Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that in this edit to Kalapahar, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Materialscientist (talk) 06:43, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

I had made a mistake my removal. But just a few hours back I could restore the old content that I had removed by mistake, and added some new content. Plz check if the new content that I added 1-2 hours back under the heading "Origins" could be brought back. Nathularog (talk) 07:33, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Introduction to contentious topics

You have recently edited a page related to India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Hello Nathularog, in reintroducing your edit to Daruma doll, you wrote in your edit summary that "someone unnecessary reverted by previous edit by labeling as copyright issue. It was not." Please note that, as linked in the edit summary of the removal, your edits here do constitute improper close paraphrasing that requires removal. We need to follow both the Wikipedia:Copyright violations policy, which requires us to delete revisions with text that infringes on copyright, and the Wikipedia:Plagiarism guideline. I suggest reviewing WP:CLOP#Example to see why that applies to the text you added to the article. You wrote: "According to legend, Bodhidharma meditated for nine years facing a wall at the Shaolin Temple, showing such steadfast devotion that his legs withered away. This act of spiritual endurance inspired the Daruma doll’s limbless design." The original says "Legend has it that Bodhidharma spent nine years in meditation facing a wall at the Shaolin Temple in China, demonstrating such unwavering determination that his legs atrophied from lack of use. This extraordinary display of persistence and spiritual dedication became the inspiration for the Daruma doll’s armless, legless form." Although you added a citation showing the source, the structure of the cited sentences was basically intact, with only a few words changed to synonyms. In fact, the use of the curly apostrophe indicates that the text was originally copied and pasted. Removal of this sort of text requires work from other editors; please use your own words when adding material to articles, or use direct quotations where appropriate. Because this involves the copyright policy, repeated problems may result in restrictions on editing, so please familiarize yourself with the relevant policy and guidelines. Note that there is a similar problem at Non-cooperation movement (1919–1922), where in this edit you slightly altered a quote from "In India’s Struggle for Independence, historian Bipan Chandra recounted an episode from 1921, when Gandhi was addressing a student gathering in Madurai. Some students complained that khadi was too expensive, Chandra wrote. Gandhi replied that the answer lay not in wearing foreign clothes but wearing fewer clothes, and announced that he was discarding the dhoti and kurta and would now wear only a “langot (loin cloth)”." to "In India’s Struggle for Independence, historian Bipan Chandra recounted an episode from 1921, when students in Madurai complained khadi was costly, Gandhi shed even the kurta and dhoti, donning only a langot(loincloth) as he felt that the answer to the problem lay not in wearing foreign clothes, but wearing less clothes." Many of the sources you are using in other edits are behind paywalls for me, so I cannot see if this is a widespread issue. Basically, these edits reflect the reproduction of creative elements from the originals, which makes them unsuitable for inclusion in articles. Please review your recent edits to make sure there are not additional instances of these things. Are there a large number of these sorts of edits? Dekimasuよ! 19:24, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
Or at Charter Act 1813, we have you writing "Napoleon’s Berlin Decree of 1806 and the Milan Decree of 1807 barred British goods from entering European states allied with or dependent on France, thereby establishing the Continental System across Europe. Facing these restrictions, British traders pressed for the dissolution of the East India Company’s trade monopoly and sought greater access to Asian markets" when the original had "Napoleon Bonaparte’s Berlin Decree of 1806 and the Milan Decree of 1807 forbade the entry of British commodities into European nations that were allies or reliant on France respectively and created the Continental System throughout Europe. Due to these challenges, British traders urged that the East India Company’s monopoly be broken as well as admittance to Asian ports." A serious question: do you understand why this sort of writing is a problem? Dekimasuよ! 19:32, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
