July 2025 Edit summaries
Hello Personisinsterest. I'm Quaerens-veritatem. Thank you very much for your contributions to Wikipedia, but please provide a summary of every edit you make. The summaries are very helpful to people browsing an article's history. Summaries help other editors by (a) providing a reason for the edit, (b) saving the time to open up the edit to find out what it's all about, and (c) providing information about the edit on diff pages and lists of changes (such as page histories and watchlists). For where to add them, see How to add an edit summary, and for help in adding them, see Help:Edit summary generally, and sections such as WP:FIES, WP:EDITSUMCITE, and WP:SUMMARYNO.
According to Wikipedia's consensus policy, all edits should be explained —either by clear edit summaries, or by discussion on the associated talk page. Edit summary content is visible in:
- User contributions
- Recent changes
- Watchlists
- Revision differences
- IRC channels
- Related changes
- New pages list
- Article editing history
Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit and a summary of what the edit changes. You can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →
Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary.
As a reminder:
When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
If the edit is minor, the "This is a minor edit" box can be checked. See, Help:Minor_edit. A good rule of thumb is that only edits consisting solely of spelling corrections, formatting changes, or rearrangement of text without modification of the content may be flagged as minor edits.
Many who are ignorant of the Wikipedia policy on edit summaries fail to add them. Some ignore this basic brief task; however, failure seems inconsiderate specially since summaries are so easy to add. According to Wikipedia's consensus policy, all edits should be explained —either by clear edit summaries, or by discussion on the associated talk page. Kind regards, Quaerens-veritatem (talk) 00:38, 21 July 2025 (UTC)
Can you add these Israeli public opinion polls to the relevant page?
https://archive.ph/m9bBi NYT: ‘Revenge Is Not a Policy’: Israelis Voice Dissent Against the War in Gaza After a long silence, prominent Israelis and activists are increasingly raising alarms about potential war crimes being carried out by the government.
I'm not sure where it would the best and am not really active in this topic area.
Despite the desperate humanitarian crisis, a survey conducted in May by the Institute for National Security Studies at Tel Aviv University found that 64.5 percent of the Israeli public was not at all, or not very, concerned about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. About three-quarters of Israeli Jews thought that Israel’s military planning should not take into account the suffering of the Palestinian civilian population in Gaza, or should do so only minimally, according to another recent survey by the Israel Democracy Institute, a nonpartisan research group in Jerusalem.
