Voting for coordinators is now open!

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:41, 1 September 2024 (UTC)

Note

Please note that due to WP:RUSUKR, editors who are not extended confirmed are unable to make edits about the Russo-Ukrainian war, broadly construed, but can still make edit requests on the talk page. Thanks. Mellk (talk) 16:23, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

Thank you for the warning. So despite the fact that the village Tyotkino has little to do with the war overall, (and I will admit my edit removing an area without consensus was wrong), am I unable to make edits that use proper sources and are well written until I am extended-confirmed?
Thank you Sgtnugg (talk) 20:30, 2 September 2024 (UTC)
This edit was directly about the war. As the general sanctions page says: Only extended-confirmed editors may make edits related to the topic area. This is also broadly construed. If you have any other questions, do let me know. Mellk (talk) 20:54, 2 September 2024 (UTC)

Coalition of the Gulf War

Thanks for beginning the clean-up of that article. Just today, shortly before you began editing, I was reading it and thinking how badly it needed work in places (including the Bangladesh section, for example). Great minds etc. AntiDionysius (talk) 21:36, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

Thanks mate, means a lot, I don't get much appreciation for the work I do on these random pages. Lot's of work do on that one, that's for sure! Sgtnugg (talk) 11:56, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

Information icon Hi Sgtnugg! I noticed that you recently marked an edit as minor that may not have been. "Minor edit" has a specific definition on Wikipedia—it refers only to superficial edits that could never be the subject of a dispute, such as typo corrections or reverting obvious vandalism. Any edit that changes the meaning of an article is not a minor edit, even if it only concerns a single word. Thank you. Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 10:51, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

A7 medium tank

Hi Sgtnugg, my area of expertise is biographies, but I would say the source you linked to looks OK. While the website looks to allow articles by non-professionals, the author looks to be a tank specialist.

I'm not sure what you mean by: would I be able to use the sources that they have cited in their article, even if I do not have access to them. Are you referring to the sources at the bottom of the Russian article you've linked to or to the sources in the Wiki article. If you don't have access to sources then you obviously can't use them to add new material. You don't need to delete information that is properly cited here on Wikipedia even if you can't check the source yourself; just build on it. Don't use blogspot, and of the the other two sources, one (Duncan, Mediums Marks I-III) is used in the Wiki article already. You can only use what you have access to, to add to articles.

Happy editing, 11:06, 30 September 2024 (UTC) Gaia Octavia Agrippa Talk 11:06, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Your submission at Articles for creation: Saladin Security (November 30)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reason left by Ibjaja055 was:
This submission does not appear to be written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia article. Entries should be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources. Please rewrite your submission in a more encyclopedic format. Please make sure to avoid peacock terms that promote the subject.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.

Your submission at Articles for creation: Saladin Security (December 3)

Your recent article submission to Articles for Creation has been reviewed. Unfortunately, it has not been accepted at this time. The reasons left by CharlieMehta were:
This draft's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article. In summary, the draft needs multiple published sources that are:
Make sure you add references that meet all four of these criteria before resubmitting. Learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue. If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia.
This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Wikipedia's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Wikipedia, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies.
Please check the submission for any additional comments left by the reviewer. You are encouraged to edit the submission to address the issues raised and resubmit after they have been resolved.
