DYK for Air Serbia Flight 324
On 18 February 2026, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Air Serbia Flight 324, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that an investigation on the collision of Air Serbia Flight 324 noted that, despite the aircraft leaking fuel, it was sent to park at the terminal anyway? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Air Serbia Flight 324. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Air Serbia Flight 324), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to nominate it.

Question from Sappy Rose (15:52, 20 February 2026)
Hi- I'm actually not quite sure what I'm doing. I made an account to reply to someone on one of the talk forums, though I'm mainly here for school research. The helping on articles thing seems interesting, which I'd like to know more about even though I might not interact very much. But also, the user page thing is quite confusing in itself, I honestly thought it would be like a normal profile with bio and stuff.. Sorry for the long paragraph, but if you can explain things in simple terms (as I have trouble understanding things sometimes) it would be great! Again, apologies for the paragraph. (LOVE your username by the way!) --Sappy Rose (talk) 15:52, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I've left a collection of links related to editing on your user page. As for user pages, there's a detailed guideline at Wikipedia:User pages, but, in general, we're here to write an encyclopedia, so contents of user pages are generally expected to mostly be stuff related to our work on Wikipedia — which articles you've written, for example, or what fields you edit in. Feel free to ask if you have any other questions, or want anything else explained! JustARandomSquid (talk) 16:01, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- Ah, I see! Well should I just wait out to put something in there until I end up editing something? (If I ever do so, I really wish I had more time to engage in these kinds of things.) Or for now could I put something like "As of 2026, I'm a student doing mostly research-based interactions, any editing is uncertain." (?) I mainly plan to talk in the forums about certain information, though not very often.
- Also, for providing information within the forums, could I be knowledgeable on certain topics and give examples, or should I also find certain things like articles to back me up?
- (For example - As an individual with ASD, I can be knowledgeable on CERTAIN aspects, and could provide certain information as a sort of example/feedback (?) - Or would I have to put in said information, with something to back it up on the side?) Sappy Rose (talk) 16:10, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- "As of 2026, I'm a student doing mostly research-based interactions, any editing is uncertain." seems like something that would be more than fine to put on a user page.
- "mainly plan to talk in the forums about certain information, though not very often." — watch out though, idle chatting about the topic of the article is discouraged; see WP:NOTFORUM.
- "Also, for providing information within the forums, could I be knowledgeable on certain topics and give examples, or should I also find certain things like articles to back me up?" — Yep, information should always be backed up with sources. "I just know it" isn't really acceptable, in fact, it is usually considered WP:OR, which is disallowed. Though if you have information and a reliable source to back it up with, feel free to add it to the article yourself!
- Hope that answers some questions. JustARandomSquid (talk) 16:20, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- Alrighty, thanks! I'll definitely read back through this if I forget anything!! (Along with the other articles on user-rules and such!) Sappy Rose (talk) 16:35, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from Areo fusion (17:31, 20 February 2026)
hi how should i make my editing more refined --Areo fusion (talk) 17:31, 20 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I assume you're asking about how to give the text you write a more encyclopedic feel — that's something that you kind of just have to learn over time, mostly from reading existing articles. There is a guide at Wikipedia:Writing better articles that you might find useful — especially its section on tone. You can also check out the Manual of Style and its various subpages at Wikipedia:Manual of Style — this contains various guidelines on writing articles that we try to follow. I hope that helps! If you have any questions, feel free to ask. JustARandomSquid (talk) 19:56, 20 February 2026 (UTC)

| Thank you for being part of the fight against vandalism on English Wikipedia, and being one of the top-ten most active pending changes reviewers in February 2026. While normally only the top-five are recognized, your hard work is very much appreciated, and Wikipedia is a better place because of your contributions. MWFwiki (talk) 01:11, 25 February 2026 (UTC) |

lol you beat me by a single minute (and your placement was better anyway). Sorry for moving your DYK promotion! I didn't see it, you'd think PSHAW would throw in a warning... Barbalalaika 🐌 22:28, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
- No, my apologies. Also, I promoted Vidoe Smilevski, I see you were trying really hard to verify the source and everything, but I speak Serbian and know where to find it, so I took that one, sorry about that too. JustARandomSquid (talk) 09:01, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- That's understandable. Can you explain that you were able to confirm the source next time? I was left confused as to why a hook was promoted when an issue was still open. Also, I would still have appreciated some more time since I said I was checking the validity of the photo. It can be used as a pictured hook. Виолетова replied to me in her Macedonian talk page, so it's still an active discussion. Barbalalaika 🐌 09:23, 26 February 2026 (UTC)
- Oh, I didn't realise that. We can bump it back later if necessary, which might actually be good anyway, there are two black and white images of people queued fairly closely already. JustARandomSquid (talk) 09:28, 26 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from Anastasios (Tassos) Bountis (09:05, 27 February 2026)
Hello, how do I start putting my Short Biography at the start of my Wikipedia page? --Anastasios (Tassos) Bountis (talk) 09:05, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. I'm not sure what you mean. I'm guessing your page might be Anastasios Bountouris? If you want to add information to the existing article, bear in mind it's not the best idea for people to directly edit articles about themselves. (You can learn more about that at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest.) Instead, it's best if you propose additions to the article on the talk page (Talk:Anastasios Bountouris, the little "Talk" button underneath the article's title takes you there) so other editors can review them, citing sources so the facts can be verified (after all, anyone can claim to be you). Hope that helps! JustARandomSquid (talk) 09:17, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- No my page is NOT "Anastasios Bountouris" It is "Anastasios (Tassos) Bountis". It is true I am trying to start my home page myself. I thought this is a good idea at the beginning. Anastasios (Tassos) Bountis (talk) 09:43, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- If you want to start a completely new page, there are instructions at Help:Your first article. Fair warning though, it's pretty difficult, and a lot of people end up quite frustrated... JustARandomSquid (talk) 09:45, 27 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from JendaKrtitel (03:38, 28 February 2026)
Hello, I have 2 questions: Can I translate an article from another language to English even if it's not that known? Can I use sources from another language? Thanks! :-) --JendaKrtitel (talk) 03:38, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. The second question is easier to answer, so I'll address that first — yes, if the best available sources are in a foreign language, by all means, use them. The relevant guideline is at WP:NONENG. As for translation, other language Wikipedias often have lower standards — you have to make sure that the topic is notable by English Wikipedia standards, and if the article in the other language isn't particularly good, why bother? And there are other considerations, like what if the other article was falsifying its sources, and you don't have access to them to check? But that's just my personal opinion. If you find an article that's of higher quality in another language, feel free to try and translate it. For copyright reasons, it's important that when you do, you link back to the other language article in the edit summary ("content translated from de:Deutschland"), and you can also place {{translated page}} on the newly translated articles talk page to be extra safe. Hope that helps. JustARandomSquid (talk) 07:00, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
- TYSM, that really helps! ^^ JendaKrtitel (talk) 16:23, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from Softwareperson1000 (17:57, 28 February 2026)
Hello, if I am editing and article and there are lots of places in the article where I want to edit far apart from each other, should I make multiple tiny separate edits focusing on one single area at a time, or one large edit to encompass lots of changes in many places throughout the article? Are there some guidelines somewhere regarding this that I should read? --Softwareperson1000 (talk) 17:57, 28 February 2026 (UTC)
- There's not really a guideline on this. On the one hand, a large number of small edits clog up the watchlists of people subscribed to the page, but on the other hand it's hard to see what's going on in one huge edit. I personally like on edit per section, or one type of edit across all of them, but you can just use your best judgement. JustARandomSquid (talk) 18:12, 28 February 2026 (UTC)

Question from THATGIRL67 (02:18, 7 March 2026)
What is something kids are gonna want to read --THATGIRL67 (talk) 02:18, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
- I'm not entirely sure what you mean. If you want recommendations for books, Wikipedia:Reference desk/Humanities is the place for that. If you want Wikipedia articles kids might read, the reference desk might still be the place to ask (specifically Wikipedia:Reference desk/Miscellaneous), but you might also consider Kpedia. Hope that helps. JustARandomSquid (talk) 09:25, 7 March 2026 (UTC)

Hi how do i citate --A Asian Helldiver (talk) 14:39, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! There's a detailed guide at Wikipedia:Citing sources. For the exact mechanics, try Help:Referencing for beginners if you're using the source editor (the one that's like code) and Help:Introduction to referencing with VisualEditor/1 if you're using the visual editor (the one like Microsoft Word). Sy1953 here. Thank you for your invite to participate in the wikipedia community. - Thank you for your response and generosity in inviting me to Wikipedia. I spend a lot of time reading true and fictional historical and geographical journals, books, etc. I am sure that I will be able to be involved in some way.

Hi!
Hi, I'm new to Wikipedia. What are some things I'd need to know to know how to edit? For instance, the "Source" button. What does that do?! How do I use it?! I just don't want to do something wrong and accidentally ruin a article or something. JustAYoungNerd (talk) 20:45, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. The first rule for new editors on Wikipedia is to not worry about doing something wrong, or to be bold, as the guideline puts it. Everything can easily be reversed, and if you're here to contribute constructively, and you only make honest mistakes and learn from them, everything can be forgiven, too. For a general tutorial in editing, see Help:Introduction. For the source button specifically, it depends on the platform, but we use the word to refer to the article's underlying "wikitext", the stuff that kind of looks like code. Hope that helps. Feel free to ask any questions you might have, and I hope you like it here and decide to stay! JustARandomSquid (talk) 21:09, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from DemosthenesofAthens (01:03, 19 March 2026)
Greetings. I was seeking to create a Wikipedia page for a current elected official who is also running for US Congress. Are there benchmarks that have to be achieved prior to being granted authority to create a new Wikipedia page? Thank you in advance. --DemosthenesofAthens (talk) 01:03, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
- Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia. To directly create new articles, yes, you need to have at least ten edits, but you can still submit new articles through the Articles for Creation process, and indeed, it is recommended for newer editors to do this anyway. See Help:Your first article. Hope that helps! JustARandomSquid (talk) 09:02, 19 March 2026 (UTC)

- If you're in your sandbox, all you have to do is open the source editor, the one that looks like code, and paste the code {{subst:submit}} at the top of the page, and it'll do everything automatically for you. JustARandomSquid (talk) 18:20, 19 March 2026 (UTC)
