30 April 2025 (UTC)
  2. "Slim Whitman Sings (1959 album)". It is not the American cover, the American cover is this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/4233785-Slim-Whitman-Slim-Whitman-Sings;
  3. "Heart Songs & Love Songs". The cover says "London", so it is not American. The Imperial Records one is here: https://www.discogs.com/release/10280841-Slim-Whitman-Heart-Songs-Love-Songs;
  4. "The Eddy Duchin Story (soundtrack)". It is not the first edition cover, the first edition cover is probably this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/9647168-Carmen-Cavallaro-The-Eddy-Duchin-Story. (The photo would need to be cropped a bit at the edges, though.)

(Or you can just do it yourself if you have the time.) --Moscow Connection (talk) 00:57, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

Correction.

  1. "The Eddy Duchin Story (soundtrack)". The first edition cover is this one: https://www.discogs.com/release/4639525-Carmen-Cavallaro-The-Eddy-Duchin-Story.
Billboard noted: "The cover is rather busy-looking, but photos of Power and Kim Novak give it name value for displays." So it has to be this one.

The Toast of New Orleans

Hi! Excuse me for disturbing you again.

The files "Operatic Arias and Duets as Sung in The Toast of New Orleans.jpg" and "Mario Lanza Sings Popular Songs from The Toast of New Orleans.jpg" depict one and the same cover. (Look, both say: "Operatic Arias and Duets as Sung in 'The Toast of New Orleans'").

The file Mario Lanza Sings Popular Songs from The Toast of New Orleans.jpg is of better quality, so you may want to rename it to "Operatic Arias and Duets as Sung in The Toast of New Orleans.jpg".

As for the album Mario Lanza Sings Popular Songs from The Toast of New Orleans, its cover is here: https://www.discogs.com/master/1053735-Mario-Lanza-The-Toast-Of-New-Orleans. --Moscow Connection (talk) 20:55, 4 May 2025 (UTC)

Hi Jo4n! Thank you for all your work with adding the album covers to the pages I made so far. I found an alternative cover for the Expectations of Love page recently made, you can see it in this link: https://www.michaelkamen.com/catalogue/h9wtf1s82p91ydbjyd4agrrsvmizab

I just made the template to add it, so feel free to just drop it in if you can and whenever you are able to. Thank you so much!

The High & Mighty

Thanks for adding an image for The High & Mighty's most recent album! I was wondering if you also were the one who uploaded it to the Commons? I'm asking as I want to do the same after creating the page, but I've always been at a loss as to what license to use when adding another's album art. There are dozens of pages that are missing their respective covers, and if I knew how to add them, it would be a great. Секретное общество (talk) 22:22, 11 August 2025 (UTC)

Whoa, thank you!

Thank you for creating template:Gustavo Santaolalla, that was awesome to see get done! And thank you for your over 15 years of service as an Admin here. Have a rockin' good one! BarntToust 02:32, 21 August 2025 (UTC)

Marlene Dietrich, Der Blonde Engel – Die Retrospektive

Hello, I hope you are doing well. I'm writing to ask about the resizing of the cover for Marlene Dietrich: Der Blonde Engel – Die Retrospektive. I had understood that the original size, which was under 300, was the correct specification. Could you please clarify the reason for the change? Thank you. Markus WikiEditor (talk) 00:57, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

Hi @Markus WikiEditor, see WP:IMAGERES, non-free images cannot exceed 100,000 pixels. I replaced your image with a 202x355 sized image which comes in at only 71,710, well within the guidelines, and IMO fills in the Infobox nicer. Nice work on filling in the Marlene Dietrich discography. J04n(talk page) 09:47, 29 August 2025 (UTC)

Guide to temporary accounts

Hello, J04n. This message is being sent to remind you of significant upcoming changes regarding logged-out editing.

Starting 4 November, logged-out editors will no longer have their IP address publicly displayed. Instead, they will have a temporary account (TA) associated with their edits. Users with some extended rights like administrators and CheckUsers, as well as users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will still be able to reveal temporary users' IP addresses and all contributions made by temporary accounts from a specific IP address or range.

How do temporary accounts work?

Editing from a temporary account
  • When a logged-out user completes an edit or a logged action for the first time, a cookie will be set in this user's browser and a temporary account tied with this cookie will be automatically created for them. This account's name will follow the pattern: ~2025-12345-67 (a tilde, year of creation, a number split into units of 5).
  • All subsequent actions by the temporary account user will be attributed to this username. The cookie will expire 90 days after its creation. As long as it exists, all edits made from this device will be attributed to this temporary account. It will be the same account even if the IP address changes, unless the user clears their cookies or uses a different device or web browser.
  • A record of the IP address used at the time of each edit will be stored for 90 days after the edit. Users with the temporary account IP viewer (TAIV) user right will be able to see the underlying IP addresses.
  • As a measure against vandalism, there are two limitations on the creation of temporary accounts:
    • There has to be a minimum of 10 minutes between subsequent temporary account creations from the same IP (or /64 range in case of IPv6).
    • There can be a maximum of 6 temporary accounts created from an IP (or /64 range) within a period of 24 hours.

Temporary account IP viewer user right

How to enable IP Reveal

Impact for administrators

  • It will be possible to block many abusers by just blocking their temporary accounts. A blocked person won't be able to create new temporary accounts quickly if the admin selects the autoblock option.
  • It will still be possible to block an IP address or IP range.
  • Temporary accounts will not be retroactively applied to contributions made before the deployment. On Special:Contributions, you will be able to see existing IP user contributions, but not new contributions made by temporary accounts on that IP address. Instead, you should use Special:IPContributions for this (see a video about IPContributions in a gallery below).

Rules about IP information disclosure

  • Publicizing an IP address gained through TAIV access is generally not allowed (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 previously edited as 192.0.2.1 or ~2025-12345-67's IP address is 192.0.2.1).
  • Publicly linking a TA to another TA is allowed if "reasonably believed to be necessary". (e.g. ~2025-12345-67 and ~2025-12345-68 are likely the same person, so I am counting their reverts together toward 3RR, but not Hey ~2025-12345-68, you did some good editing as ~2025-12345-67)
  • See Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer § What can and can't be said for more detailed guidelines.

Useful tools for patrollers

  • It is possible to view if a user has opted-in to view temporary account IPs via the User Info card, available in Preferences Appearance Advanced options Tick Enable the user info card
    • This feature also makes it possible for anyone to see the approximate count of temporary accounts active on the same IP address range.
  • Special:IPContributions allows viewing all edits and temporary accounts connected to a specific IP address or IP range.
  • Similarly, Special:GlobalContributions supports global search for a given temporary account's activity.
  • The auto-reveal feature (see video below) allows users with the right permissions to automatically reveal all IP addresses for a limited time window.

Replaceable non-free use File:Reasonable Woman (album).jpg

Thanks for uploading File:Reasonable Woman (album).jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file's talk page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. JohnCWiesenthal (talk) 15:16, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

Removal of my name from the Chapman Stick page

On the Chapman Stick wikipedia page my name has been removed several times from the list of notable players. The removals have been done by J04n and TheTheThe.

Here are my contributions as a Stick player and a Stick artist over the last 25 years:

1) I am a featured artist in the Chapman Stick Exhibit in the Musical Instrument Museum in Phoenix, AZ. There are only 3 artists in this exhibit plus Emmett Chapman the inventor himself. Emmett Chapman made the decision to include me in this exhibit. I never had to ask.

2) The inventor Emmett Chapman made me the primary endorser of the Chapman Stick Railboard instrument. There are Youtube videos of me and Emmett debuting the instrument. Emmett Chapman made this decision. I never had to ask. There also is no mention of the Railboard Stick instrument on the Chapman Stick wikipedia page.

3) I've held a writer producer contract with Warner Brothers for over two decades. I use the Chapman Stick to produce music that has been placed on 100's of TV shows throughout the world. I can prove this with my BMI royalty statements and I have copies of the writer contracts with Warner Brothers.

4) On Youtube I have the 5th most subscribed Youtube Channel for Stick players right behind Tony Levin. I've been viewed millions of times and I am considered by many as one of the most influential and innovative players of the instrument in the world. Some of these videos have had hundreds of thousands of views. These videos go back over 15 years to the present.

5) I've been a featured Instructor at Stick Seminars in Vancouver BC and Interlochen Michigan as recent as 2025.

6) I've released 4 Stick albums under my own name and with my band "The Electronic Jazz Ensemble". I'm a featured player in the "Stick Night Live DVD" released by Stick Enterprises in 2009.

Given my time, commitment and online footprint as a Stick player I can't believe I have to bring this to your attention without this research being done before my name is deleted. Please help me understand why I am consistently removed from the Chapman Stick page's list of Notable players.

Thanks for your assistance with this matter.

You have accidentally redirected Stranger Things: Soundtrack from the Netflix Series, Season 5 to Stranger Things 5 (soundtrack) by mistake. Actually both as both are different albums, the one album included the compilation of songs used in the series and the other included the original score. You can check the Music of Stranger Things, where there are both original scores and compilation soundtracks for all the seasons as well. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Record-Rama.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Record-Rama.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file licensed as "for non-commercial use only", "no derivative use", "for Wikipedia use only", or "used with permission"; and it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag and if necessary, a complete fair use rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
