Disambiguation link notification for February 8
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 1902 California gubernatorial election, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Republican Party. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

1898 California gubernatorial election
Hello again! I was wondering: do you have plans to overhaul the page for the 1898 California gubernatorial election the way you have for 1902, 1906, 1910, etc.? I ask because I took it upon myself to overhaul James G. Maguire's page and in the process of doing so found some interesting information on the election and a *lot* of cool pictures and caricatures. PequodOnStationAtLZ (talk) 20:16, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- Thank you for the message @PequodOnStationAtLZ I wasn't planning on it, but I definitely could get started on it! Feel free to add whatever information you find to the page now and I can incorporate it into what I write later. The main reason I stopped editing the election pages was because the California Digital Newspaper Collection was de-funded and their website was pretty unstable. That of course is my main source of research, but i'll see what I can do to navigate around that. All the best, NewishIdeas (talk) 20:40, 19 October 2025 (UTC)
- Sounds good! I added what I had on Maguire plus a bit on Gage. If the California Digital Newspaper Collection doesn't work, I highly recommend Chronicling America at the Library of Congress. They've got newspapers like the SF Call that are pretty useful here. I also use Newspapers.com for free with the Wikipedia Library. I held off on adding any pictures for now, but most related to the election are under Maguire's Commons page and caricature subpage. PequodOnStationAtLZ (talk) 06:34, 20 October 2025 (UTC)

Deletion discussion about Ricardo Chavez Ortiz
Hello NewishIdeas, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.
While your contributions are appreciated, I wanted to let you know that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, Ricardo Chavez Ortiz, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Ricardo Chavez Ortiz.
Deletion discussions usually run for seven days and are not votes. Our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. The most common issue in these discussions is notability, but it's not the only aspect that may be discussed; read the nomination and any other comments carefully before you contribute to the discussion. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.
If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|JohnMizuki}}. And don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
