Dhurandhar

Hi Robert the page you protected is having a RFC . When it is expected to conclude.  Preceding unsigned comment added by ~2026-18735-59 (talk) 14:37, 25 March 2026 (UTC)

7-30 days from when it is opened typically per WP:RFC#Duration. – robertsky (talk) 14:55, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
Do we need more discussions to conclude that it's a propoganda ~2026-18735-59 (talk) 15:19, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
? ~2026-18735-59 (talk) 15:19, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
the comment velocity has not slowed down (relatively). – robertsky (talk) 15:23, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
Well, I contemplated that the portrayal of the movie as propoganda acted as a marketing catalyst, keeping the film constantly in headlines and social media conversations.
As a result, curiosity driven viewership increased, turning criticism into a powerful driver of popularity and engagement. I kindly request you to keep the rfc open as long as possible till the end of 30 days, if you could. As I watched the movie today and only thing I can say it's a pice of art. ~2026-18735-59 (talk) 16:18, 25 March 2026 (UTC)
Hey 59, I think your conclusion misleads.
Within 12 minutes of you posting, an admin stepped in and explicitly advised maintaining status quo ante at TP.
Also, your claim that “portrayal of the movie as propaganda acted as a marketing catalyst” doesn’t really hold when you look at actual reach metrics.
The Wikipedia page got around 5.5 million views in 30 days. In contrast, a single 30 second Instagram reel about Dhurandhar: The Revenge from a relatively small account has upto 10 million views and do free publicity and audience reach for the film. And there are thousands of similar reels circulating on all sm and yt combined.
So if we’re talking about impact and visibility, social media amplification is clearly operating at a completely different scale than Wikipedia traffic. That weakens the argument that Wikipedia portrayal meaningfully drove the film’s reach. ~2026-18984-17 (talk) 08:43, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
That said, the timing is interesting. Within about 12 minutes of your post, an admin stepped in and advised maintaining status quo ante at TP.
I’m not necessarily saying the two are directly connected, but it does make it hard to completely dismiss the possibility that your post influenced the outcome whether coincidentally or otherwise. ~2026-18984-17 (talk) 08:45, 27 March 2026 (UTC)
erm, a minor point of clarification, the 5.3 of 5.5 million page views happened after the movie was released. Not in 30 days. You would know that if you have clicked through on the number on the information page. https://pageviews.wmcloud.org/?project=en.wikipedia.org&platform=all-access&agent=user&redirects=0&start=2026-03-19&end=2026-03-26&pages=Dhurandhar:_The_Revenge – robertsky (talk) 10:30, 27 March 2026 (UTC)

"Population"

I don't really think it's necessary to link "population" in so many articles. Most readers probably know what the word means. Thanks. Magnolia677 (talk) 14:10, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

@Magnolia677 I am just disambiguating the existing links due to the requested move discussion. Go ahead and delink them all? There are about 10,000 articles. – robertsky (talk) 14:17, 31 March 2026 (UTC)

Confirmed

How do I become Extended confirmed user? Darrrrmilk (talk) 16:53, 29 March 2026 (UTC)

@Darrrrmilk WP:XCON: A registered editor becomes extendedconfirmed automatically once the account has existed for at least 30 days and has made at least 500 edits. – robertsky (talk) 16:59, 29 March 2026 (UTC)
I did that now but I still don't have it yet. Darrrrmilk (talk) 05:54, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
@Darrrrmilk you already are at 503 edits. You should have received a notification. You can also verify at Special:UserRights/User:Darrrrmilk. – robertsky (talk) 06:17, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
Yes I received it I just didn't see it at first when viewing my user groups. Darrrrmilk (talk) 13:08, 1 April 2026 (UTC)
I didn't get notification either. Darrrrmilk (talk) 14:32, 1 April 2026 (UTC)

good day, why do i have a mentor? i'm confused by this. good day :) --TheEditDuh (talk) 18:08, 2 April 2026 (UTC)

@TheEditDuh: It is a new(ish) feature where new accounts are automatically paired up with experienced editors who volunteered to be mentors in case there are questions that you may have when editing Wikipedia. More FAQs here: Wikipedia:Mentorship. – robertsky (talk) 16:48, 3 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Gypt gypt (23:35, 7 April 2026)

Hi Robertsky.

I received a message that I had accidentally removed a user and another student's pre existing outlines and bibliographies on the Forest Ecology Article, is there a way to reverse or fix this mistake? --Gypt gypt (talk) 23:35, 7 April 2026 (UTC)

@Gypt gypt Under the article' History page you can click on the Undo link next to the edit you had done to undo your edit. But if you want to retain your edit and restore the removed content, you can copy out the removed text from the previous revision in the History page and paste into a new edit. See also H:Reverting. It seems your classmate has done so. – robertsky (talk) 18:03, 8 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from WikiWriter5678 (13:57, 9 April 2026)

Hello, Robertsky! I'm sorry to bother you. I need a second opinion, so I'm hoping you can help me.

Another editor has told me that because I have a COI, I cannot edit the Gate City Bank page except to fix typos and errors. From my understanding, COI editing is strongly discouraged but not prevented, meaning it is allowed with proper COI disclosure -- just not preferred. I have been unable to find any stipulation saying COI editing is only allowed for fixing errors. As long as I use neutral third-party sources and not the bank's website or sources that could be considered churnalism, can I make edits to the page?

For now, I have started submitting everything through the edit request wizard. I am concerned because the other editor said even including things like the bank is a member of the FDIC would not be allowed because it's promotional and not encyclopedic, but that detail is a basic fact that gives readers standard factual information about the bank's regulatory status and deposit insurance, which is commonly listed for U.S. banks to improve completeness and clarity.

With my edits, I have not been promoting any products or services but have been trying to provide clearer context about the bank's development over time, consistent with Wikipedia’s goal of documenting notable organizations using verifiable, independent sources -- details which have been allowed for other banks in the Upper Midwest region that receive less news coverage.

Also, I started a page for a nonprofit in our area but have not finished or published it. Because Gate City Bank pays employees for unlimited volunteer time, I am being paid to make those edits. I have a COI on the page, but I am hesitant to move forward knowing another editor could come along and remove it, even though I'm using only neutral third-party sources, simply because my employer encourages team members to volunteer during company time.

I appreciate your time and any advice you can give me! --WikiWriter5678 (talk) 13:57, 9 April 2026 (UTC)

Election clerking

Hi Robert. I stumbled on WT:AELECT this morning and saw Novem's note and his endorsement of you. I'd be happy to serve as a clerk for the elections in May. I've clerked twice before (one AELECT, one ACE) and am familiar with the process. Giraffer (talk) 13:02, 10 April 2026 (UTC)

A user is harassing me on my talk page; please intervene

That user is Exsap (no user page), and they have a long history of making unsourced changes on military articles (per their talk page)

They and I have been edit-warring (I have read WP:BOOMERANG) since I reverted them for making unsourced changes on the article Guards (Singapore Army)

It didn't take long for them to barge onto my talk page and immediately accuse me of misogyny, which I was clearly not engaging in; I left them a {{subst:uw-npa3}}

They restored it, so I reverted them again and got accused of being a grub promoting information 15 years out of date

And then "grub" again and most recently "pest" Whyiseverythingalreadyused (t · c · he/him) 03:31, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

@Whyiseverythingalreadyused: I can report to ANI on your behalf as I noticed the edits on the article. This will ultimately resulted in both of you been blocked for 3RR and most likely Exsap blocked for a longer period for incivility. Should have stopped after 3 reverts regardless. I was checking for 3RR for both of you and about to report to ANI for this but I defer to robertsky since you came here already. ~ JASWE (talk) 04:04, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
Welp Whyiseverythingalreadyused (t · c · he/him) 04:08, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
@Whyiseverythingalreadyused, @Justanothersgwikieditor: evaluated. @Exsap blocked for a month for disruptive editing, edit warring and making personal attacks over the article. The previous block was taken into account in determining the duration of the block. Whyiseverythingalreadyused blocked for 24 hours for edit warring. – robertsky (talk) 06:04, 17 April 2026 (UTC)

Question from Nguy3nNierNier (10:28, 16 April 2026)

Note: Nguy3nNierNier's mentor ZI Jony is away.

Greetings! Currently I'm curious about how editors found their source material from like physical or somewhat obscure digital? --Nguy3nNierNier (talk) 10:28, 16 April 2026 (UTC)

@Nguy3nNierNier Typically in the archives of their local library or if you are an established editor, you can also access Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Library, which is a program to give access to paid archives to the editors. – robertsky (talk) 11:21, 17 April 2026 (UTC)
