Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. We appreciate encyclopedic contributions, but some of your recent contributions, such as your edit to the page Adelaide, have removed content without a good reason to do so. Content on Wikipedia should not be removed just because you disagree with it or because you think it's wrong, unless the claim is not verifiable. Instead, you should consider expanding the article with noteworthy and verifiable information of your own, citing reliable sources when you do so. If you'd like to experiment with the wiki's syntax, please do so in the sandbox rather than in articles. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Proposed deletion of Jeopardy! Australia

Hello, PrezDough

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Vanderwaalforces, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've proposed an article that you started, Jeopardy! Australia, for deletion because it meets one or more of our deletion criteria, and I don't think that it is suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. The particular issue can be found in the notice that is now visible at the top of the article.

If you wish to contest the deletion:

  1. Edit the page
  2. Remove the text that looks like this: {{proposed deletion/dated...}}
  3. Click the Publish changes button.

If you object to the article's deletion, please remember to explain why you think the article should be kept on the article's talk page and improve the page to address the issues raised in the deletion notice. Otherwise, it may be deleted later by other means.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Vanderwaalforces}}. And remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. Thanks!

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tuy Phong district, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Binh Thuan and Hai Ninh. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ  Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion nomination of Marie-Rose Tessier

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Marie-Rose Tessier requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://globalsupercentenarianforum.com/index.php/community/top10livingscs/marie-rose-tessier-fra-1910-present/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Speedy deletion nomination of Eulalia Bravo Bravo

Hello PrezDough,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Eulalia Bravo Bravo for deletion, because it seems to be copied from another source, probably infringing copyright.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to rewrite it in your own words, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Request reason:

Hello, I hope you’re having a great day. Recently I was blocked from Wikipedia because I posted copyrighted content on a few occasions. I didn’t realise that this content was protected under copyright, and in the future I will be much more cautious about this. I have always tried to help Wikipedia by updating, expanding and creating articles, and to be honest I was a little bit shocked by the block from editing. However, I shouldn’t have added copyrighted material and I certainly will avoid this in the future.

Kind Regards, PrezDoughPrezDough (talk) 01:07, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

Decline reason:

To misquote Lady Bracknell, to violate copyright once may be regarded as a misfortune; to do it on "a few occasions" looks like carelessness.

If you didn't realise that the contents you violated were in copyright, how will you know that going forward, and how can you therefore say you will avoid such problems in the future?

Given the number of previous warnings, I think you'll have to do a bit more than just say you'll be more careful. Please revise WP:CV, then explain in your own words 1) what you understand copyright to mean; 2) how will you know (in broad terms) whether something is or isn't in copyright, and what should you assume if you can't be certain.

I'm not asking for this just to be difficult and to put up hoops for you to jump through. Copyright is a substantial legal issue, and we must and do take compliance very seriously. That's why we need to be confident that it's safe to let you continue editing, given your past performance in this area. DoubleGrazing (talk) 06:06, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Request reason:

(updated version addressing the problems that DoubleGrazing had stated) Dear Administrators,

I am writing to appeal the block placed on my account following the deletion of the article I created on Eulalia Bravo Bravo. I now understand that my contributions violated Wikipedia’s copyright policy, and I take full responsibility for that error. I apologise sincerely for this and would like to explain my view and offer a path forward.

Copyright is a legal protection that gives the original creator of a work (such as a written article, book, or website content) the exclusive right to control how it is used, including copying, republishing, or changing it. On Wikipedia, this means that I can’t copy or closely rewrite content from another source, even if I credit the source. The content must be written entirely in my own words and style. Even “close paraphrasing”, where the structure and phrasing are too similar to the original is considered a copyright violation under Wikipedia’s rules.

In general, I now understand that most modern written content (like websites, news articles, and databases) is automatically copyrighted unless it’s explicitly stated otherwise. This includes LongeviQuest, news websites, and most third-party biographies. Going forward, I will assume that any content I find online is copyrighted unless it clearly states that it is public domain or released under a free license (eg. Creative Commons).

If I’m ever unsure whether something is copyrighted, I will not use or paraphrase it; instead, I will:

  • Use multiple sources to gather facts,
  • Write the content completely in my own words, and
  • Focus on verifiable facts that are common knowledge (such as dates or public announcements), rather than copying descriptions or phrasing.

I would like to state that my intent was never to plagiarise or improperly use copyrighted material. I was attempting to paraphrase content from reliable sources such as LongeviQuest, believing this fell within acceptable limits. However, after reviewing Wikipedia:Copyright violations, I now realise that even close paraphrasing can constitute a copyright infringement if the structure or expression of the source remains too similar. I appreciate that Wikipedia requires content to be written in editors’ own words, rather than slightly rewritten from source text.

I now fully acknowledge the importance of respecting Wikipedia’s commitment to free content. I now better understand the expectations set by policies including:

  • WP:COPYVIO, especially the rule that “close paraphrasing of copyrighted sources is not acceptable.”
  • The emphasis that Wikipedia “can only include text that is either in the public domain, freely licensed, or written entirely in your own words.”

I want to do better and contribute constructively to Wikipedia moving forward. If given a second chance, I will:

  • Ensure all content I submit is written in my own words.
  • Using proper attribution when required.
  • Avoid even close paraphrasing of source material.
  • Seek advice from experienced editors when unsure.

If necessary, I am willing to work under mentorship or with editing restrictions until I demonstrate I can fully comply with copyright and content policies. I am committed to earning the community’s trust again.

Thank you very much for considering my appeal. I value Wikipedia as a project and would like the opportunity to contribute to it the right way.

Sincerely, PrezDough (talk) 09:29, 10 July 2025 (UTC)

Accept reason:

Unblocking. 331dot (talk) 16:42, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

This isn't bad, but you haven't done as DoubleGrazing asked above("explain in your own words 1) what you understand copyright to mean; 2) how will you know (in broad terms) whether something is or isn't in copyright, and what should you assume if you can't be certain") These points are vitally important for you to show us that you understand. 331dot (talk) 08:24, 8 July 2025 (UTC)

Hello User:331dot, I have added content to my appeal regarding what DoubleGrazing had stated. I am awaiting a second review of this appeal if you are able to. Thanks. PrezDough (talk) 10:18, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

  • DoubleGrazing What do you think? 331dot (talk) 10:39, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
I'd say that's a pretty solid effort – well done, PrezDough! On that basis, I'd support an unblock (although I'm not the blocking admin, of course). -- DoubleGrazing (talk) 10:45, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
  • I'm fairly sure Moneytrees will be okay with this, but I'll ping them here where this involves copyright. 331dot (talk) 10:51, 11 July 2025 (UTC)
    @331dot I'm fine with an unblock; I think it's worth a try here. Moneytrees🏝️(Talk) 16:35, 11 July 2025 (UTC)

Please could you refrain from prematurely creating these unencyclopedic articles of unremarkable elderly people, which will only be nominated for deletion and then obviously deleted. Please save us the trouble of going through this unnecessary and energy sapping process. MattSucci (talk) 18:35, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

Firstly, you didn’t reach any consensus with other editors to see whether OTHER editors (other than yourself, who doesn’t want this article to exist) want this article to be kept, merged, or deleted. Secondly, just because you’re believing that they are “unencyclopedic” and “unremarkable”, doesn’t mean that they aren’t. I get how you aren’t a fan of supercentenarian articles, but in the future you SHOULD reach consensus, whether that’s via the talk page or by a deletion process. According to WP:ATD, it recommends that a discussion with the talk page is the best way to go, basically echoing what I said in the previous sentence. PrezDough (talk) 22:57, 13 September 2025 (UTC)

Hello, PrezDough. I understand you are a fan of supercentenarians - people aged 110 and older - and I am as well. We can talk about them on your user talk or mine. My name is CentenarianKid. To start, what's your favorite supercentenarian? for me it's a hard one but it has to be Joao Marinho Neto, I believe he is very sharp and my guess is he will live to 114+. A close runner up is Ethel Caterham, I think she will reach 117.
