Speedy deletion nomination of File:Malvern School District (Malvern, Arkansas) logo.png

A tag has been placed on File:Malvern School District (Malvern, Arkansas) logo.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:27, 7 January 2026 (UTC)

Speaking into a vacuum

It sometimes feels like my comments on categories for discussion are not even given any attention. It probably does not help that CfD discussions are at times left open for months without relisting. On a few of the sports related 1 article categories I pointed out the specific teams the people are categorized as playing for or coaching lack articles. Although in the case of Category:Harvard Crimson cheerleaders "team" might not be the right word. While there is a cheerleading team at many modern US colleges and universities, the one person in that category is Franklin D. Roosevelt. He was a cheerleader at Harvard College very close to the start of the 20th-century when the cheer leader was a man who actively lead the crowds in cheers at sporting events. I believe he would have done so wearing a suit, and without the pom poms and dancing of modern cheer leaders. He might have had a rudimentary megaphone. He did not engage in lifting cheerleaders on his shoulders and related activities that require a lot of strength as do many men who are College cheer leaders today. I really think that not having the article Harvard Crimson cheerleaders should at least give us pause to create a 1 article category.John Pack Lambert (talk) 03:04, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

That example is a really unhelpful category although, to be fair, presidents and other world leaders often aren't defined by their categories anyway. I remember reading that cheerleading went from mostly male to mostly female after one of the world wars so there may be some continuity there. But having a one article category for any of FDR's college activities seems pretty trivial.
What I would prioritize though is making sure that editing Wikipedia is a hobby you continue to enjoy. We know that CFD has low participation and there is not a consensus to delete narrow college sports categories so let's accept those for now. Given that, maybe it makes sense to work on areas outside of CFD. Or maybe you can spend that time crafting complete but succinct CFD nominations in other topic areas. Or maybe spend more time with offline activities.
I like Wikipedia because there's always more to do. But it becomes overwhelming quickly if you start to think it's all up to you to solve. Hope that helps and, if not, just disregard. RevelationDirect (talk) 04:00, 26 January 2026 (UTC)

I am frustrated

Why is it I who get threatened with banning from catrgory discussions and not the people who go around attacking me in uncivil ways? I stopped making any new spoets related nominations over a month ago and peiple are now teying to ban me over it. It feels like my efforts to improve Wikipedia are never appreciated.John Pack Lambert (talk) 22:51, 27 January 2026 (UTC)

  • It is very frustrating that I expanded the sports nominations because the early ones had some success. I started the one about wrestling coaches just with teams starting with letter A, that succeeded so I made a larger one. I thought there was a general consensus that categories in general were not good with 1 article. Since often a 1 article Category for one team connected to other 1 article categories it was hard to know the scope to organize by. After you advised me to hold off on nominations I did so. I have not made a new sports nomination in weeks. This is just frustrating. People are calling to ban me from category discussions. I have tried to listen to others. I have changed course. I have withdrawn nominations. This is very frustrating. No matter what I do people do not like it. I do not know what to do. I have tried to listen. I tried to find solutions. I tried to interact with other people. I am really trying. I am trying to make this work. This is so disheartening.John Pack Lambert (talk) 23:15, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
I am trying to be collegial. The fact that a discussion that was originally about lots of unclosed CfD discussions was turned into a forum to call for imposing another restriction on my editing of Wikipedia is very discouraging. I keep trying to respond the feedback. With the Slaves by nationality issue I withdrew first some and then the whole thing. With the Aromanians I adjusted to supporting a split of the category. With the generals by nationality I accepted the view that generals by nationality can be define and have begun to do the truly huge amount of work to sort out the categories. This is very discouraging. When you brought up the issue I responded by stopping the nominations. I try to bundle nominations, but there are often specific issues that make bundling hard. I am trying to get this right. It is very frustrating that people can call for a ban on the vague notion that they dislike my actions without there being any actual rule or guideline Ihave broken. The whole process is frustrating. When you asked me to hold off on sports I did. I try to bundle categories reasonably. The knee jerk response of "let's ban that editor" is very frustrating.John Pack Lambert (talk) 23:32, 27 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Is there an established forum to appeal the results of a CfD deciduous? It really feels like part of this whole threat to ban me from CfD is built on the assumption that the way I responded to demands on my talk page in relation to the closing of the CfD specifically over Category:Bulgarian people of Aromanian descent was in some way out of line. I think I did not express my views there as eloquently as I should have. However my main concern is people should not be debating CfD nominations on the talk page of the nominator. I suspect it shilould be done on the talk page of the closer and maybe after that on some formal review request forum. I do not think the nominatorcshoukd be confronted about it. All the more so when people regularly insist CfD nominations be large scale. If the demand is that one editor nominate an entire tree at once, sometimes running over 100 different categories, it seems unreasonable to also demand that that editor be ready to review that entire tree in essentially 24 hours after some other editor makes the decision to close the category. I will admit that there is probably a better way to approach this and I am sorry if I was too abrasive at that point. I do not think it is justified to ban me from CfD over that.John Pack Lambert (talk) 01:34, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
  • Sorry I am sorry if I made too many comment here. It is very frustrating the way Wikipedia is run. Punishment is allowed for amorphous infractions that are not very easily defined. I am filled with fear. It is very stressful. I fear even saying this will be used to justify further restricting my ability to edit Wikipedia.John Pack Lambert (talk) 01:48, 28 January 2026 (UTC)
I think it's reasonable to be frustrated. A lot of things are true at the same time, at least from my perspective:
  • Your sequence of events on the college sports nominations seems accurate to me.
  • Finding the right size of CFD nominations is hard, too large and it's WP:TRAINWRECK; too small and you're flooding the zone.
  • Some of your nominations could have been both better grouped and written more succinctly.
  • You have been admirably restrained with another editor personalizing a dispute.
  • Feedback on your talk page is either not replied to or, with Bulgarian descent section, the replies seem less than collegial.
  • I generally agree with your shared concern with narrow categories. (No opinion on the descent/immigration ones.)
  • CFD has been brittle for some time due to low participation.
  • The discussion about the number of CFD closers pivoted to the number of nominations you open.
You might want to consider asking what would be an acceptable solution in the Bulgarian descent discussion (and listen to the answer) and pause new nominations during the AN discussion (again, so that you can listen to any feedback). I'm just a fellow editor though so, as always, feel free to to use what's helpful and just ignore the rest. RevelationDirect (talk) 05:02, 28 January 2026 (UTC)

Category:National Socialist Party of America v. Village of Skokie has been nominated for deletion

Category:National Socialist Party of America v. Village of Skokie has been nominated for deletion. A discussion is taking place to decide whether it complies with the categorization guidelines. If you would like to participate in the discussion, you are invited to add your comments at the category's entry on the categories for discussion page. Thank you. PARAKANYAA (talk) 01:25, 4 February 2026 (UTC)

Procedurally, once you realize you're going to nominate a category, I would hold off on removing any of the contents since that's been a touchy issue at CFD. Substantively, I didn't oppose your nomination. RevelationDirect (talk) 02:03, 4 February 2026 (UTC)
