Question from Blackmarkman on Russell Gordon (09:08, 6 January 2025)

How can I earn money? Someone help me. --Blackmarkman (talk) 09:08, 6 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello, Blackmarkman! I’m not sure if you’re asking about on Wikipedia or in general, but either way I can’t help you. Wikipedia editors are generally volunteers and don’t get paid for their work. More generally, I’m afraid I’m not qualified to give career advice. Either way, if you have any questions about editing Wikipedia, feel free to stop by again and ask! Question from Perwani on User talk:Perwani (04:44, 30 January 2025)

Hello I need your help to update my account , to best of my knowledge I did , but you deleted it , as it was a fact mentioned , however I need your guidance to update Thanku --Perwani (talk) 04:44, 30 January 2025 (UTC)

Hello, Perwani! I'll do my best to help out. Just to give you fair warning, my schedule is pretty busy right now and this message is probably going to get a little long, so bear with me, and feel free to ask for anything you have questions about! If you have a question you think is urgent, you can also try the Teahouse question forum if I'm away.
Wikipedia is an encyclopedia. You might be familiar with Encyclopedia Britannica  Wikipedia works in a similar way. It's not like LinkedIn, social media, or blogs; it doesn't have profiles, just articles. All of what it says about people should follow specific policies of sourcing, neutrality, tone, and weight. If you are closely connected with or, harder still, are, the subject of an article, it's incredibly difficult to follow all the policies for encyclopedic writing because we humans in general just don't tend to write that way about ourselves.
The result of all this is that Wikipedia asks article subjects and those who have a connection with article subjects to not write the articles  because they won't be encyclopedic, which is the point of Wikipedia. You can read more about that guideline, called conflict of interest, here.
The good news is there's still some things you can do to help update your article  you just shouldn't do them directly. All articles have (or have space for) a talk page, where discussion about improving the article takes place. In this case, the talk page is Talk:Sanjay Perwani. One of the most useful things you can do there is to use a Conflict of Interest (COI) edit request including sources for your changes, like so:
{{edit COI}}
  • Specific text to be added or removed: ADD TEXT HERE
  • Reason for the change: ADD TEXT HERE
  • References supporting change: ADD URL AT LEAST
~~~~
That's probably the fastest way to get things changed: add what you think it should say, why, and most importantly, a good source for the changes. (This helps ensure verifiability, which is one of the things that makes this encyclopedia an encyclopedia.) For pretty simple stuff like adding terms to the article, providing a source that mentions it is probably all you need to do for that. As a matter of fact, much of the content you added should be okay if written in an encyclopedic tone and backed up by sources. The parts about your family are a bit less relevant for your article based on the English Wikipedia's style, though.
To summarize, you should read the conflict of interest guideline and follow its steps, then put your changes on the article talk page with the {{edit COI}} template and a source. You shouldn't edit the article directly because writing about yourself Wikipedia-style is difficult. (Side note: one thing you can do easier than many is to provide a photo, although there are some specific requirements for that, so ask away if you're interested.)
Please let me know if you have any questions, and happy editing! Best, Perfect4th (talk) 06:44, 30 January 2025 (UTC)
Question from Infiniti groom concepts (07:08, 4 February 2025)
How do I create an article for my business --Infiniti groom concepts (talk) 07:08, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Infiniti groom concepts, and welcome! I'm afraid the best answer to that is that you shouldn't. Wikipedia's job is to have articles on subjects that have been significantly covered in independent reliable sources; once that hurdle has been cleared, they then are supposed to neutrally say what reliable sources have said about the subject, and not what the subject says about themselves. As a result, such an outcome is not necessarily a good thing for your business as you'll have no control over what it says. It's very, very difficult for a business owner or employee to create an article about their business that conforms to Wikipedia's standards.
If you want to try anyway, which I recommend you don't, you should read the conflict of interest guideline and note that you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use to disclose that you are a paid editor. Then you can create a draft via the Articles for Creation process and submit it for review.
Sorry to be so discouraging about this, but the reason there are so many rules is that Wikipedia isn't designed to be an advertising service and doing so is contrary to the purpose of the encyclopedia. If you have any other questions about editing, feel free to let me know! Perfect4th (talk) 16:48, 4 February 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Reggie2050! I don't have much familiarity with AMinstLM or the British army, so I'm afraid I don't understand your question. Could you rephrase what you mean by "Does this still stand"?
Question from Mizuki The Kittypet (18:52, 13 March 2025)
Hi! do you have any tips about writing an article? --Mizuki The Kittypet (talk) 18:52, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Mizuki The Kittypet! Honestly, my best tip, for right now at least, is to wait and practice by editing other articles. Creating a Wikipedia article is pretty complicated and involves following a lot of internal policies and guidelines that newer editors aren't familiar with, so it's usually recommended that editors start with easier edits to get used to editing Wikipedia (you can check out your suggested edits on your homepage if you like). Once you're a little more familiar with Wikipedia processes and the policies (including the very important concept of notability as Wikipedia defines it) to follow for an article, check out the Articles for Creation process and it can walk you through creating and submitting one. You can also check out the article Your First Article for more information. Let me know if you have any other questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 19:16, 13 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from PConductor279 (23:56, 18 March 2025)
Hello, how do I do a tab for a person’s biography? How I structure the articles? --PConductor279 (talk) 23:56, 18 March 2025 (UTC)
Hello, PConductor279, and welcome! Creating an article on Wikipedia as a newcomer is difficult  it's like trying to run a half marathon on your first day of training. You have to meet two minimums: first, the subject has to be notable by Wikipedia's definition (the specific guideline for people is here), and the article should be based on reliable, independent, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Second, you have to follow the biographies of living people policy, which says that any challengeable claim about a person must be backed up by a reference.
I would suggest you try other, easier edits first to get more familiar with Wikipedia and its policies and guidelines before embarking on an article. You can find edits to make via your homepage, at the Task Center, or by exploring various Wikiprojects  let me know if you have any more questions on this. If you still want to try for an article, make sure to read and follow Your First Article  it should give you what you need to get started. You can go through the Articles for Creation process for further article creation guidance. Hope this helps, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 14:51, 19 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Thesillyrat (22:45, 28 March 2025)
Hello! I just have a simple question I wanted to figure out. So, when you're on a page and wanted to edit something on it, how do I do that page? You probably already know that I just started the account and doing some minor editing so I am still learning stuff here. Thanks! --Thesillyrat (talk) 22:45, 28 March 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Thesillyrat, and welcome to Wikipedia! When you're on a page, there should be an "Edit" tab in the top next to "Read". You can read more about editing interfaces at the Editing help article. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 05:34, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for responding! Yet for some reason when I go by read, the edit tab is no where to be seen, but, I can edit only when it says ¨edit source¨. Thesillyrat (talk) 13:42, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
Yet for some articles instead of it saying edit source (which is probably just edit I believe) it says View Source (Like for example, Warriors (novel series) for me shows View Source instead of Edit or Edit Source) Thesillyrat (talk) 14:17, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
Nevermind sorry I figured out why I cant edit pages like that- but thanks for the answer before :] Thesillyrat (talk) 15:33, 29 March 2025 (UTC)
Question from Ktonia (16:43, 5 April 2025)
Hi mentor :) I've just completely edited a Numen/ For use page on Croatian Wikipedia and I've noticed that this edit wasn't added to a total number of my edits. As I am currently trying to gain experience to be able to create a page in the near future, the number of completed edits is pretty important to me so I wanted to check with you whether stuff I do on Croatian hr.wikipedia counts or not? Also - I would like to change the name of the page I edited from just Numen to Numen/For use (which is actually correct) but I don't see the option to edit the page title? Thanks, Ktonia --Ktonia (talk) 16:43, 5 April 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Ktonia! Apologies for the delay in response; I've had a bit of a busy weekend. Yes, each individual language Wikipedia (or other Wikimedia project) is its own project  en.wiki has different rules from hr.wiki which is different from de.wiki and so on and so forth. English Wikipedia's 4 days/10 edits requirement for creating articles is based on edits here on this language Wikipedia, so you'll be past that threshold with a few more edits and a little more time. I'd caution, though, that the limit exists because it takes time to learn the policies, guidelines, and best practices for creating an article here, so it will be easier for you if you practice editing existing articles before you create a new one. Unfortunately I'm unfamiliar with Croatian so I don't think I'll be able to help you with changing the page title there  best I can do is point you to Help:Move, which is how it's done here.
Hope this helps, and feel free to stop by with any more questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 03:21, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Question from Leonid.Zolotarev (23:25, 6 April 2025)
Hi!
I’m working on getting this Wikipedia article published: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:United_States_Prestige_Proof_Sets. It’s been declined a few times with a standard response about insufficient referencing. I’ve since added more sources, and I’d really appreciate your help reviewing the reference coverage to see if it now meets the notability and sourcing standards.
Thanks so much! --Leonid.Zolotarev (talk) 23:25, 6 April 2025 (UTC)
Hi Leonid.Zolotarev, unfortunately I've had a pretty busy weekend and I don't have the time to look in-depth right now. One thing you can do is check your sources with the Source assess template to check what criteria they fulfill for notability (I did skim the sources but can't currently look more deeply for reliability). You can also ask at the Teahouse about advice in general or the reliable sources noticeboard for source reliability specifically. I'll try to look more when I have more time but didn't want to leave you without an answer for too long  hope some of those resources help you get a headstart, and feel free to stop by if you have any other specific questions and I'll try to answer them! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 03:21, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Question from Alec Cazas (17:30, 7 April 2025)
Hi. I signed up today to publish an article about who I am and what I do. But I don't seem to be able to find my page yet. Could you please help me to do it?
Many thanks --Alec Cazas (talk) 17:30, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Alec Cazas, welcome, and, uh, don't do that. Creating an article on Wikipedia as a newcomer is difficult  it's like trying to run a half marathon on your first day of training. Creating one about yourself is harder still. Before you look at how, though, you should read An article about yourself isn't necessarily a good thing and realize that such an article cannot promote you  it must be neutral, like an encyclopedia entry. In fact, Wikipedia strongly discourages writing about yourself for the reasons explained below, though we do maintain a section on alternative outlets and a directory of such.
If you still want to create an article, you have to meet two minimums: first, the subject has to be notable by Wikipedia's definition (the specific guideline for people is here), and the article should be based on reliable, independent, published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. Second, you have to follow the biographies of living people policy, which says that any challengeable claim about a person must be backed up by a reference. If you were to write about yourself, you would have to forget everything you know about you and write just what the sources say  quite difficult to do about oneself. You also need to declare your conflict of interest and submit it as a draft through the articles for creation process. In short, it's unlikely to work out or to work out well. You are always welcome to improve existing articles unrelated to you though!
There's much more to know that goes into creating an article, this is a lot to start with, so feel free to let me know if you have any more editing questions and happy editing ~ Perfect4th (talk) 22:24, 7 April 2025 (UTC)
Question from SirPenguin25 (09:46, 20 May 2025)
Is english.radio.cz considered a reliable source?
Thanks! --SirPenguin25 (talk) 09:46, 20 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi, SirPenguin25! Welcome to Wikipedia! Sorry for my delayed response; I've been travelling and forgot to set my status to away while I was gone. The general idea of evaluating source reliability involves looking at each component of whether it is an independent, published source... with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy. When you're looking at a source, what does it tell you about its independence or its processes for ensuring accuracy? It's important to remember reliability is a scale, too, not just a black-and-white categorization. You can also ask about a source on the reliable sources noticeboard if you ever have any questions.
For this specific source, I also looked through previous discussions on Wikipedia and what I saw seemed to indicate it was generally accepted as reliable; the news organizations section of the reliable sources guideline says well-established news outlets is generally considered to be reliable for statements of fact  I'm not personally familiar with that source, so I can't speak to how well-established it is, but those signs are generally good.
Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 22:12, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from LanternTail (17:13, 21 May 2025)
Hello there! I would like to ask, when can or should sic be used?
I've found a spelling mistake on page Gregory_Kelly_(actor), but the error is in a quotebox template - When it's in a quotebox does it still need sic or is it obvious that it's taken from elsewhere and sic is not needed? --LanternTail (talk) 17:13, 21 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello, LanternTail, and welcome! So sorry for the delay in responding  I was travelling and forgot to set myself away until I could log back in. Wikipedia has a template for adding sic to quotes, but according to the Manual of Style minor spelling errors don't have to be replicated and can be simply fixed. You can see the full guideline at the original wording section of the Manual of Style. Hope this helps, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 22:12, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Question from Mindfold24 (22:08, 23 May 2025)
Hello! I see that you are my mentor. I wanted to ask you how specific I should be in the explanation of my edits? --Mindfold24 (talk) 22:08, 23 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Mindfold24, and welcome! Sorry for the delay  I was travelling. I'm assuming you are referring to edit summaries. The answer is that it depends  what are you doing in the edit? If you're fixing a typo or a grammar mistake, very little explanation is usually expected. "Typo" or "grammar" is usually sufficient (and some editors just use abbreviations like "sp" or "ce". Here's a list of some common edit summary abbreviations in case it helps). For more substantial changes, though, a sentence or two explanation is helpful, especially for controversial changes, as this helps other editors understand your thought process. One issue you may unfortunately run into is that some editors don't always realize edits from new accounts are trying to help if they don't contain an edit summary because vandals often don't use edit summaries. In summary, the more substantial your changes, the better it is to have a more thorough summary, though a couple sentences is usually enough. I'm outing myself as more of a "gnomish" (editor that tend to make more maintenance/minor edits instead of more major edits) editor, but here's some edits I've made, from less to more substance, in case that helps:
  • fixing a link & punctuation: "ce"
  • removing a section: "long list of locations is not necessary to understand the material, removing and condensing remaining single-sentence paragraphs into one"
  • changing a fact that had been in an article for a while: "ce & update: ref says [fact which was incorrect in the article], add Dallas Seavey breaking record to end of lead (which described only Mitch Seavey's record in 2017) to match infobox, adding the same to records & awards" (the fact wasn't supported by the source behind it)
This was probably more information than you were wanting, but let me know if you have any more questions, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 22:12, 27 May 2025 (UTC)
Hello! Thank you very much for the detailed response. This helps a lot. Mindfold24 (talk) 18:22, 3 June 2025 (UTC)
Question from Allanwjanssen (20:18, 31 May 2025)
I wrote an article on biopanentheism in the sandbox, now, how do I publish it? --Allanwjanssen (talk) 20:18, 31 May 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Allanwjanssen, and welcome! Articles on Wikipedia should demonstrate notability as Wikipedia defines it  they need to have multiple published, reliable sources discussing the subject. Just to prepare you: that is not always possible for some article subjects. Articles also need to be written neutrally. If you are connected to the subject, you might have a conflict of interest that should be disclosed, as it makes writing neutrally difficult. If notability can be and is established and once other content policies such as neutrality are followed, you can submit your article through the Articles for Creation draft process (as I see you have already tried a hand at), where it can then become a published article. This is a pretty high-level overview, so feel free to ask about any questions you may have, and happy editing ~ Perfect4th (talk) 03:14, 8 June 2025 (UTC)
Question from Virsagisces (00:58, 1 June 2025)
If I remove trolling from a page, how can I make sure an admin can see that I did that so said person doesn’t do it again? --Virsagisces (talk) 00:58, 1 June 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Virsagisces, and welcome! You can report especially bad vandalism at the administrators' intervention against vandalism board, but the most common practice is to warn trolls for vandalism edits with escalating User warning templates so that they have a chance to stop and a warning before being reported to that board (often abbreviated "AIV". This usually takes the form of escalating through warning template 1, then 2, 3, 4, and then reporting to AIV, where an admin can take further action as necessary. Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates
Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates
The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Candidates.
Here is the schedule:
  • July 9–15 - Call for candidates
  • July 18–22 - Discussion phase
  • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase
Please note the following:
  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
  • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.
Administrator Elections | Discussion phase
Administrator Elections | Discussion phase
The discussion phase of the July 2025 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
  • July 18–22 - Discussion phase (we are here)
  • July 23–29 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • July 30–c. Aug 3 - Scrutineering phase
We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/July 2025/Discussion phase.
On July 23, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must be extended confirmed to vote.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last approximately four days, or perhaps a little longer. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.
How to publish a sandbox entry
How do I publish a prepared article from my sandbox? JShields51 (talk) 10:57, 2 August 2025 (UTC)
Hi, JShields51! To publish directly, your account has to be at least 4 days and 10 edits old; however, you can add a template to put your sandbox through the Articles for Creation process now. I'd highly suggest doing that because AfC reviewers can help you identify how to improve your article before mainspace publishing as they're very familiar with Wikipedia policy. I've added the template to your sandbox for you, so you can hit "submit" when you're ready. I'll put some helpful links on your talk page, but I'd start with Your First Article  I'd especially take a look at reliable sources and notability as those are very important for article drafts.
There's a lot to keep track of when creating your first article, so please feel free to drop by again if you have any questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 02:23, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
Temporary account IP viewer granted
The temporary account IP viewer logo, composed of the Wikipedia globe with a user and an IP address
Hello, Perfect4th. Per your request, your account has been granted "checkuser-temporary-account". You are now able to reveal the IP addresses of individuals using temporary accounts that are not visible to the general public. This is very sensitive information that is only to be used to aid in anti-abuse workflows. Please take a moment to review Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer for more information on this user right. It is important to remember:
  • You must not share IP address data with someone who does not have the same access permissions unless disclosure is permissible as per guidelines listed at Foundation:Policy:Wikimedia Access to Temporary Account IP Addresses Policy.
  • Access should not be used for political control, to apply pressure on editors, or as a threat against another editor in a content dispute. There must be a valid reason to investigate a temporary user. Note that using multiple temporary accounts is not forbidden, so long as they are not used in violation of policies (for example, block or ban evasion).
It is also important to note that the following actions are logged for others to see:
  • When a user accepts the preference that enables or disables IP reveal for their account.
  • Revealing an IP address of a temporary account.
  • Listing the temporary accounts that are associated with an IP address or CIDR range.
Remember, even if a user is violating policy, avoid revealing personal information if possible. Use temporary account usernames rather than disclosing IP addresses directly, or give information such as same network/not same network or similar. If you do not want the user right anymore then please ask me or another administrator and it will be removed for you. Happy editing! Sohom (talk) 02:04, 3 August 2025 (UTC)
Thanks Sohom!
This is hardly a public page, but felt I should note somewhere for the record (since I forgot to include it earlier) that I have read Wikipedia:Temporary account IP viewer and the Foundation’s access policy and agree to abide by them. Perfect4th (talk) 13:56, 4 August 2025 (UTC)
Question from Ghostrider00 (18:59, 7 August 2025)
How do you adopt an article and do you get paid for editing articles just curious about that since someone told me that there have been people who have gotten paid for editing or creating. --Ghostrider00 (talk) 18:59, 7 August 2025 (UTC)
Hey there Ghostrider00, and welcome! I'm not sure what you mean by adopt an article  are you referring to focusing on a specific article or something else?
As to paid editing, most of us are volunteers and work on whatever we want. Paid editing is generally frowned upon because paid editors have a conflict of interest. They have to follow the policies explained at WP:PAID. Paid editors can have a hard time following our policies & guidelines, especially neutral point of view. There are also a few editors who try to scam people by claiming to create an article for money  I'd be pretty suspicious if someone claimed to me to create Wikipedia articles for money. So there are a few who are paid, but typically we tend to be volunteers  we edit because we enjoy doing so!
Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 16:36, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
Should I remove a template
Hi, I am Lutitium and you are my mentor so I have a question to you. There is this article named Kazachstania Weizmannii and it has a template that says that it may have to be rewritten to mach Wikipedia's policy, but I recently edited it and I want you to tell me should I remove the template.
bye Lutitium (talk) 13:06, 8 August 2025 (UTC)
Hi Lutitium! I've been a bit busy today so I haven't had time to look very thoroughly, but I did glance over it just now. The tone you rewrote in the lead (first paragraph) was definitely good! I would answer a couple more questions in the body just to give a little more context  was the yeast being shown to fight Candida albicans the same study by the Weizmann Institute of Science? Does it both fight and prevent, or is it the same thing worded slightly differently? Is there any further context in the sources that is proportional and would be good to mention in the article? I can also take a look later and edit a couple of things for encyclopedic tone too if that helps, and I can check over it again then. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 01:52, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
Thanks! This is really helpful and I will try to change what you said. I will be really grateful to you if you check it again and will you tell me that, should the template that says that it may have to be rewritten to mach Wikipedia's policy be removed after said edits?
Thanks again! Lutitium (talk) 05:06, 9 August 2025 (UTC)
I can definitely check, Lutitium, but you might find it even more helpful to check with Folkezoft, who added the template, if there are any specific concerns you can resolve :)
Question from Robertson909 on Palm branch (02:56, 12 August 2025)
Hi, I noticed two very reasonable examples were torn down and replaced with lower quality ones by an anonymous user. This is the most recent non-bot edit. I’d like to switch them back, is that alright? --Robertson909 (talk) 02:56, 12 August 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Robertson909! I assume you're talking about this edit? On Wikipedia, we often follow a process called Bold, Revert, Discuss when editing articles. This means that someone makes an edit (since we encourage editors to be bold and change stuff), someone else thinks it's not an improvement and reverts it, and then it gets discussed somewhere (this step is important, as it promotes collaboration rather than a back-and-forth of undoing edits). In this case, the IP who swapped out those images explained their reasons in their edit summary, but you can also discuss improvements on the article talk page. So in this case, feel free to undo the edits, but either explain your reasoning in your edit summary, leave a note on the talk page, or both! Let me know if you have any other questions, and happy editing ~ Perfect4th (talk) 02:34, 14 August 2025 (UTC)
About Mike Ozekhome
Hey Perfect4th, HC226 here. I'm writing this message because I am quite concerned with the current state of the page for Mike Ozekhome. It seems like an attempt to "promote" him and the wording used on some sections is questionable. I have been working to fix it and find references to support some of the broad statements made such as "Ozekhome has also played a pivotal role in advancing justice, democracy, and the rule of law in Nigeria." However, in the process I found that several of his awards and also one of his doctorates came from the International Biographical Centre, a scam organization that sells these kinds of certifications.
As you can see on Ozekhome's page, I added that as a attempt to remain neutral and provide truthful information to readers. However, I think this page may need to be completely rewritten or examined for more issues like this one. It seems that news articles have simply copied information from his website, further attempting to valitdate his own claims. An example is this article from DNL Legal and Style, a naerly identical copy of this one from his website.
Should the page be AfD'd since the sources for many claims are shady? Maybe it's better to just attempt to rewrite it using better sources? Please get back to me as soon as possible so I can begin working on it, thank you. HC226 (talk) 16:13, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
Hello, HC226! I’m afraid I will have no time this week to look into anything  I probably should have set myself 'away' as a mentor but forgot  so I won’t be able to help you with resolutions to this matter. That being said, I would suggest you ask for help either on the Teahouse (general help, geared towards newer editors) or the neutral point of view noticeboard (more point of view/neutrality focused), which should help you unravel this.
Thanks for the question, and sorry I couldn’t be more help! Let me know if you have any other or follow-up questions and I’ll try to pop in to answer what I can! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 18:21, 19 August 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Solhsport Afghanistan  did you have a question about editing Wikipedia? Perfect4th (talk) 20:30, 2 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from NicheSports (20:05, 4 September 2025)
Ahoy! Looking for a 2nd opinion on how I've handled a kind of dispute with an IP editor at Neeraj Chopra.
I recently copy-edited most of the article to fix grammar issues, remove non-encyclopedic language, remove duplicate information from the lead, and fix/align references with content. I did this in about 20 diffs. All of these diffs were then undone by an IP editor who claimed "Unnecessary mass removal by a user". Only 3 of my ~20 diffs involved any significant content removal, and 2 of those 3 were removing duplicate content from the lead. After waiting to see if anyone else who watches the page would revert their edit, I reverted their change here .
I then looked at the IP editor's other contributions to see if there were any issues and they seemed mostly fine except for this, which I think is quite problematic (NPOV and OR issues bordering on vandalism). I reverted that update and wrote to the IP editor on their talk page asking them to not make those types of edits again. I then reflected and thought I was being kind of bitey, so I went back to the Field Hockey article and manually restored some of the non-problematic copy-editing they had included with their problematic diff above. I also dropped them a less bitey note on their talk page letting them know I had restored a few edits.
Today, what I think is the same IP editor using a different IP address mass reverted my edits to the Neeraj Chopra article again . I reverted this and left a note on their talk page .
Do you have any feedback for me? Anything I did wrong? And what do you recommend I do if they mass revert me again on the Neeraj Chopra page? Thanks for the advice... this is my first time in a meaningful content dispute as an editor.--NicheSports (talk) 20:05, 4 September 2025 (UTC)
Hello, NicheSports, and sorry for the delay  thanks for your patience! I took a look at the article and your links. Some thoughts (with the caveat that I have not looked into this very deeply at this time):
I agree that a lot of the segments in the edits the IP removed should be relatively uncontroversial copy edits, and that much of the other removed content was largely unproportional. However, given that it was controversial, a common system used on Wikipedia for reversion cycles like this is Bold, Revert, Discuss. You made edits that the IP perceived as not an improvement; they reverted; then (after some reversions) you brought the conversation to the IP's talk page. That's a good first step, but I would suggest starting a conversation on the article talk page instead. That would mean not only that it's easier for the same person using different IPs to contribute to the conversation, but also that others involved with the article can weigh in  which can help build consensus for a solution to that issue.
Thus, my first suggestion/piece of feedback (especially if the IP reverts again) would be to make a section on the article talk page. A version of what you put on the IP's talk page, but modified to invite feedback from other editors, should work just fine. From there, depending on the input (or lack of it), you can come to a solution, or take it to our third-opinion process or other dispute resolution processes if you remain at an impasse. Just ensure that you're not edit warring, whatever else you do; repeatedly reversing contributions for any reason other than the explicit exceptions listed at WP:3RRNO, which this doesn't fall under, is not allowed on Wikipedia.
This is admittedly a kind of get-you-started response, not a full resolution, but hopefully it's helpful. Let me know if you have any other questions, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 18:15, 9 September 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for the advice. I thought it was fine as the user had stopped reverting content but they (or at least I think it is them) did it again today. I followed your advice and made a new section on the talk page - if no one weighs in within a few days, I will take this to the third-opinion process as you suggested.
There is another wrinkle here though which is that I think I am dealing with a user that is disruptively using many IP addresses, some of which have been subject to extensive blocks, including 223.178.208.5 which was the IP address that first reverted my updates.
Based on their shared history editing multiple articles (Neeraj Chopra, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain 4, 2025 World Boxing Championships) I think all of these IP addresses are being used by the same person, often disruptively:
Someone on the Neeraj Chopra talk page told me to take this to ANI but that feels a bit above me given the IP-hopping situation. If it was a single named user then ANI would be fine NicheSports (talk) 17:48, 17 September 2025 (UTC)
@HJ Mitchell, would you mind having a look at these other IPs (the ones just mentioned in the post above mine) to see if you might need to widen your rangeblock? If *208.0/24 is problematic, I imagine these nearby same-network ones are too. -- asilvering (talk) 03:15, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
@Asilvering @HJ Mitchell Can you look into the following as well? I'm pretty confident they are also the same user as above. 223.178.212.119, 223.178.213.94, 213.230.114.246 (disregard the last one - that one isn't) NicheSports (talk) 03:27, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
@Perfect4th @Asilvering @NicheSports I've extended the proxy block to the /22 and soft-blocked the /21 (Special:Contribs/223.178.208.0/21), which has a long history of disruptive editing. If that doesn't solve the problem but they're still using 223.178 IPs, it might be possible to widen the block. As for the IPv6s, it looks at a glance like this is the same person the partial block on the /22 is aimed at. It might be possible to add targets to the partial block but that's an enormous range so a sitewide block is probably out of the question. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 08:59, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
@HJ Mitchell @Asilvering Thanks a bunch. Can we add Neeraj Chopra to the partial block target for the IPv6 range? They are continuing to edit there today and keep mass reverting to a worse version of the article NicheSports (talk) 12:02, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
Sure, done. Can't guarantee they won't just move to another article but we tried. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:04, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
@HJ Mitchell thanks. Can we extend the partial block beyond September 29th though? Otherwise they are just going to come back to it. Agreed they will have onto something else (and they already have) but Neeraj Chopra is higher-importance than most of the articles they edit, which are otherwise mostly about niche sports even by my standards :) NicheSports (talk) 13:30, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
Looking at the block log for that range, I think that's reasonable. I've set it fir a year from today. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:37, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
NicheSports Moral of the story: Make friends with admins, they'll do all your work for you!
All jokes aside, I like to avoid ANI when possible myself, so I usually do just this. If you're running into disruption that rises above talk page level (not just content dispute but conduct) but you're not wanting to go to ANI just yet, find an admin who seems familiar with the area and ask them for suggestions. They usually have good advice since they're familiar with it (and might even take care of it for you if you're lucky, haha).
And thanks HJ Mitchell and asilvering, much appreciated! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 23:58, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from Finnxyz-official (11:01, 18 September 2025)
Hey! I want to make my own page on Wikipedia, can I already do that or do I need to make more edits before I can do that? --Finnxyz-official (talk) 11:01, 18 September 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Finnxyz-official, and welcome! Sorry I missed this yesterday! If you're referring to a userpage describing your activities as a Wikipedia editor, you are welcome to create that whenever you wish! If you're talking about an article, though, you should know that Wikipedia is not really designed for self-promotion. We have some policies & guidelines that govern articles; one of them is notability, which determines whether a particular subject should have an article at the current moment or not (basically, there must have been significant coverage in reliable sources). Writing about yourself also causes conflict of interest issues, so it's discouraged on Wikipedia.
I know I just threw a bunch of links at you, so let me know if you have any more questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 15:54, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from Septadad (15:15, 19 September 2025)
Hi! I'm copy editing a biographical article that has numerous excerpts from a single magazine feature. It cites the feature 25 times and appears to avoid quotations by lightly rephrasing most of the excerpts. Is this in line with Wikipedia standards? --Septadad (talk) 15:15, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Septadad! Based on your description, it doesn't sound like it is. I ought to be able to take a deeper look in a few hours  what article is it? Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 15:56, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
It's Carlos Frenk. I have made some changes to make it less editorial, and so that it inherits less language from the feature, but I'm not sure if I've hit the right balance for biographical articles. Septadad (talk) 16:29, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
Sorry, Septadad, I've found myself busier today than expected, so I don't have as much time to look into the specific details as I'd thought. I'd assume you're referring to the article from Scientific Computing World? From a quick history check the article certainly looks better than it did before you broke out the metaphorical scissors, so well done on that. I may have time to look more later, but until then I'll leave you with the paraphrasing explanation of the copyright policy it case it's helpful: Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Hope this helps, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 19:16, 19 September 2025 (UTC)
Hello IP editor! Did you have a question/comment? Perfect4th (talk) 16:13, 22 September 2025 (UTC)
How long does it take to get an article reviewed?
Hi! it's me, Lutitium again :D. My submissions only take about a day or two to be reviewed but this one(https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Draft:Night_vison_contact_lens&redirect=no%2F2) is taking weeks. Is that normal?
Anyways, thank you and bye :) Lutitium (talk) 11:59, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
Hi again Lutitium! Articles for Creation (AfC) drafts get reviewed whenever a reviewer gets to them, so there's no set time (the header at the top of the draft will give you a guesstimate based on the current total number of submitted drafts; looks like it's currently eight weeks). I can tell you, though, that the easy ones generally get picked off first  both the ones that are definitely good article candidates and the ones that are clearly not ready for Wikipedia. So if a draft is taking longer than a few days, it's likely to be a less clear-cut decision for the reviewer.
Some things you can do to make it easier for the reviewer and help get a quicker review:
  • Try to ensure that the sources that demonstrate your draft's notability are easy to find. You can use the {{Source assess table}} template to help assess your best sources; the links at the top explain more on each requirement. If you want to put it on your draft instead of just checking, use the {{Best sources}} template
  • Double-check your work against the Your First Article guidelines
  • Add any relevent WikiProjects so reviewers interested in the subject can find it easier; the header at the top of the draft explains how to do this
  • Your draft is very short at the moment  is there any further information in your reliable sources that you can summarize about the subject? Do be careful to make sure the content is proportional to the subject and not just a collection of trivia, but see if there's anything else relevant to the article you could add
If you want to get more specific draft advice, you can also visit the AFC Help Desk for advice from people closer to the reviewing process. Let me know if you have any more questions, and happy editing!
Whoops, my bad, fixing ping to Lutitium. Perfect4th (talk) 16:49, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from Spindella000 (14:47, 24 September 2025)
Hi, so nice to meet you! Any recommendations for edits to begin with? I am currently picking out the topics I am interested in. Any advice would be amazing! How do I access instructions for different templates? I'm kind of going in here blind so would really appreciate "how to" forums, etc. --Spindella000 (talk) 14:47, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Spindella000! Lovely to meet you as well! Wikipedia is pretty broad, so you can edit (pretty) much anything you'd like  it just depends what you're interested in! Your Homepage offers suggested edits based on topics, but you can also take a look at Wikiprojects, which are collections of Wikipedians interested in certain topics and resources they've collected about them. Many are inactive or semi-active, but they should still have some resources, and often a section of articles you can improve in that area as well. Or if you're more interested in a type of edit rather than a type of article, there's lots of those too! I find fixing typos and de-orphaning articles really satisfying, and adding references to unverified information is hugely helpful, but you can find other kinds as well at the Task Center. And for any and all newcomer questions you have, definitely visit the Teahouse, especially if I'm not around! There's a lot of hosts there who can answer pretty much any editing question you have.
As for templates, there's usually instruction pages associated with each one  if you search "Template:" followed by the template name (like Template:citation needed), you can find more information there.
I know that's a lot of information, so please feel free to ask any further questions you may have! I see you've already been welcomed by another Wikipedian, but I'll drop my mentor welcome on your talk page as well  it has a few more links you may find helpful. Welcome to Wikipedia, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 16:47, 24 September 2025 (UTC)
Fab! Thanks for the warm welcome. I just had want to triple check with you to make sure I’m grasping what “de-orphaning” is ~~
Is this when a Wikipedia page does not have any links featured on it? Or is an “Orphan” when a page is not linked onto any other Wikipedia pages? Or do both apply for orphaned pages?
Kinda viewing this like a spiderweb ! Lmk + thanks again! Spindella000 (talk) 17:59, 28 September 2025 (UTC)
Hello again Spindella000, and sorry for the delay! An orphan has not been linked to from other Wikipedia pages. It is kind of like a spiderweb, but every web should be linked to every other web; for an orphan, no strand from the general encyclopedia ever reaches its web. You should have a link in your Tools dropdown entitled "What links here"; this lists every link coming into a Wikipedia page. There will often be pages linked that begin with "Talk:" or "User:" or similar, but only pages in the article namespace (which have no prefix) count for that. So the goal is to add links to that article on other Wikipedia articles.
Just a quick note as well that not all articles can be de-orphaned, so good quality links are much better than a "See also" section link and similar  more info about that is on the main project page.
Glad you're getting deeper into Wikipedia, and do let me know if you have any further questions! I'll do my best to answer in a timely manner, but you can also always head by the Teahouse for a faster answer as well. Happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 18:16, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
No problem! I'm sure you're a busy bee. Ok, that makes sense & thanks for pointing out that "What links here" feature, very cool. I'll make sure to check out that Teahouse if I have future q's so that I'm not buggin' you all the time haha! Thanks again xoxo Spindella000 (talk) 17:37, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
Of course! And just to be clear, you're always very welcome to post here as well! I just want to make sure you're aware of the Teahouse, since sometimes I may be a bit delayed and I don't want you to have to wait too long. Happy editing to ya! Perfect4th (talk) 17:40, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
You are the sweetest, thankssss! Spindella000 (talk) 17:58, 2 October 2025 (UTC)
I am back! (if you are busy lmk and i can try teahouse!) I asked this on the Talk pg of a topic I'm interested in updating, but just in case......I thought I would ask my handy dandy mentor lol
Is there a Wiki page that lists all the source code for different tags? I've been using "visual" to make my edits, so the source editing is still a little too much for my brain. Spindella000 (talk) 22:26, 6 October 2025 (UTC)
Howdy Spindella000! I'm not sure what you mean by 'tags'  can you give an example? I know there's a cheatsheet (which links another, longer cheatsheet) and also a tutorial about the basics of WikiMarkup you can use, though, if that helps! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 03:30, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
Actually that was helpful! I meant more when there is a message at the top of a Wiki entry or section a la "more citations needed" or "needs update". Those kind of flags! Spindella000 (talk) 16:29, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
Oh, that makes sense, Spindella000! The exact text that should be used for those is listed on each template page, of which you can find a list at Wikipedia:Template index/Cleanup. So for example, if I go down to "Structure, formatting, and sections", I can see the {{sections}} template linked; clicking on that link shows you how that template is used in the "Usages" section. However, would it help to use Twinkle? It's a tool that you can enable in your preferences that makes it easier to use such templates; it'll give you dropdowns to add issues semi-automatically. Hope this helps, and let me know if you have any more questions! Perfect4th (talk) 17:55, 7 October 2025 (UTC)
thank you x1,000,000 !!!!!!! Spindella000 (talk) 16:42, 12 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi again!! (also if this needs to be a teahouse question, no worries) I was editing Nuro to help address a promo flag. I had some q's and left a discussion on the talk pg, but noticed there was a paid editing flag. This wasn't on the main pg, only on talk. I just want to make sure this isn't a special entry that only editors hired by Wikipedia can edit. Could you explain how paid editing works? I saw the provided WP:PAID link but am still confused because this appears to contradict the neutrality of Wiki. Just need some more clarity, thanks! Spindella000 (talk) 19:28, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
UGH I just edited Cruise and same thing !!!! I will just stop editing for the time being lol no rush though! Spindella000 (talk) 19:39, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
Heavens no, Spindella000, don't stop editing an article because someone else was paid to edit it. Wikipedia basically doesn't employ editors at all, and nobody ever owns article content  if you have the technical ability and the willingness to research and edit according to policies and guidelines you can edit whatever you want. We actually don't really like paid editing  paid editors have a harder time editing according to our policies and guidelines, because of conflicts of interest and the neutrality issue you mentioned and other similar things. That's why they have to follow all the many items outlined on WP:PAID; the talk page flag is just to let other editors know that the article content is more likely to be promotional because a paid editor edited it. Volunteers like us are more likely to be able to make article content line up with our P&Gs, so please go for it by all means! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 06:08, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
o !!! the more you know haha ok thanks for explaining that is....wild and I will do my best to keep removing promo where I see it tysm Spindella000 (talk) 13:46, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
Please do! The encyclopedia is much the better for it :) Perfect4th (talk) 16:09, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
Question from Planningvoice (07:04, 27 September 2025)
Hello! I have written an article on planning objections: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Planningvoice How do I get this to appear live if someone searches planning objections? Thank you! --Planningvoice (talk) 07:04, 27 September 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Planningvoice, and welcome. Currently your text is on your user page, which is a space Wikipedians generally use to talk about themselves and their work on Wikipedia. To put it into the article process, you should use your sandbox, where you can create your draft and submit it to the Articles for Creation process. This will get you started on details of getting it published as a full article. I should warn you, though, that writing a new article is one of the hardest things to do on Wikipedia. Newcomers generally have not had enough time to get familiar with content policies, so what you write when you get started is much less likely to fit in Wikipedia than what you can write once you have a handle on how it works. You can check out the Your First Article help page for more information about writing an article, and feel free to let me know if you have any more questions ~ Perfect4th (talk) 18:16, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from DEskribe (01:20, 29 September 2025)
HI! @Perfect4th I am not sure if I did this correctly, but I copied this stub into my sandbox and (I think) I left a message for you there in that process.. let me know if you get a separate alert than this message because I didn't see that comment on your talk page. Where do those messages go? it was about the improvements made and whether the work needed to be exhaustive or providing additional stats and citations was acceptable. Thanks! Here is the link to the sandbox: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:DEskribe/sandbox --DEskribe (talk) 01:20, 29 September 2025 (UTC)
Hi, DEskribe, nice to meet you, and sorry for the delay! It looks like there's one message on your sandbox talk page and one on the article talk page, and both pinged me successfully. It looks about like what you'll see from this message, as I'm pinging you too. I've unfortunately been pretty busy but will try to get to the substance of your questions later today! I'll also leave a few helpful links on your talk page. Glad to have you around, and let me know if you have any more questions! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 18:16, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
Question from Mindfold24 (01:48, 9 October 2025)
Hello! I hope you are doing well. I was trying to make some edits on the page for Fingerprinting however when I click edit a message comes up that says the following.
"This page is semi protected so that only auto confirmed users can edit. If you need help getting started with editing, please visit the Teahouse."
I was wondering what this means and if there is any way to still edit the page. --Mindfold24 (talk) 01:48, 9 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Mindfold24! To answer your question generally, article/page protection is a technical limitation preventing users without a certain benchmark or right from editing an article. Semi-protection is one of the most common and lightest forms; all you need to edit past it is an account with four days' tenure and ten edits (it's often just used to prevent run-of-the-mill vandalism). When articles are protected, you can usually make an edit request (here's an Edit Request Wizard tool you can use) on the talk page. All of this makes your case rather odd, because you are definitely autoconfirmed. Is it possible you were logged out of your account when you tried to edit? Question from Ayliminmn on Control Panel (Windows) (16:38, 11 October 2025)
Hesap nasıl çalarım --Ayliminmn (talk) 16:38, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Ayliminmn! I don't speak Turkish and Google Translate is pretty confused, but I'll do my best. If you're asking about how to ping users, you can do this by linking a user (such as with [[User:Example]] or a ping template like {{u|Example}}) and making sure your edit is signed. If you're clicking "Reply" this is done automatically; otherwise, add ~~~~ at the end of your message to sign it. Though I'll likely be more help with questions in English, feel free to drop by if you have any more questions and I'll do my best! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 23:17, 11 October 2025 (UTC)
Question from LacusClyne20 (02:40, 21 October 2025)
Hello Perfect4th,
Good day!
I’m reaching out to request help in reviewing and improving the article I created:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Filmocan_San_Miguel_Eskrima_International
It currently carries several maintenance tags, and I’d appreciate guidance or edits to address the following:
Promotional content – I’ve revised the tone to ensure neutrality and factual accuracy. If any sections still appear promotional, I welcome suggestions for further improvement.
Additional citations – I’m working on sourcing reliable references. If you can help identify or add citations to support key claims, that would be greatly appreciated.
Orphan status - I linked and referenced it to a related article.
If you have time to review the article or contribute edits, your support would be very helpful. Thank you in advance for your time and collaboration.
Best regards, LacusClyne20 --LacusClyne20 (talk) 02:40, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi, LacusClyne20. I took a brief look at the article; I might have time to go more in depth later, but here's what I noticed:
  • The article still has a heavily promotional tone. Phrases like This system continues to be taught to students today, preserving its practical and cultural significance, His interest in the art of self-defense deepened over time, and He was known to wake from sleep with new techniques in mind, which he would immediately practice and record on the back of a paper calendar are great for storytelling, but are not encyclopedic. If you've ever read an entry in Encyclopedia Britannica or the World Book, imagine that's what you're going for; it should be as neutrally-worded as possible. You can check out our tone guideline for the general principles, and Words to watch for some specific words to keep an eye out for.
  • The reference tag is quite correct. I think fell into the very common newcomer trap of writing this article backwards. Wikipedia articles should be a summary of what the sources say; they should not say something and then add a source that supports it or some of it. If a source says it, we summarize it; if a source does not, we don't say anything. Both the "The Life of Grandmaster Filemon “Momoy” dela Cuesta Cañete" and the "Successor: Panto Cañete Flores" are interesting to read, but they're not what Wikipedia is for; they'd belong better on a site with a different purpose. If it doesn't have a source, it shouldn't be said. Rewriting the article neutrally and purely from what the sources say is probably the single best thing you can do to help the article meet Wikipedia guidelines.
  • The orphan tag is a purely black-and-white single-link issue; since there is one incoming link from another article, it can be removed, and I have done so.
Let me know if you have any more questions, and happy editing ~ Perfect4th (talk) 06:29, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
Hello again Perfect4th,
Thank you for your detailed response and for providing all those helpful links. I truly appreciate the guidance. It’s clear that my usual writing style still needs some improvement to meet Wikipedia’s standards, but your assistance has been invaluable.
I have revised the article and removed information that lacked proper citations. If you have time, I would greatly appreciate it if you could review the updated version and share any suggestions for further improvement.
I am really enjoying and treating this experience as a challenge actually.
Thank you again for your support! LacusClyne20 (talk) 04:25, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
Hello again, LacusClyne20! I've taken another quick look. The additional citations are helpful, but it's still lacking some  for instance, the entire Organizational Development section is unsourced. In reading the article, it looks almost as if it's trying to be a biography of Filemon “Momoy” dela Cuesta Cañete (and partially Panto Cañete Flores) rather than focused on the organization. The tone is definitely much better but could still use some work; Wikipedia's tone is pretty impassionate. I couldn't find an exemplary article based on a quick search alone, but the lead (beginning paragraphs before the first section, so everything before 'Etymology' in this case) of Shooto is a good example of a good lead. It is a simple explanation; you're not trying to convince the reader of anything about the subject (its worth, whether it's beneficial, etc.), but simply inform them of the basic facts. Leads are especially good at this because they are meant to be a summary of the rest of the article. (In this case, the rest of the article is not as good an example of tone, and you should not take lessons from it on writing article bodies.)
I hope this helps, and happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 17:56, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
Question from Dinosaur and aviation enjoyer (22:43, 21 October 2025)
How can i find accurate sources for tropical cyclones? --Dinosaur and aviation enjoyer (talk) 22:43, 21 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Dinosaur and aviation enjoyer! The general guideline for reliable sources can be found at reliable sources  it explains the components that go into a source's reliability, so you can judge sources generally yourself. More specifically, tropical cyclones is one area of interest that has a WikiProject, which is a project put together by several editors interested in the topic area; many are inactive, but I believe the tropical cyclones one is at least semiactive. The nice thing about WikiProjects is that they often have a central repository of resources you can use, so I'd check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Tropical cyclones/Project resources first! Going to also ping HurricaneZeta in case he has any more help for you as he edits in that area. Happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 06:16, 22 October 2025 (UTC)
I have many questions
Hi its me Lutitium again! First, thanks for answering all my questions in such detail :D. I have multiple questions regarding some of my articles, they are-
1) It has been well over 2 months since i submitted my article 'night vision contact lence'(sorry but I'm having issues linking it right now) for review and it still is a draft.
2) my article's title has changed after grading
3)my article has drastically changed since i last cheked it
btw Kazachstania weizmannii is that article in questions 2 and 3 Thanks and Bye! Lutitium (talk) 07:15, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Lutitium, good to hear from you again!
  • Regarding Night vison contact lens, one thing you could try is working on some of the tone of the article  wording like Although it is a major breakthrough with huge applications is wording for someone reporting about it. It's Wikipedia's job to summarize the stuff people are reporting, so those kinds of claims should only be made if cited in reliable sources. I'm afraid I don't have much further advice for you beyond that of last time. The current wait time is listed as "2 months or more" and your draft has been in the queue for about five weeks, so I can't advise much more than patience.
  • As for Arxiozyma heterogenica/Kazachstania weizmannii's rename, it looks like Tyroxin did so stating that it was renamed. The other edits, meanwhile, are normal Wikipedia editing processes and largely standardized it with other taxonomic Wikipedia articles. That's a good thing! On Wikipedia we all work on improving all articles  nobody owns any particular articles, and everyone can work on improving them. Wikipedia worked exactly as it should here, and now the article you started is looking good and Wikipedia is the better for it. Thanks for your contributions!
Let me know if you have any more (or follow-up) questions, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 17:56, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
Thanks a lot again :D Lutitium (talk) 14:14, 24 October 2025 (UTC)
Question from Mtomg (11:14, 27 October 2025)
Hello. A year ago, I created a Wikipedia page titled "Genocide in Tigray", which I survived and witnessed. Recently, one Wikipedian suggested a title change from "Genocide in Tigray" to "Tigray Genocide", which I agreed to. However, when I attempt to move the page to "Tigray Genocide," it is not successful, and I am unsure why. Could you help, please? Here is the suggestion I got from a user:
Thanks in advance~
[Title Change - Tigray Genocide Hi, I have noticed a lot of articles on Genocide put the name genocide after the name of the group or the place, hence changing the Title of this article from "Genocide in Tigray" to "Tigray Genocide" falls within similar standards and norms, such us Rohingya genocide, Rwanda genocide, Gaza genocide, Armenian Genocide, etc. It will also make it easier to follow. I am contacting you because, you created the article, and it might be easier to change/move to new title from your side. It will also get easily found during searches. PCR Mafia (talk) 18:26, 23 October 2025 (UTC)
Thanks for contacting, and you are right. But I failed twice when I try to move it to "Tigray Genocide" for some unclear reason, which I don't know it exactly. Mtomg (talk) 09:32, 25 October 2025 (UTC)] --Mtomg (talk) 11:14, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi, Mtomg! That's odd. I'm assuming you're using the 'Move' dropdown  are you getting a specific error message? Perfect4th (talk) 03:32, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
You're right. When I try it, it says:
"The page could not be moved, for the following reason: The page could not be moved: a page of that name already exists, or the name you have chosen is not valid. Please choose another name, or use Requested moves to ask for the page to be moved. Do not manually move the article by copying and pasting it; the page history must be moved along with the article text."
When I check it now, I see the reason is I already used the title Tigray Genocide in the Infobox (| title = Tigray Genocide) and the main heading (The genocide in Tigray ) on the page. I'll fix it now. Thanks! Mtomg (talk) 04:16, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
Glad it helped! Feel free to stop by again if you need to rubber duck in the future, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 04:19, 28 October 2025 (UTC)
Please check my draft
Hi its me, Lutitium again :D I sent this draft of TOI-6034 b I did check it multiple times but Pleas will you check it to look for any mistakes. I really love this draft so I want it to become an article and are you German?
Bye :) Lutitium (talk) 11:29, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
Hi again, Lutitium! Sorry about the wait, I've had a busy weekend. I haven't dug in super deep yet, but I glanced at the references and I'm not yet seeing anything enough to establish notability by Wikipedia's standards. Notability is the guideline that determines whether or not Wikipedia should have an article on something, so it's the first thing you should look for before creating an article. Luckily, for this case, astronomical objects have their own notability guideline that you can check against, so you can evaluate your sources and subject against that. (Also, yup, I am part German!) Hope that helps, and let me know if you have any more questions. Happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 18:32, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
Hi! Thanks for going in such depth in the answer. I read both of the guidelines but I'm still having issues understanding what is notable or not. Lutitium (talk) 11:01, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
Hi Lutitium! I'm going to go general here, because the basic requirements for the general notability guideline is the same regardless of subject. The big idea is that you have to come towards an article from the sources first. You don't want to be writing one backwards! When you're looking for something to write an article about, see what sources you can find. You want to find things that are independent and not connected to the subject  no interviews or press releases or anything like that. You want them to be reliable  what can you tell about the fact-checking or research done in the source? For online resources, you can check their 'About' pages to see what you can find. The sources should also have spend time discussing the article subject, rather than just a couple of paragraphs or a passing mention.
These are some thoughts to help you get started, but the big idea here is that you need to identify reliable sources that help establish notability and be able to evaluate them. That comes easier with more time and Wikipedia experience, too. (That's why many editors at the Teahouse recommend that newcomers not start by creating articles but by editing existing ones.) Reliability is a scale, and if you have specific questions about certain sources, you can also ask about them on the reliable sources noticeboard. Let me know if you have any more questions/follow-ups, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 19:07, 4 November 2025 (UTC)
Question from BombshellCarousel (20:06, 31 October 2025)
Hello!! I'm pretty new to this, but I just wanted to ask if you have any tips or tricks for editing pages. Thanks. --BombshellCarousel (talk) 20:06, 31 October 2025 (UTC)
Hello, BombshellCarousel Sorry for the delay, I've had a busy weekend. The answer really depends on what you want to edit. Generally, you can check out Help:Editing for basic editing how-tos and info, and User:Chaotic Enby/Plain and simple guide to Wikipedia for general guidelines. There's also a couple of tutorials you can use (one for the visual editor and one for the source editor). There's so many things you could do, so if you have questions about something specific let me know and I'll try to help out with more tips for that! I'll also put a welcome on your talk page with more links. Happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 18:32, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
Question from Deep1019972025 on User talk:Deep1019972025/sandbox (11:41, 2 November 2025)
how do i know that my page is published --Deep1019972025 (talk) 11:41, 2 November 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Deep1019972025! Are you talking about User:Deep1019972025/Sample page? One avenue for publishing an article in mainspace is using the Articles for Creation process. Currently, though, I don't see notability in your draft article  Wikipedia looks for significant coverage from multiple secondary reliable sources, so you'll want to find sources that demonstrate that first. Let me know if you have any further questions, and happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 18:32, 3 November 2025 (UTC)
Question from YelramI (00:52, 7 November 2025)
Hello, I’m trying to get this article published but I can’t seem to figure out the next step. It had been rejected originally and I simplified it since. --YelramI (talk) 00:52, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
Hello and welcome, YelramI! I added back the last submission decline template, which should give you an option to resubmit the article when you're ready. I'd suggest editing it some more though  specifically, you'll want to make sure your references show notability. On Wikipedia, articles  especially those about people  should be based on several reliable sources that are not connected to the subject and have significant coverage of the subject. That's a pretty brief overview, so do let me know if you have any more questions, and happy editing! Perfect4th (talk) 01:23, 7 November 2025 (UTC)
ArbCom 2025 Elections voter message
Hello! Voting in the 2025 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 1 December 2025. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2025 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:53, 18 November 2025 (UTC)
Question from MessyCreative (13:38, 19 November 2025)
Hello. Im working on a draft and it says the page redirects from another page. I'm not sure how to remove that. --MessyCreative (talk) 13:38, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
Hello, MessyCreative! I'm guessing you're talking about the warning at the top of Draft:ISBM. I wouldn't be concerned about that  it's just to inform reviewers that currently, in the article space, the term 'ISBM' redirects to something else. Should your article be published and a more-used meaning for the term, it can usurp the title; or you can get around the whole problem later by simply disambiguating your draft to 'ISBM (research organization)' or something like that. Regardless, it's not something you have to fix now, and would be easy to do once the draft is ready to publish. Let me know if you have any more questions and happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 15:10, 19 November 2025 (UTC)
Question from Noaf noaf on Adecco (18:47, 21 November 2025)
هل ساستفيد شيئ --Noaf noaf (talk) 18:47, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
Hello, Noaf noaf! I'm afraid I don't speak Arabic, so you'll have to visit the Arabic Wikipedia for Arabic-language Wikipedia questions in general. Google Translate tried its best, though, so my guess is that your question is "Do you get paid to edit Wikipedia?" and the answer is No. Wikipedia editors are volunteers  we don't generally get paid, we just edit because we like to. Hope this helps! Happy editing, Perfect4th (talk) 20:46, 21 November 2025 (UTC)
Administrator Elections - Call for Candidates
The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Candidates.
Here is the schedule:
  • November 25 – December 1 - Call for candidates
  • December 4–8 - Discussion phase
  • December 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase
Please note the following:
  • The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
  • Prospective candidates are advised to become familiar with the community's expectations of administrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for admin elections candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
  • The process will have a seven day call for candidates phase, a two day pause, a five day discussion phase, and a seven day private vote using SecurePoll. Discussion and questions are only allowed on the candidate pages during the discussion phase.
  • The outcome of this process is identical to making a request for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA versus administrator elections.
  • Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. Later, a user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.
Administrator Elections - Discussion Phase
The discussion phase of the December 2025 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
  • Dec 4–8 - Discussion phase (we are here)
  • Dec 9–15 - SecurePoll voting phase
  • Scrutineering phase
We are currently in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages are open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/December 2025/Discussion phase.
On December 9, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote totals cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's totals during the election. You must be extended confirmed to vote.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which typically lasts between a couple days and a week. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the results page (you may want to watchlist this page) and transcluded to the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate who has not been recalled must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose), and must also have received a minimum of 20 support votes. A candidate that has been recalled must have at least 55.0% support. Because this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.
