Disambiguation link notification for November 1
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Cryptocurrency and crime, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sanctions. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Introduction to contentious topics
You have recently edited a page related to living or recently deceased subjects of biographical content on Wikipedia articles, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.
A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia's norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.
Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:
- adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
- comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
- follow editorial and behavioural best practices;
- comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
- refrain from gaming the system.
Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.
Notice I'm adding back ICE ads section to Criticism of Spotify due to new sources
I was going to start an RfC to garner consensus for reinclusion of the section per WP:ONUS:
RfC draft
ICE recruitment ads
In October 2025, Spotify was criticized for running recruitment advertisements from ICE.[1] Users both free and paid subscribers stated that the ads were politically charged and portrayed immigrants as criminals, with some accusing the message as insensitive.[2] Many users responded by cancelling their subscriptions and calling for a boycott.[1] Spotify defended the advertisements by stating they were part of a government campaign, which complied with its ad policies and stated that users could provide feedback or thumbs-down such ads.[1]
New sources
However, sources have now specifically written about Spotify airing ICE ads:
- https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2026/jan/09/spotify-no-longer-running-ice-recruitment-ads-after-us-government-campaign-ends
- https://variety.com/2026/digital/news/spotify-confirms-ice-recruitment-ads-are-no-longer-running-1236626243/
Therefore, per WP:SNOW, criteria for WP:NOTABILITY are conferred by these sources so I'm adding the section back. Feel free to take a look and let me know if you have any issues with how it was reimplemented Alexandraaaacs1989 (talk) 20:48, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
- Those are interesting points. Can we move this conversation on Talk:Criticism_of_Spotify? ◦ Sibshops (talk) 20:58, 29 January 2026 (UTC)
