Although some prefer welcoming newcomers with cookies, I find fruit to be a healthier alternative.

Why can't I edit some particular pages?
Some pages that have been vandalized repeatedly are semi-protected, meaning that editing by new or unregistered users is prohibited through technical measures. If you have an account that is four days old and has made at least 10 edits, then you can bypass semi-protection and edit any semi-protected page. Some pages, such as highly visible templates, are fully-protected, meaning that only administrators can edit them. If this is not the case, you may have been blocked or your IP address caught up in a range block.
Where can I experiment with editing Wikipedia?
Use the main sandbox or create your own personal sandbox to experiment.
How do I create an article?
See how to create your first article, then use the Article Wizard to create one, and add references to the article as explained below.
How do I create citations?
  1. Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
  2. Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
  3. In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
  4. Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
  5. Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like <ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>, copy the whole thing).
  6. In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
  7. If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References==
{{Reflist}}
What is a WikiProject, and how do I join one?
A WikiProject is a group of editors that are interested in improving the coverage of certain topics on Wikipedia. (See this page for a complete list of WikiProjects.) If you would like to help, add your username to the list that is on the bottom of the WikiProject page.

Information icon Hello, I'm EducatedRedneck. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, Aircraft in fiction, but you didn't provide a reliable source. On Wikipedia, it's important that article content be verifiable. If you'd like to resubmit your change with a citation, your edit is archived in the page history. If you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Note that, per the sidebar in that article, the significance of an aircraft has be to discussed in detail in order to be included in that list. EducatedRedneck (talk) 15:51, 30 December 2025 (UTC)

Thanks. I submitted it again with a proper note.👍 Neiyenz (talk) 15:59, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
I think you may be confused by what's required. Please read the hyperlink above "with a citation". Also, please read the sidebar for that article that appears when you try to edit. In particular, the last two bullet points which read:
  • The aircraft must have a significant role in the work and not simply be seen. Appearances in games are considered non-notable except for notable games dedicated to the specific aircraft.
  • Third-party references are needed to show the notability of the appearance. Primary references, such as the book, game or movie itself, are not sufficient for inclusion.
If you have any questions about how to source something or what constitutes a reliable source, feel free to ping me with {{ping|EducatedRedneck}} and sign your message with four tildes like so: ~~~~. You can also ask on the page's talk page.
Thanks, EducatedRedneck (talk) 16:04, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
😅Sorry. I fixed the reference. Btw, the mention is significant. Neiyenz (talk) 16:10, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
The helicopter had three gunners each which gave suppressive fire that laid waste 20 tangos in the street. Without this assistance the assets would not have made it out alive. Neiyenz (talk) 16:11, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
"Significant" doesn't mean "it played a role". By that metric, Air plays a significant role in every work of fiction, and having Air appear on every list is clearly preposterous. In Wikipedia, "significance" means something different, such as "Do reliable, secondary sources discuss it?" Please, before editing further, read the links I've provided. They explain all this better than I can, and people have been blocked for failing to follow those guidelines. You just started your wiki-career; blocking you would be a loss to Wikipedia. EducatedRedneck (talk) 16:18, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
It all felt like such a futile exercise, writing and scratching my head as to why it keeps getting taken off. I think I'll look into guidelines more before I post again. Saves time and energy for all of us that way. Thanks for taking the time for this. Neiyenz (talk) 16:52, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
Stop icon Your recent editing history at Aircraft in fiction shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. This means that you are repeatedly changing a page's content back to how you believe it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree with your changes. Please stop editing the page and use the talk page to work toward creating a version of the page that represents consensus among the editors involved. Wikipedia provides a page explaining how this is accomplished. If discussions reach an impasse, you can request help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution such as a third opinion. In some cases, you may wish to request page protection while a discussion to resolve the dispute is ongoing.

If you continue edit warring, you may be blocked from editing Wikipediaespecially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's workwhether in whole or in part, or whether it involves the same or different material each timecounts as a revert. Also, please keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warringeven if you do not violate the three-revert rule if things indicate that you intend to continue reverting content on the page.
Slow down. Talk out the edit you want to make first. Get it right, then add it to the article. What you added was sourced to Fandom, which is not a WP:RS. Please read that link to learn what Wikipedia means by a "reliable" or "significant" source. EducatedRedneck (talk) 16:10, 30 December 2025 (UTC)
