Scholarship and conference information

Hello Nadzik, and thanks for your response on Wales' talk page. Some questions, and I'll ping Skdb since they initiated the discussion. You mention that 230 scholarships were given for the 2024 international conference. In American dollars, what was the exact (or close to exact) amount WMF allocated for those 230, and the amount allocated on the conference in total by WMF. Next, the North American Wikiconference, the total amount WMF spent on scholarships for the 2023 conference in Toronto and total amount allocated to organize and put on the conference. Thanks. I assume you read my comment at Skdb's talk page, and my advocation for upping the limit of funding for conferences and for other activities of Wikipedians.

The local North American, European, Asian, Indian Wikiconferences should also, at least in my view, include at least two evening banquets and speakers. For example, the Toronto conference could have had an official from the government (invitation to the Prime Minister and then working the way down to a major representative) to welcome and address the conference and talk about Wikipedia's effect on the nation. Many other ideas, but for now it would be beneficial to know the exact scholarship funding. Thanks again. Randy Kryn (talk) 13:10, 3 March 2024 (UTC)

User-rename concern

In , the new username is Mohammed Deif, and is therefore against Wikipedia:Username policy. The fact that the editor's entire edit history appears to be NPOV disruptive (to put it mildly) in Middle-East religious/geopolitics suggests this rename is just another part of their disruptive behavior. DMacks (talk) 14:32, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey @DMacks! I can return the user to the previous name, should I? If his behaviour is disruptive, could I ask you to block the user on en.wiki? I can also ask the stewards to block him globally if his actions will extend beyond this project. Nadzik (talk) 14:38, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
I think returning to the previous username is the best course for now. They are not yet at the point of being blocked on enwiki for their behavior here, and centralauth does not list any edits to any other projects. If they do remain at this new username, I would block them here for the username violation. DMacks (talk) 16:43, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
@DMacks, done; sorry for the trouble. Please let me know if I can be of more help. Nadzik (talk) 20:55, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
No worries, thank you for your prompt attention. DMacks (talk) 21:14, 28 May 2024 (UTC)

Sunday July 28 Strategic Wikimedia Affiliates Network meeting (Results of Movement Charter ratification)

SWANs gathering for a conversation

Hello everyone!

The Strategic Wikimedia Affiliates Network (SWAN) is a developing forum for all Wikimedia movement affiliates to share ideas about current developments in the Wikimedia Movement. It expands on the model of the All-Affiliates Brand Meeting to help lay some of the groundwork for further Wikimedia 2030 strategy process work.

At this meeting we will focus on the results of the Movement Charter ratification. We will also discuss the aftermath of the Board of Trustees' decision to veto the Movement Charter, including their recent proposals. We will also cover updates about upcoming Wikimania 2024.

This month, we are meeting on Sunday, July 28, and you are all invited to RSVP here.

UTC meeting times are and

Hello! I noticed you recently renamed this user to ... User:IPhone13. That seems like a clear violation of WP:PROMONAME, even though they are unlikely to be affiliated with Apple. InfiniteNexus (talk) 03:14, 19 August 2024 (UTC)

145k edits?

Macieju, why are you on your homepage reported that "I made 145k edits" that suggested enwiki edits if https://xtools.wmcloud.org/ec/en.wikipedia.org/Nadzik reported only 5,692 as total? Ency response? 19:23, 26 September 2024 (UTC)

Hey @Januszu! My userpage is a global one, so little of it is relevant to any single wiki. The 145k number refers to global number of edits across all Wikimedia projects as stated on the page – "I made 145k edits [...] to Wikimedia projects". Cheers! Nadzik (talk) 15:36, 27 September 2024 (UTC)
