I have long (going back 20 years) known that on matters geopolitical, Wikipedia was censored and biased towards an Anglo-American/Western perspective. I assumed at the time there was an army of bored US soldiers in Iraq or wherever spending their time "improving the project". Obviously, they had the time available to move up the Wiki-ranks, become Admins etc.

Now I see it was rather more coordinated than that. Wikipedia has become (and maybe always was) an instrument of Anglo-American hegemonistic propaganda manipulated by the CIA. What do you think Sswonk? Sarah777 (talk) 19:53, 10 October 2025 (UTC)

Holy holy fuck Sarah777 yes of course this is where all manner of recruitment, surveillance, setting in amber of views favorable to the Trilateralists, Vatican, Bob Hope. I don't know where they are, they could be in Canada, the PM saying, clearly, politely, "Will you please move your Wikimonitor Force elsewhere?" !!! -- I concentrate on spreading hope and cheerfulness. They have a lot to answer for. They all just shake their heads. They want hope, not AIDS, eradicated. Are those the forces of bias you mean?

Now, here's something that I think illustrates the need for open discussion of authoritarianism everywhere: in Quincy, my city here just south of Boston, shake/trim cannabis goes for under $2 (< €1.74) a gram. Full flower goes for ~$3.20 /g (~€2.80 /g), or more -- all when purchasing 28g (1 oz). A soul can wake up, stroll out the door with some cash, go to the store by the bridge on the main highway to the southern towns (3A), and walk out with all types of flower, edibles, and so on. No one cares.

However, when I asked Gemini, Google, whether cannabis is legal in Ireland, the 1000 monkeys responded: "No, marijuana is not legal in Ireland for recreational use. It is also illegal to possess, cultivate, or sell it.

"However, medical cannabis is legal in certain cases, with a prescription from a registered medical practitioner and approval from the Minister for Health."

Yes, and in Texas, the simians in Mountain View say: "Class B Misdemeanor, Up to 180 days in jail, $2,000 fine." In other words, if you walk out of the door with flower, etc., there they take it away! And lock you up! And demand more money!

I like Plan A, where nobody cares. But the difference, and I think this is serious and surrounded by cheekiness, is you talk about the CIA and army, so on, and I agree. The difference is the ubiquitousness of the internet. Geez you have such a way of getting me started, I just saw this question and now I am like, Kings and Queens had no internet, hidden lethal groups now can see what time I walked out of Walmart, and what I watch.

Sarah, I hear this in my head some days, years later: be faithful to the truth as you see it. Always. I trust that if we discuss this dystopian surveillance, maybe we can help people suffer less from it. Ping @Sarah777, since it's now December. Hope nothing dire is distracting you. Regarding comprehension of my cannabis/Rixy street art offerings, maybe you're overthinking? The essence is I see a battle between the artificial, constricting, unsophisticated, rules-infested (scare quotes) "internet", and the living, adaptive, artistic, forgiving, human maternal instincts of freedom, the bottom up people. I have chosen to go with the latter, probably a choice made when I was 10. I worry that we here in Massachusetts who have undone bad cannabis laws might end up being beaten back by those who define "progress" or "success" as controlling things they don't understand and having their new control labeled as "efficient" and "intelligent". I know that's not you, but that is the trend of the authoritarian US. Some of the world is frozen in 1946. The generals are in charge they think. So I really, seriously agree with you that authoritarian embeds are here on this project, and my solution is to be honest and loud about opposing them. I was using a VPN, as I do, and Wiki had range-blocked whatever address the VPN had conjured up for me! If you want to get RT in free democratic Europe that's what you have to do. Hypocrisy is really the only real Western value. Sarah777 (talk) 10:24, 6 December 2025 (UTC)

Ironically, I'm back from China (that's a whole other experience!) and there I had to use a VPN to get Wiki, but RT was no problem. It seems nobody really believes in freedom to present facts, or nonsense, that they don't like.

Trump is bit a more explicit agent of settled Western policy to maintain its fading global hegemony, than the US Democrats (or the "centrist liberals" of Europe - who are neither centrist nor liberal).

Well I was Ok with Israel not going to Eurovision, but it looks like the US shouldn't go to any contests with other countries either. There is more than "one bad apple", Trump is the tip of a centuries long spear of racism and won by 2 million votes 14 months ago. Not a Palestinian, but I think common sense tells us all that Israeli racism against the rest of the world has its champion in him. What continues to upset me is I feel that so many claims of upset against his actions stupidly forget about the 77 million who were credulous enough to cast a ballot for him. Too many follow the rules of corporate "neutrality" when dealing with political situations. The real leader, and culprit, is the board at the bank, serenely above it all. Trump's the Bully XL, but the one with the leash, the arrogance of centuries of racist murder, they gonna gives "cover" to the 77 million sad humans who put this sick man in office. I suppose from my perspective the only difference between Trump and the Democrats is that Trump removes the mask. The Genocide peaked under Biden. Squeezing the margins, I feel what you wrote in the sense of "Sympathy for the Devil", and will let Keith Richards say it from our article:

And on peaking, the genocide, I think it is very on the upswing. Technology is not neutral. Big advances in technology increase "objective" decision making, so ask what are the downsides of getting the steam engine, locomotive, telegraph, telephone, automobile, radio, television. Not much time is spent mentioning wiping out native peoples, who apparently live in the old pre-"modern miracles" period. The mask, as a deception or lie, appears adept, uh, well, Snowball seems very skillful anyway:

So I was in the midst of reading your essay in my user space that I have preserved for all to enjoy, and I hovered over your username link to see via pop-ups your talk page history, and saw you have alit. Do you realize how much I admire you? Your clear logic? Your icepick humor? That essay could exist alongside the Mandelbrot set as the description therein of "The Symptoms", repeated, covers the publication bias dilemma in all ways, an illustrated infinity of excuse. Who is a "reliable source" among people knowledgable of the workings of a cocaine cartel, for example? A diary of cocina española recipes, found pero es autopublicado – RS enough? The essay that ate academia!

I'm gonna get sick here, but re: the evil empire and living here and having this be our news, yuck all day. GIGO, if not GUBU. Eh, I'll spill the beans.

For context, this first came to my attention due to a block for socking by Tyrenius, this thread gives most of the context. A private CU was conducted, and found extensive overlap (beyond working hours, on the weekends, etc.) between W. Frank and Gaimhreadhan on the same computer. Frank's explanation boiled down to this , but with the CU evidence, the swapped signatures, the emails, and the behavioral evidence, it felt like a fig leaf. Nonetheless, it was enough to convince Fred Bauder, a sitting arbitrator . As an aside, you could probably convince Fred that the Moon was made of cheese if you couched it in "privacy" enough, and my hunch is that this was the case here... I talked to Tyrenius after this, and I believe that the general sentiment was that of WP:ROPE.

To my recollection, the situation only cropped up again following Gaimhreadhan's "death", when the old CU logs and Tyrenius' private evidence were brought up again. At debate here was how much dramah we were willing to generate, how big of a headache we were willing to endure, and the miniscule (<1%) chance that Frank was telling the truth. I thought that it was improper to let the farce play out with seriousness and solemnity, but others thought differently. With hindsight, compared to what would have happened if we had come out, I think that the decision ended up in the net positive when it came to drama, see and Wikipedia:Requests for checkuser/Case/W. Frank.

I had serious reservations about how we handled the case back then and still have them now. That's why your user page bugged me enough to bring it here.

Anyways, some of this information seems to have (somehow) made its way into the news media, so you can see for yourself:

I wonder just how some of this information seems to have (somehow) made its way into the news media? A diligent journalist, searching the internet for an unusual name, just happens to stumble upon a socking case from nearly two decades ago? 🤔 I mean, I don't know the full facts here, at all. I had some email correspondence back in the day with W.Frank, and I talked to him on the phone, once or twice. I understand he had a committed SHA identity on here, verified by admins, and he certainly didn't sound in any way Irish, or Kiwi, when I spoke to him. That's the only light I can shed on that.
