Question from FinnDalyyy (01:56, 26 November 2025)
Remember Me? From Draft: Martina Dimoska
Hi, @Qcne! So I've taken quite a while to digest all feedback I've gotten from the Teahouse and other forums. First of all, I wanted to say thank you for your feedback specifically. It felt very scary to see that red banner on my passion project but reading comments like yours made declination better. Thank you for that. 🤎 So I'm currently working on revamping the draft and I would like to humbly request your eyes to make sure I'm on the right path. Specifically, I would like to know: 1) Does the subject (Martina Dimoska) stand a chance on Wikipedia? You mentioned some concern you had about the subject meeting the criteria. Maybe it's because of the quality of the past draft... maybe not? Maybe it's just the subject itself? I don't know, let me know what you think. 2) Am I on the right path with the references? I understand interviews are not reliable, independent sources, but what if I can't find alternatives? 3) As you would see, I took out some sentences I felt I fluffed waaaayyyyy too much and even the published research section (because I had to go knee-deep in archives to get those and if I had to go that far... then maybe it's not public enough to mention so I took it out). Do you think this was a right step to take? I know there's still a lot of work to do. I know I need to read everything line by line and ensure full compliance to the WP MoS but for now... do you think I'm on the right path? I'd really appreciate any feedback you give. Thanks! SpaceTrail (talk) 11:12, 30 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @SpaceTrail! I'm answering on behalf of @Qcne, per their request on the NPP Discord! I'm a fellow new page reviewer, and work in the same area of the project as them! I hope my feedback is helpful to you!
- Linking this for quick access: Draft:Martina Dimoska
- This is what's classed as a WP:BLP, which means sources are held to a higher standard. At this time, the draft appears to have a substantial number of sources that are considered generally unreliable. These include WP:LINKEDIN, WP:INSTAGRAM and multiple WP:BLOGS. Interviews are considered WP:PRIMARY, and can be used, but do not contribute to notability, in this case WP:NPERSON.
- I can't comment on whether this individual is notable without doing a deeper look, but from what I can see, this draft complies with WP:NPOV and MOS:SO! I think with some sourcing improvements, this draft should have a good chance of being accepted through AfC! Happy editing! 11WB (talk) 20:07, 31 January 2026 (UTC)
- Hi, @11WB! First of all, thank you so much for your response. I hope you don't mind, I have a few areas of concerns. So first of all, I had to sleep on the reliable sources list on Wikipedia and even though it was very overwhelming. So I have 38 references on the draft (if you don't count some occasional reuse here and there), only 4 of my sources are on the sources list (thankfully all are green): Forbes, Voice of America, Bloomberg Adria (huge question mark on this one because Bloomberg Adria — a Bloomberg Media + Mtel Swiss project was not listed), and National Geographic (another huge question mark because my citation was from a National Geographic Polska which mentions being under the National Geographic Society, but I'm not sure if that automatically makes NG Polska credible). THEN, the remaining 34 did not even show up on the list. I know the list is not exhaustive (👀?) but it just made my jaw drop a bit. Now, my questions:
- 1) UNIVERSITY SOURCE: For example, my draft has a citation from UND Today (UND Today is the University of North Dakota’s official online news source... according to their website). I'm not 100% sure but I think this was the only platform that shared this story because it was a university-focused space project. What do you think? Should I just not mention the project itself if a university press is the only thing that can back it up? Or will that fly?
- 2) WEBSITE PAGES: Okay, so there are instances where I had to cite some static website pages as a proof of statement. For example (not going to external-link too much just in case so I'll just mention), the LunAres Research Station Ambassadors page that shows Martina's profile under the SELENE and TERRA NOVA analogy astronaut missions. Or the ICEE Space homepage that has Martina's profile (as well) to proves she was indeed a part of the APICES mission (alternative options was a Facebook post from ICEE. Lol). Or the spacegeneration.org/regions/europe/northmacedonia page that mentions Martina Dimoska as one of the National Point of Contacts of North Macedonia. How do I proceed with these? I believed that these sources were important to verifying some statements I made. If these are unworthy sources, does that mean I have to take out those statements?
- 3) MACEDONIAN-BASED SOURCES: So I noticed a lot of Macedonian-domained outlets did say a lot about Martina... and I cited some I felt were credible (?) like Gradska.mk, Anthropol, MKD.mk, presedatel.mk, CRNOBELO.com... what yardstick can I use to measure the reliability of this kind of source? Especially measuring it in a way that a Wikipedia reviewer would (or rather understand the rationale).
- I know this is long. I sincerely apologise for the time you'll spend on this. If you feel I'm being too lazy and specific Wikipedia articles exist that addresses all my highlighted concerns exist, I wouldn't mind being pointed to the helpful articles. Anyone works. Thanks. 🥹 SpaceTrail (talk) 17:01, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
- There is quite a lot to go over there. I think your best bet would be to start a discussion at either the Teahouse or the reliable sources noticeboard. They are more appropriate venues to receive feedback. 11WB (talk) 17:13, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
Wikipedia question: awards & independent coverage
Hi! Hope you’re well
I had a Wikipedia question come up from a recent call with one of the organisations we work with, and I wanted to sense check my understanding from a Wiki best practice point of view
Their CEO, Sigrid van Aken, has recently been awarded the Légion d’Honneur. She already has an “Awards and honours” section on her English Wikipedia page, but the only coverage I can currently find is on the organisation’s own site - which made me assume it wouldn’t be appropriate to add anything yet.
I was curious:
- Is the usual expectation that honours such as this should only be added once there’s independent secondary coverage? - And more generally speaking, if something is added to the English page in future, do other language Wikipedias ever update automatically, or is that always handled separately?
I’m mainly asking to make sure I’m thinking about COI and sourcing in the right way.
Thanks so much!! LaurenCanavan-Wiki (talk) 17:29, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
Question from Frippenator (22:36, 3 February 2026)
Hi! I’m working on a draft of an article about a music album. When it comes to information regarding, say, the overarching theme of the album or how long the recording process took, do those strictly need to be from secondary sources? They’re details discussed on the artist’s website, but I’m unsure if that works in this circumstance, since I’d assume that’s a primary source. :P --Frippenator (talk) 22:36, 3 February 2026 (UTC)
- Hi @Frippenator, sorry for not replying to this- I have been on a Wikibreak. Did you get this answered in the end, or do you still need help? qcne (talk) 20:22, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
Hello
So my page Marvin J. Thacker has some reliable sources such as https://www.news-expressky.com/news/one-of-pike-s-oldest-living-veterans-shares-his-story/article_c830f308-a9b4-11ec-914d-1f3fed266fdf.html. Athazagoraphobia
what can I do better so I can get Athazagoraphobia published and could you help me with it? Ghostrider00 (talk) 16:12, 18 February 2026 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi @Ghostrider00, because Wikipedia is not a dictionary, we don't accept articles that are simply definitions of neologisms, as they don't meet our notability criteria. If you're able to find multiple sources that discuss Athazagoraphobia in-depth (meeting WP:GOLDENRULE), then an article might be viable if it's expanded beyond a definition. This might be of interest to you (it's about AI)...
The Help Project is holding a discussion on planning help pages to provide instructions for editors on how to use AI apps to work on Wikipedia pages. We're currently brainstorming the kinds of things AI apps can be used for, and the types of pages these can be applied to, in order to choose what help page to draft first. Drafting a how-to help page, and trying out the tools to test work flows (instructions), may provide much insight into the practicalities to apply and pitfalls to avoid in the use of AI on Wikipedia (all namespaces). The thread is Wikipedia:Help Project#Planning help for AI workflows. See you there! — The Transhumanist 19:18, 19 February 2026 (UTC)
Joel Vicent Joseph
Hi Qcne, I recently processed a sockpuppet investigation which concluded that Sasavara (talk · contribs), the creator of the article titled Joel Vicent Joseph ("formerly Mr Puaz"), is a sockpuppet of Randyjoel (talk · contribs), who had created the articles Mr Puaz and MrPuaz four times under different accounts, resulting in the creation-protection of the two latter article titles.
I am seeking to either speedily delete the Joel Vicent Joseph article per criterion G5 or move it to draft space, but to proceed, I would need your permission to exclude from consideration either your significant edits to the article (Special:Diff/1330659903 and Special:Diff/1330658809) or your acceptance of the draft. Would you like to give me permission to speedily delete or draftify this article? — Newslinger talk 20:41, 22 February 2026 (UTC)

- Etherpad cleanup: For security and performance reasons, all current pads on Wikimedia’s Etherpad instance, the web-based "ephemeral" editor for real-time collaborative document editing, will be permanently deleted after 30 April. We will continue running this Etherpad instance to support events and other short-term collaboration, but will be periodically deleting data going forward. If you have content in Etherpad you want to keep, please create local backups, as data will be permanently deleted and will not be able to be recovered.
- Activity tab: Wikipedia iOS app has rolled out the improved Activity tab to all users in version 7.9.0. A/B test results showed increased account creation among users with access to the feature. Updates include enhanced editing impact insights, module customization, and relocation of History into the Search tab.
- Reference Check: The feature Reference Check has been deployed to all Wikipedias. In A/B testing, the impact was substantial: newcomers shown Reference Check were approximately 2.2 times more likely to include a reference on desktop (or acknowledge/explain why they did not) and about 17.5 times more likely on mobile web.
- Semantic search: The Foundation has launched a limited Android mobile app experiment that tests hybrid search capabilities which can handle both semantic and keyword queries. The Phase 1 beta is now live on Greek Wikipedia. The goal is to understand whether combining meaning-based retrieval with keyword search helps readers find information more effectively. Testing will expand to English, French, and Portuguese Wikipedias in March.
- Navigation experience: The Foundation will run an experiment for mobile web users, that adds a table of contents and automatically expands all article sections, to learn more about navigation issues they face. The test will be available on Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Indonesian, and Vietnamese Wikipedias.

- Site notices: Site notices (MediaWiki:Sitenotice and MediaWiki:Anonnotice) now will render on all platforms, not just on the desktop site. Users on mobile web will now see these notices and be informed.
- Tech News: Latest updates from Tech News week 08 and 09 include the new “Edit full page” button for people who are editing a page-section using the mobile visual editor. They also link to the 40 community submitted tasks that were resolved over the last two weeks.
- Wikifunctions: Abstract Wikipedia is going to have its public preview within the next few weeks, here is the preview.

Question from Pamela Hasegawa (13:48, 5 March 2026)
I just read the Wikipedia entry about Woordrow Wilson H,S. in Los Angeles. I was a reader there from 1963-69. Our principal, Attilio Parisi, had done a GREAT job choosing teachers. The group I started with the 1963 included many amazing individuals; many of us had enormous respect for our students and enjoyed teaching in such a culturally diverse community. As I recall, our student population included about 75% Chicano, 15+ % Asian-Asian-American students and a small minority of Caucasian and African American students. I still have friends who were students then. I hope you will change the phrasing in the first paragraph to say SOME (teachers yadayada…) instead of “teachers” (implying it was many) .
.I am 85 and have difficulty using my iPad keyboard or I’d go back to the page where I tried to suggest the edit of inserting “some” before “teachers” . I’m sure I’m not the only former WWHS faculty/staff who remains in touch with students from that period.
Also, I don’t think the article makes clear that the WWHS included grades 7-8 at that time. WWHS separated from the bldg on Eastern Avenue when the new WWHS was built up on Multnomah. --Pamela Hasegawa (talk) 13:48, 5 March 2026 (UTC)

- Note: Karuuman's mentor Cyberdog958 is away.
Hello, how is a good article, and how can I make it? --Karuuman (talk) 16:55, 6 March 2026 (UTC)

The review is done by another uninvolved user, and they will pass it if meets all of those criteria. You can see those criteria at WP:GACR6. HurricaneZeta alt (talk) 19:29, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from Political kophi on Wikipedia talk:Welcoming committee (21:17, 7 March 2026)
Hello how do I create citation --Political kophi (talk) 21:17, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) @Political kophi WP:REFB explains the technical parts of it, but sources should be reliable - which means there is a reasonable expectation of the information being true - independent, which means it's not paid for or otherwise affiliated with what the article is covering, and shows significant coverage - a single mention wouldn't be significant, but several paragraphs would be.
- I see below that you are trying to write an article. Unfortunately, that text reads very promotionally. Articles should be focused on the facts and be written in a neutral point of view. You should find three good sources that meet the three requirements I said above. These sources would prove that he meets our criteria for inclusion, known as notability. You should have a citation for every statement, and they should be placed no later than the end of the paragraph. HurricaneZeta alt (talk) 19:39, 15 March 2026 (UTC)- Thank you for the contact. Like I said, I'm still getting familiar with the format & editor. When time permits, could you point me to a sample publishes/approved page of similar complexity that I could use as a model? Thanks again ! WQ2H (talk) 14:34, 16 March 2026 (UTC)
Question from Vova Sokol (22:59, 15 March 2026)
I have produced a new page in my Sandbox. How do I publish it? Can you review it first? Thank you!! --Vova Sokol (talk) 22:59, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Hi @Vova Sokol! Qc is currently away, but I'm happy to answer any questions you may have in the meantime. I can't see a sandbox page in your edit history – you'll need to click "publish" in order to save the page (and any changes you make to it). Once your draft is published, you can add this code to the top of it:
{{subst:submit}}to place it in the queue for a review. I'd also recommend checking out WP:Your first article, which has plenty of useful advice. Happy editing! nil nz 23:36, 16 March 2026 (UTC)- "draft has been submitted and is currently awaiting review"
- Thank you so much!! Vova Sokol (talk) 21:42, 18 March 2026 (UTC)

| For your complete overhaul of the AFC templatesJust wanted to share my appreciation for the new AFC submission decline comments, which have gone live (and which I got to use for the first time)! The rewrites are a great improvement—being both more informative, yet succinct—and will certainly be much appreciated by reviewers and new editors alike. And not to mention, thanks for all of your other work at AFC too! — nil nz 23:23, 16 March 2026 (UTC) |
Question from ChristchurchArtGallery (00:55, 17 March 2026)
Hi there, I am trying to add a few more New Zealand based bands and artists added to Wikipedia - as it seems difficult for some of our notable acts to get a page. Is there any advice you have on the best way to do this? I think one of the main issues could be that the coverage these artists have doesn’t necessarily look amazing to international audiences - because as these artists grow internationally they will only have a few bits of international publicity while having a lot of large scale publications reporting on them nationally. I think the growth for New Zealand based artists just looks a bit different - but not having a Wikipedia page does have an impact on them as they start gaining traction in other countries. --ChristchurchArtGallery (talk) 00:55, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Tēnā koe @ChristchurchArtGallery, & welcome to Wikipedia! Qcne is currently away, but I'm happy to assist in his absence. Before I get into the substance of your question, I do need to note that usernames need to belong to an individual, and can't imply shared usage –
John Doe from ChristchurchArtGallery
is acceptable, but unfortunately ChristchurchArtGallery alone is not.I've331dot has left you some further information on how to fix this on your talk page. - It just so happens to have been one of my missions over the last year to slowly improve the coverage of NZ musicians here on Wikipedia, so probably appropriate I am the one answering this; you can see the small number I've created on my userpage, but my list of artists that need articles is much longer and continues to grow. "Notability" on Wikipedia has a slightly different meaning to how most people define "notability", but when we say "notability" what we're really talking about is our eligibility criteria for standalone articles.
- You can find our "notability" criteria for musicians at WP:NBAND; the good news is that international publicity isn't a requirement (although it certainly helps!). In many instances, kiwi acts can meet the criteria, including if: they receive significant coverage that's independent (aka no interviews or press releases) in multiple reliable sources (including RNZ, Stuff, NZH, Spinoff etc); they've charted on the Official Aotearoa Music Charts; if they've won / been nominated for a major award (including the Aotearoa Music Award, Silver Scroll or the Taite Music Prize. There are many, many NZ artists who meet these criteria and don't have articles yet – not because they haven't received international publicity, but instead because Wikipedia is a work in progress and no one's gotten around to it yet.
- Now I could talk about NZ music all day, but I'm sure qc would rather I didn't leave a wall-of-text on their talk page, so I'll wrap it up there. If you do have any questions, please feel free to reach out on on my talk page! Also please feel free to stop by the WP:New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board, and as well as the WP:WikiProject New Zealand/Music task force! Ngā mihi, nil nz 02:25, 17 March 2026 (UTC)
Wikimedia Foundation Bulletin 2026 Issue 5

Highlights
- Supporting readers: For most of its history, Wikipedia did not have to worry about attracting readers. But with the way people search for information changing, there is a drop in the number of readers which is impacting the number of accounts created and contributions to our sites. Have a look at some of the ongoing and planned work to support reader experience.
- Server switch: All wikis will be read-only for a few minutes on March 25 at 15:00 UTC. This is for the datacenter server switchover backup tests, which happen twice a year.
- Tools improvement: The PTAC Unsupported Tools Working Group continued improvements to Video2Commons in February, with fixes addressing authentication errors, large-file handling, task queue visibility, and clearer upload behavior. Work is still ongoing in some areas, including changes related to deprecated server-side uploads.
- Wikipedia 25 Grants: The celebration continues! The Wikimedia Foundation offers Wikipedia 25 Birthday Funds to communities planning Wikipedia’s 25th birthday events with funding between USD 1,000–2,000. Apply before March 31.

- Experiments: The Foundation is frequently conducting experiments to help learn what features will be most effective and valuable to the projects. The list of experiments in Product and Technology, tracks upcoming, live, in-analysis, and completed experiments as well as their rationale. For example, the tracker shares that one upcoming experiment, Reader to Contributor Baseline, will measure how many readers create contributor accounts and whether the rate differs depending on how people arrived to the site.
- Article guidance: Help less experienced editors by filling out a questionnaire on this page (available in 7 languages). The Foundation are looking particularly for experienced Wikipedia editors from these pilot wikis. Your answers will help customize guidance for less experienced editors while creating an article.
- Wikifunctions: You can now create Functions that will show a citation in their output.
- Editing feature: Suggestion Mode is available as a beta feature within the visual editor at all Wikipedias. This feature proactively suggests various types of actions that people can consider taking to improve Wikipedia articles, and learn about related guidelines.
- Paste Check: Paste Check is now available at all Wikipedias. The feature prompts newcomers who are pasting text they are not likely to have written into VisualEditor to consider whether doing so risks a copyright violation.
- Mobile experience: The user menu in the top corner for all mobile users is standardized so that it is closer to the desktop experience to improve the user interface for readers.
- Two-factor authentication: For security reasons, members of certain user groups are required to have two-factor authentication (2FA) enabled. Currently, 2FA is required to use the group, but not to be a member of it. Given that this model still has some vulnerabilities, the situation will gradually change in March.
- Tech News: Latest updates from Tech News week 10 and 11 include the new GraphQL API has been released as a flexible alternative to select features of the Wikidata Query Service (WDQS). They also link to the 50 community submitted tasks that were resolved over the last two weeks.
