Vandalism
Hi @Joyous! I would like to thank you for your recent support in attempting to stop vandalism to the Rother Radio page. I have seen that users have had accounts blocked due to repeated vandalism, however new accounts keep being created and it's being attacked every day. Is there anything we can do? Thank you. - It looks like you've gotten help from some other admins. Sorry I wasn't around. This is the one day of the week when I have other obligations all day long. When I noticed that the events were unspooling at WP:ANI, I was covered in unmentionable opossum... "debris". (I volunteer at a wildlife rehab. Rewarding, but messy.) Joyous! Noise! 20:13, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
- Hi, no don't apologise at all. It just started getting a bit much and I needed some assistance as wasn't sure what to do. But I've had some really helpful people today who have helped, provided assistance and given some good knowledge on how to proceed should it happen again and not be too hasty and keep reverting changes. It can be difficult at times to step back and assess the situation sometimes as we are human, but it's a learning curve! Thanks for everything and great to hear about your volunteering at a wildlife rehab. I've been involved with Wildlife too and it always fascinates me! - @Joyous!
- I made the latest edit, I can confirm I am not linked to the previous vandalism, nor am I trying to vandalise.
- I believe the referenced information is not linked to Rother radio. If either of you want to discuss further please write on my talk page. If I don’t hear from you I will be reverting back to my previous edit. Thanks Chipshopcurry (talk) 06:11, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
- Writing talk messages telling me to "behave" is not very constructive. Especially from a new account that has constantly targeted the page since being created yesterday. Mister C 2024 (talk) 16:46, 20 November 2025 (UTC)
Help at iPhone 14
Hi @Joyous!, thanks for you counter vandalism help. Would it be possible to get page protection on iPhone 14 to deal with the sock puppet problem going on there? Lenny Marks (talk) 23:48, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
- @Joyous! Hey, not sure if you remember this issue. But who I assume to be the the same vandal(s) has been continuing to block evade with sock puppets and vandalize iPhone articles. All of the probable socks have some version of My Little Pony related titles. Is there anything that can be done to address the rampant account creation? Obviously I don't know what IPs are being used but could it be a VPN or something? -- Lenny Marks (talk) 20:37, 4 December 2025 (UTC)

Olivia Rodrigo requested protection
Hi! Considering you were involved in the blocking of a user that vandalized the page Olivia Rodrigo, I don't know if this is appropriate, but I want to inform you that I have submitted a RPP for Olivia Rodrigo. Any admin, including you is welcome to make a decision on the request. The link to it is Wikipedia:Requests for page protection/Increase #Olivia Rodrigo. Also, if you make a decision, I would preferably have it on the RPP, and be a typical response rather than just a reply to someone that sent you a message. Thank you. She's back...
As much as I hate to ping you again given how you stated you were worn out by this user the last time we discussed her, Magician Abby is back. This time she seems to have lost access to her original Wikipedia account and created a new one at User talk:Magicien Abby. (She posted a message on my talk saying it was her, so I doubt this is socking per WP:LEGITSOCK.) She was involved in an edit war on relating to Banu Fazara. As much as I hate to say this, I'm beginning to get the feeling something may need to be done about Abby's presence here, because now I feel like we've given her enough rope. Hi! I saw you block Kitten56795; WP:DUCK of Kitten67069, exact same behavior. Remember when you blocked Bananas1208 back in April for the same type of stuff, all 3 accounts belong to an LTA called User:Saturnium119, who has been active in August 2023 and based in the DFW area. I remember you also blocked Bobions111; that is not Saturnium119, but rather, an impersonator. Abby
Hi Joyous, it's me again. Magicien Abby just messaged me again on my talk page with some more WP:OR on Pennywise. As much as I hate to say it, my patience with him has officially run out. He clearly read the last ANI thread and declined to participate in it (which is his choice), as evidenced in the edit summary at Special:Permalink/1327455255. The fact that he is still, after so many discussions, posting original research despite all of our efforts to get him to stop leads me to think that some sort of action may be needed. Unspecified Deletion on an interesting discussion
Hi, hope you're well. I saw this deletion:
- 23:14, 29 August 2025 Joyous! talk contribs changed visibility of a revision on page Talk:Curry: content hidden, edit summary hidden and username hidden (RD3: Purely disruptive material) (thank)
Really can't fathom how this would be considered RD3. It's an interesting etymological or historical point. The word and concept 'curry' far predates the modern understanding that refers to Indian foods, and has a distinct etymology. No reasoning was provided for this deletion. I can't see how this was possibly a controversial or "harrassment," and it's certainly not irrelevant to a page about the history of curry.

Hi Joyous The other day I posted a couple of ill-considered and unpleasant additions to a certain wiki page which I'd now like to remove, having come to my senses! - As Ohnoitsjamie mentioned, we don't consider a reference to a Wikipedia article as a reliable source. The only source I see in this article just says "executed in a Russian prison camp," but doesn't specify why. We need a source that explicitly says that he was killed for Nazi collaboration. Joyous! Catherine the Great wiki page
Thanks, I usually use all caps for brackets because people really like undoing summaries for no particular reason, and no one reads the notes so I use caps so that people notice it. Don't mean to demand anything, though I do apologise for making it seem like that. Anyway, the image I put first keeps on getting undoed, when I keep on telling people in the edit summary that I put that portrait for Catherine II because all the portraits they put are copies of the original, and they are meant to make the empress' face look more idealized or youthful. Thanks. Richard the Lionheart MS (talk) Richard the Lionheart MS (talk) 17:51, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- I do admit however, for the first time I edited the page, I did yell to tell people to not change the image, which was really petty of me, and I learnt from my mistakes, though after the first editing, I realised that you can't force people to do something if you don't have authority over them. Insanely bizarre edits that I have no clue on how to respond to
Normally, I try to discuss these things with the user before bringing it to the attention of admins, but I'm very confused about this and don't know the first step of how I'd go about dealing with it. I was browsing Wikipedia, and looked up the term Grokipedia to deal with any articles that might be sourcing it or what not. Anyways, that's when I found El Coyote (character). I am absolutely baffled at this page for a (seemingly) unimportant comic book character. It's hyper-detailed, has a ton of weird links at the bottom, and then I looked at the pages edit history. User:Clausroh has made almost a thousand edits to the page. It gets stranger, since this amounts for all but two edits by the user (the other two edits were to the El Coyote talk page and to a file related to El Coyote). These edits have been going on for two entire months. I genuinely have no clue as to what this means, but I think it makes sense to bring to an admins attention since I have no clue how to respond to this. Gaismagorm (talk) 21:46, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Holy cow this isn't even the first account I'm pretty sure. Take a look at at User:Claroh. Hundreds of more edits to this one single page. I at first thought this was some AI thing, but no, this was long before AI. I'm even more confused now. Gaismagorm (talk) 21:49, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- Unless there's something wrong about the references, I'm not sure there's much that really needs to be done. Some of the headings seem...not terribly encyclopedic, maybe, and there's at least one external link in the body of the article that should probably point to an internal article. I think you've just stumbled onto someone's niche interest. You might suggest that they publicly link those two accounts so there aren't any accusations of sockpuppetry. Joyous! Noise! 21:53, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- I guess. The issue is, just a quick glance at the refs show that they are, very much, not good. Many links to bing searches, blogspot pages, a Pinterest link, what looks like just straight up links to free versions of the novel (here's hoping that it's in the public domain) and so on. Also, the external links section is definitely, off. Gaismagorm (talk) 21:58, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- You might drop the user a note, then, referring them to something like our page about reliable sources. I'd go with a personal note rather than a template. It's possible no one ever really looked at their sourcing. Joyous! Noise! 22:03, 10 March 2026 (UTC)

im new to wikapedia you sent me a message regarding my edits on noward international highschool, i made this post becuse most of this informaition ive experienced, my personal evidence on this topic is i was threatened with a machete becuse i entered the bathrooms in 2017 year 11 and asked people who were smoking marugana in a stall to stop, they said no so i told them the bathroom is a place to piss and they threatened me with that threat. Later on my way home i saw two people following me so i went home and locked my doors. I was so scared i took rocks home with me large ones and kept them in my pockets to throw. I hope you can see how mutch this means to me the truth is told and my story is told. i still carry rocks with me to this day. - I'm so sorry that happened to you, truly. I'm a former teacher, so I understand how horrible people can be to others at a school. However, material that is added to Wikipedia MUST be able to be verified by looking at a reputable published source. Without that, anyone could add anything to any article, and we'd have no way of knowing if it was true or not. If there weren't any news reports or anything like that, there's really no way to get around the policy of needing a source. Joyous! Noise! 04:48, 16 March 2026 (UTC)

Seriously?
I got banned from editing because I was posting facts re: Nancy Marchand. Pretty weak sauce. ~2026-12855-01 (talk) 01:29, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – April 2026
News and updates for administrators from the past month (March 2026).

- Following a motion, the GSCASTE extended-confirmed restriction in the Indian military history case has been narrowed. It now applies to caste-related topics in South Asia, and the preemptive protection remedy has been amended accordingly.
- The arbitration case Pbsouthwood has been closed.
- The arbitration case Maghreb has been opened. Evidence submissions in this case will close on 7 April.
Did I do this correctly?
I warned a user about a username, was it done correctly? It is at the top of my contributions. Thank you. Dafootballguy | Want to talk? 23:47, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- Looks good! Joyous! Noise! 23:49, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- Is there anything more to do after that? Also, do you like the custom part of my signature? I added it earlier today. Dafootballguy | Want to talk? 23:52, 6 April 2026 (UTC)
- I do like the signature! You might check back with them a little later to see if they've responded to you. If not, ping me and I'll just block. I don't think their edits were good-faith, anyway. Joyous! Noise! 23:55, 6 April 2026 (UTC)

Template Name
Heya! I just saw you use a template here and thought it was really cool. So I wondered if you could tell me which template is. Kind Regards Squawk7700 (talk) 19:18, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
- That one actually isn't a WP template. I wrote it myself, and keep it stored on a notepad app on my laptop, so I can just copy/paste it as necessary. Joyous! Noise! 19:20, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
- Of course, you're welcome to snag it if you want to! Joyous! Noise! 19:21, 8 April 2026 (UTC)
- Oh cool thanks! I will do just that :) Squawk7700 (talk) 19:22, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

- I'd be happy to have a look although I can't guarantee any results :) Squawk7700 (talk) 21:51, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

Figuring out right forum for concern
Hi! Contacting you as a randomly-selected active admin for a bit of neutral/uninvolved advice, because I'm struggling to figure out the right venue for escalating an issue. The relevant article is Shoshana Strook, which needs to comply with BLP policy (a recently deceased person) and is possibly within the contentious topic area of WP:CT/A-I, yet an editor keeps restoring content with inadequate sourcing and synthesis issues despite another editor and me trying to apply an ordinary bold-revert-discuss cycle. Three editors are involved, so it doesn't fit WP:3O; seems like too slow of an edit war for WP:AN/3; sort of both a content and conduct issue, so it's not clearly suited for WP:DR; can't figure out what I'd put on the "Sanction or remedy to be enforced" line in the WP:AE template; doesn't seem like an "urgent" issue for WP:ANI. Do you have a suggestion? Thank you! Dreamyshade (talk) 02:43, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
- Does the issue concern disagreeing about reliable sourcing? The "reliable sources" noticeboard might be the place to go if so. If not, there is also the "original research" noticeboard, as I noticed that OR kept being mentioned in the discussions on the talk page. Joyous! Noise! 03:07, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you, good questions! I think my core concern is the pattern of Wikipedia:Tendentious editing/WP:NOTADVOCACY, rather than the specific bits of content. I realized that WP:AN seems reasonable for something slow-rolling but persistent, so I'll try there. Dreamyshade (talk) 03:42, 9 April 2026 (UTC)
who r u
SPI you might know more about
I've opened an SPI on the users at Traditional Thai Clothing and Loy Krathong, and wanted to have you look over/add things to it if I've missed anything: Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Realsource_1991. Thanks! Realtent (talk) 18:53, 14 April 2026 (UTC)
Your username
Is taking images from pinterest a copyvio?
I saw at Shawn Hatosy you readded an image that was uploaded from Pinterest, and I wanted to ask if that image could be a copyright violation because it's from there? The same user also added an image from pinterest at Patrick Ball (actor). Realtent (talk) 23:26, 15 April 2026 (UTC)
- Oh gosh, I didn't notice the source of the image. Yes, probably it is, since Pinterest is just a collection of links. You might want to remove the image altogether, as well as the one for Patrick Ball. I think no image is better than the stupid one that was there that I removed. Good catch! Joyous! User talk:Firefighterlogi
I'm kind of struggling in a discussion about sourcing policies with this user who you have also warned. Do you see this as trolling? I ask, because I feel somewhat lost here, and hope you can maybe help out a bit. Thank you. JeffSpaceman (talk) 15:12, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- Ignore him. He's not interested in policy: he's interested in winding you up. Look at the contribs, and you'll see almost all vandalism. Joyous! Noise! 15:16, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
- Thank you for the assurance. I had my own suspicions, but did still want to assume good faith that this was a user who merely wasn't properly verifying content. So much for that. Thank you for the advice, though -- I think I need to be better about not letting editors like that get to me. JeffSpaceman (talk) 15:19, 19 April 2026 (UTC)

- Ha! I'm sure that has thickened your skin considerably -- being 23, queer, and an easy target for a variety of assorted reasons makes me more susceptible to those types on here. I guess it is what it is, though; I'm glad to have others here, like you, who can help me through these situations. JeffSpaceman (talk) 15:36, 19 April 2026 (UTC)
