i'm back?
Hey! It's been a while. Sorry for the absence, I didn't mean to leave you hanging. I got irrationally busy again. As a perk, at least I've got a PC set up now. :)
If there's anything I can help with, let me know. Also, I plan on visiting Six Flags Great America this year, so if you need any photos of Raging Bull let me know! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Therguy10 (talk • contribs) 20:48, 9 January 2026 (UTC)
- @Therguy10: Oops, I'm a little late, sorry I forgot to respond to this! I'm so glad you're back! I've recently been working lots more on the WikiProject Amusement Parks revival and it'd be great to have your input on that :)
- We can discuss more on the talk page discussion, but my current hopes for the near future are the following:
- Have an issue of the newsletter ready by the end of 2026 quarter 1 (March 31)
- Implement the temporary '50 years of Great America' collaboration
- Personal goal: GA a few more Great America articles while the collaboration is up
- Get a final consensus on implementing the visual makeover of the project
- Complete the members' census
- The message should likely include information about how to contribute to the WikiProject as well as about the current discussions (visual makeover, notify about the revival of the newsletter)
- It's great to have you back active; there are too few faces around the amusement park area of Wikipedia I feel. Hopefully we can work to change that! Plighting Engineerd (talk) 01:45, 22 February 2026 (UTC)
- Haha no worries! I’m a little rusty myself. (shown by me forgetting to sign my comment lol)
- I’m mightily grateful you’ve kept this going! I feared the project would be completely stagnant by the time I returned.
- I’ll take a look at all of this in detail soon, including the comments you pinged me in. (including the proposals)
- As you can imagine I have a few things to catch up, but this is my #1 WP priority. I’m sure it’s mentioned somewhere in the proposals, but how far did you manage with the redesign?
- As a first order of business, I wholeheartedly support the name “Project Retrack”. I cannot think of a more fitting name.
- Besides that, is the newsletter your first priority right now?
- Therguy10 (talk) 00:04, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- I'm very happy to see you around again! I'm glad I could keep some momentum going on the project while you were away!
- As for the redesign, I've finished the visual makeover of the main page and menu and I've somewhat changed my stance – previously, I wanted to get the content for the new resource pages done and everything so they could ship with the visual redesign, but at this point I think that it's probably best to, when consensus is reached, implement it without the rest first to break the curse of no progress, then follow up with the rest.
- The only placeholder in the redesign is the to-do list, which I also made a section for on that big thread, but in the interim we could just place the old to-do list there until we figure out what to do with it (heh... to do...).
- I'm glad you like the Project Retrack name :)
- As for the first priority, it's the newsletter and the census. If we want to include a message about the newsletter (which I think we should), then how we're doing newsletter opting is the first thing to decide; next is finalizing and sending the census message; afterwards, the newsletter can be sent out on March 31. That's the date by which we would ideally have those two matters figured out.
- I'm looking forward to seeing what you have to say! I'm also hoping some other people will weigh in on the proposals I put on the talk page too (sometimes I feel like I'm just writing into the void over there...) but I'm sure others will eventually take a look at it :) Plighting Engineerd (talk) 01:06, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Tell me why I burst out laughing at the “to do” joke
- But yes. I’ll get on the census as soon as I get a solid time to do so. (any ideas what do put in the census message?)
- I feel you with the lack of input. Adog and Gone have been so vital for years with this but it seems they lack the time.. I’m unsure of their status, but a few editors I previously worked with:
- ZLima12 - CosmicVortecs - SummeRStorM79
- Perhaps they would be interested? Therguy10 (talk) 02:00, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Regarding the census, the most important message is of course the purpose of the message in the first place: making sure members update their status to active if they are still involved. We can't risk losing that by filling the message with lots of other stuff, but I think we can afford a few more notices. The main two I was thinking of were firstly, a notice telling people that they can opt in or out of the newsletter (method to be decided), and secondly, ways they can contribute to the project (possibly linking the current collaboration?). There's more in the big thread on the WikiProject Amusement Parks talk page. Plighting Engineerd (talk) 02:16, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Pardon me if this is in the main thread, but how do you feel about sending a main message first, and then following up with the notices if they’re? We do risk overwhelming them, though. Either way, I’ll draft something up soon but will run it all by you first. Therguy10 (talk) 02:33, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- That's definitely something that could be done. If we're going with an added column in the participants table, I think it could make the most sense to include them both in the same message (both actions are in the same place). Either way, there's definitely a possibility of it being split between two messages. Plighting Engineerd (talk) 03:05, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- I’m sure you picked this up but I meant *if they’re interested* (not just “if they’re” lol)
- I see your point, I hadn’t thought of that convenience.
- Last question for now, do you want a set date to send everything out? I know you said before the newsletter, but are you thinking of all at once or in waves? Therguy10 (talk) 03:09, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- Good question. I'm just going to move this conversation over to the talk page of the WikiProject since I have some extended thoughts and I wanted it to be in a bit more of a visible place. I'll put it under the relevant section of the Project Retrack thread. Plighting Engineerd (talk) 03:19, 24 February 2026 (UTC)

- And thanks for the list of editors! There are lots of people who are in or may be interested in the project and are still active, but unfortunately there aren't many who have been active on the talk pages. In a week or so if there isn't more activity, it may be worthwhile to reach out to some members on their talk pages. Plighting Engineerd (talk) 02:23, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- That’s what is so funny to me. There honestly seems like a bunch of raw interest that just needs to be organized. That’s what makes the WikiProject revival so exciting! Therguy10 (talk) 02:34, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
- My thoughts exactly! Plighting Engineerd (talk) 03:00, 24 February 2026 (UTC)
