Standard notice for editors in the area of post-1932 American politics

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Note that I have "self-alerted" myself at the top of my talk page, these alerts should be considered routine. I've also added some headers to the talk page of your article. I was wondering when one would be created. Doug Weller talk 19:49, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
I've never really got into contributing until last December, so my Wikipedia skills ain't sharp, but thanks for the tip! Think I'll do the Wikipedia adventure soon. Phillip Samuel (talk) 20:00, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

2020 United States presidential election Electoral College count moved to draftspace

An article you recently created, 2020 United States presidential election Electoral College count, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Interstellarity (talk) 20:28, 5 January 2021 (UTC)

Interstellarity, thanks for the help! I'm an inexperienced editor so I'm unfamiliar with the process. I was hoping that after creating the page others would join in and help me with the information instead of having to do it all by myself. Will others still be able to help me edit in draft mode? Phillip Samuel (talk) 20:37, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
Others can see your draft and edit it, however I would recommend not relying on others to create the article for you. It is not listed in search engines like Google or DuckDuckGo. Creating an article from scratch is one of the hardest tasks on Wikipedia and many new editors like yourself struggle to do it. The page H:YFA is a helpful guide that guides you through the process of creating an article. I would recommend that you edit existing articles so you can get a feel for how Wikipedia works. That is how I learned. Interstellarity (talk) 21:02, 5 January 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for the advice Interstellarity. I've been editing a couple websites to expand my knowledge on the tools and guidelines, and I'll definitely keep doing so and check H:YFA. Creating a Wikipedia article is more daunting than I thought, but I'll get there. :)

Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from United States Electoral College into 2020 United States presidential election Electoral College count. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was copied, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 12:29, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Merlin 182053785 742f6ce9-bc6c-40a5-9c21-f2be455f99ff-articleLarge.jpg

A tag has been placed on File:Merlin 182053785 742f6ce9-bc6c-40a5-9c21-f2be455f99ff-articleLarge.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the file appears to be a blatant copyright infringement of https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/06/us/politics/congress-certifying-the-election-explainer.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Whpq (talk) 18:37, 7 January 2021 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Second impeachment of Donald Trump (January 11)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed! Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Eyebeller was:
This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit when they have been resolved.

Speedy deletion nomination of Social policy of the Joe Biden administration

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. This is a notice to inform you that a tag has been placed on Social policy of the Joe Biden administration requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, images, a rephrasing of the title, a question that should have been asked at the help or reference desks, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.  // Timothy :: talk  15:04, 23 January 2021 (UTC)

Information icon Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Draft:Social policy of the Joe Biden administration. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 12:52, 24 January 2021 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of American Rescue Plan

Notice

The article American Rescue Plan has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

I believe we should merge this into the Presidency of Joe Biden page.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hello, I'm AspeningAWB. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to GameStop short squeeze seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. AspeningAWB (talk) 17:47, 31 January 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading that file here on WP! I've expanded the non-free use rationale, as per our conversation on Commons. Edge3 (talk) 04:57, 4 February 2021 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Answer of President Trump to the Request of the House of the Representatives of the testimony of President Trump for the Second Impeachment Trial of former President Donald John Trump.png

Thank you for uploading File:Answer of President Trump to the Request of the House of the Representatives of the testimony of President Trump for the Second Impeachment Trial of former President Donald John Trump.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
