Initially I plan to follow the link that you have given me under 'Where to get help" and go through the submission section by section. I hope this seems a sensible approach.

Please may I apologise of the info box being a jpeg: my fault entirely. Is there a recommended template that I can use please?

I look forward to hearing from you further as and when convenient for you.

Finally thank you so much for such a prompt response to my submission. I was concerned about losing momentum during a long wait and you have completely solved that for me.

As indicated in my earlier message, I am endeavouring to edit my submission and to develop the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article that you mention in your response and to avoid 'puffery' promoting the subject. My first step has been to take the words 'and success' out of the first paragraph. Please can you let me know if I am on the right track.

I am also concerned to be using the citations in the correct and approved manner. Please could you highlight how I can improve this aspect of my draft?

Thanks for flagging up the issue with this image. I created the image by using my iPhone to photograph a hard copy original in a collection of old family photos. Judging by the age that the subject (my father) appears to be (same as the copyright free photo from University of New South Wales, I would estimate the date of the original would be 1951 or earlier. I therefor estimate that the photo from which I took the image uploaded to my Sandbox if at least 70 years old. I would have been five years old at the time (72 years ago) and I have no idea who would have taken the photo. I have tried both Google and TinEye but found no results. Please let me know if you have other resources available to broaden the search.

Thank you for this message and for your kind words. I am delighted with the progress this AfC is enjoying thanks to your guidance and help from the other editors who have given their time so constructively.

I will start work on the various issues flagged up including secondary and tertiary sources, the orphan status currently in place and linkage to ‘Who was Who’ hard copy and electronic versions. I have also been provided with further material from Lucideon which I will incorporate into the final part of the Career Section (British Ceramic Research Association).

Dear Nigel, Please accept my apologies for the delayed reply. I had looked in to the issue to the Penkhull photo copyright previously but wanted to double check to ensure that there are no misunderstandings and that you have the definitive answer to your query. I can confirm that the Penkhull photo was taken by a member of the company which means that Lucideon owns the copyright. As you know , Lucideon has given you permission to use the photograph with attribution. Perhaps you just need to add to the photo: ‘Copyright Lucideon. Used with permission from Lucideon’. I see that the photo has been removed from the page and I assume that this is connected with the enquiry. As to the point about relying too much on primary sources, in the world of research , primary sources are excellent and the source of original data. I think that because of the way that Wikipedia works, they like to have corroboration from other sources . I hope this helps. It’s great to see your project come to fruition and to see your father’s achievements collated. We still come across , and refer to, his work and it’s so nice to now know more about him.
