Happy editing! GalStar (talk) (contribs) 02:07, 7 July 2025 (UTC)

Thanks so much for this! I am very slowly getting the hang of it and really learning from so many editors around me. Although it is way more difficult and nuanced than I had counted on, it's also incredibly fascinating and exciting. I look forward to all the learning and growing to come. National varieties of English

Information icon Hello. In a recent edit to the page Kim Seon-ho, you changed one or more words or styles from one national variety of English to another. Because Wikipedia has readers from all over the world, our policy is to respect national varieties of English in Wikipedia articles.

For a subject exclusively related to the United Kingdom (for example, a famous British person), use British English. For something related to the United States in the same way, use American English. For something related to another English-speaking country, such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, India, or Pakistan, use the variety of English used there. For an international topic, use the form of English that the first author of the article used.

In view of that, please don't change articles from one version of English to another, even if you don't normally use the version in which the article is written. Respect other people's versions of English. They, in turn, should respect yours. Other general guidelines on how Wikipedia articles are written can be found in the Manual of Style. If you have any questions about this, you can ask me on my talk page or visit the help desk. Thank you. RachelTensions (talk) 18:13, 16 September 2025 (UTC)

Thank you rachel I really appreciate you telling me! I super appreciate that feedback. Do I need to revert them all back or is it done (still a fairly new editor here). And when that happens will my other edits be effected. Full disclosure, I'm canadian and let my ego get in the way lol (we spell in theatre). NJNPer (talk) 18:18, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
I've been meaning to do a careful copy edit of Seonho's page for a while and finally have the time, so again thanks for your guidance. NJNPer (talk) 18:19, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
Oh, quick question, I always add 'th''st' etc to numbers when I edit (1st, 2nd, etc)- is this also a mistake regarding the National Varieties of English, should I leave that be as well? NJNPer (talk) 18:23, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
@RachelTensions sorry, realized I hadn't tagged you and wanted to make sure you saw the above. NJNPer (talk) 18:49, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
And never mind, I read through DATEVAR and saw that I should not change that either - I will go back and change them all. Relieved that I know about all of this now, thanks again. NJNPer (talk) 18:52, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
Hi there, the guideline for ordinals is at MOS:ORDINALS, and specifically for dates at MOS:DATESNO. In general, "Xth" should not be used for dates.
I've already reverted the changes on Kim Seon-ho's article, don't worry about it. RachelTensions (talk) 18:53, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
@RachelTensions Thanks so much! I caught one I had editted a few months ago "8th" so changed it back. Also would like to thank you for all the work you've been doing dealing with the sockpuppet issues on this page and others. You are making wiki feel safer for all of us editors and why I felt comfortable doing a copy edit on this page after a long while. NJNPer (talk) 18:58, 16 September 2025 (UTC)
