Petrified
Hello! Thanks for correcting my edit about Petrification. But could you please clarify what you mean by "it is just used as a verb to comply with MOS guidelines on fiction"? OrdinaryOtter (talk) 08:46, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, see MOS:INUNIVERSE, imo capitalising "petrified" means adopting an in-universe perspective, since the spell does not actually exist. Poirot09 (talk) 08:52, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply. If we use lower-case "petrify", then aren't we implicitly using the dictionary definition of the word, which would be inaccurate for the plot summary? Perhaps we should include somewhere on the page the specifics of what "Petrification" means in Rowling's books? OrdinaryOtter (talk) 10:56, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- You could replace petrify with immobilises, I think that's accurate. Poirot09 (talk) 11:21, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- I rewrote the first sentence of the lead, which now includes this segment:
- "After several residents of the school are attacked and magically immobilised, Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione investigate."
- In the plot summary, I introduced Petrification thus:
- "Argus Filch's cat is found magically immobilised—"Petrified"—along with a warning..."
- Do you think this works? If we define Petrification, do you think we can then use it with a capital "P" throughout the rest of the page? OrdinaryOtter (talk) 14:01, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- I would just use immobilise throughout the whole summary, since I think that using in-universe vocabulary is still against MOS guidelines. However, you might want to raise the issue on the article's talk page and ask other editors for their opinion as well, just to get a wider consensus. Poirot09 (talk) 22:08, 29 January 2026 (UTC)

Done. I have replaced "petrify" with "immobilise" throughout the page, and have also created a talk page thread.

Request to review Bella Ramsey FAC nomination
Hi @Poirot09. Apologies for contacting you out of the blue but I was wondering whether you be willing to take a look at my featured article nomination for Bella Ramsey's page? I noticed you’ve recently reviewed Ethan Hawke FAC, and I’d really value any feedback or suggestions you had. Thanks! Crp74 (talk) 09:33, 25 February 2026 (UTC)
